A Sunbeam, A Sunbeam

Here are Hannah and her friend Madelyn, two Sundays ago, on their first day in Primary as a Sunbeams. Hannah was the only one of four who didn't want Mom or Dad to stay. She was ready to go! :)

Christmas Photo Album 2008

Hollywild Lights Safari

We got a "bum deal" this year. We had a big bag of bread to feed the animals instead of the little bags of grain. The Zebra's much preferred the grain. :)

Christmas Eve

Christmas Day

Top 15 Merry Christmas Time Memories of 2008

1. Family dance party to MoTab's Jamaican Christmas song on the Mr. Krueger DVD.
2. Watching the San Francisco Ballet's Nutcracker on PBS.
3. Hannah dancing along to the ballet in her own "dancing dress."
4. Hannah pretending to be Clara or the Mouse King from the "Crackernut" ballet. Her Mouse King face was pretty serious and she even carried a sword! :) And the night that Mary and Joseph came to dinner. Hannah was in character the whole meal and would only answer to "Mary." :)
5. Phone call to Santa and Mrs. Claus. (After visiting with Santa at the Ward Party Hannah realized that she hadn't told Santa what the dogs wanted for Christmas. Luckily, Aunt Emily had Santa's phone number. Thanks Grandma & Grandpa for making the magic happen. :)
6. The great big bonfire at the Hollywild Light's Safari, a very warm spot on a very cold night.
7. Christmas shopping and dinner out with Grandma Lois.
8. Skyping cousins, Aunt Emily & Grandma & Grandpa on Christmas Eve and a call to Papa Jim on Christmas Day.
9. Christmas Eve Santa Clausing at Walgreens with Grandma Lois! Unforgettable! (Thanks Mom!)
10. Ben's face when he saw the train table and then him playing in his new Engineer Hat and Bandana.
11. Hannah's eyes when she realized that Santa had come and filled her stocking.
12. Ben making an excited "o" with his mouth while each present was brought out to be opened, then pointing and saying "whoa" or "wow" for each one!
13. Hannah mothering Elsie in her new baby bassinet and pushing Elsie around in her new stroller. :)
14. Christmas tree bonfire. Beautiful!
15. As we were putting all the Christmas stuff away, Ben running around in a Santa hat saying, "Ho, Ho, Ho!"

Christmas Break

After a couple of intense weeks in the clinic at the end of Fall Quarter, Jared took a Physical Therapy training course and after that Christmas Break began! It was nice to have him home for a while. When Jared's home all day we end up out on unexpected adventures and he makes just being at home a lot more fun too. It always feels like break isn't quite long enough and this year with PT, a week of stomach flu and a week of weaning...the time we had truly flew.

As for our holiday celebration, the kids loved our traditional Christmas ham. Ben actually cried for more at one point. :) Granted, we ate our Christmas dinner on New Years Day this year, since Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Hannah and Ben were sick with the stomach flu. Sad. We were so glad that Grandma Lois was here with a cuddly lap from which Hannah opened most of her gifts. And thank you Grandma for all the help you gave that made Christmas still happen...wrapping almost every gift, dishes, laundry, cleaning up etc. It was a crummy sickness and the kids didn't fully recover for almost a week. I got a more mild version that lingered, while Jared's "Stubblefield Stomach of Steal" served him well yet again!

Then it was on to weaning and for the first time in a very long time I am not pregnant or nursing or both. Jared is pampering me with some foods I haven't had in a while :) and while it was a bit of an adjustment for my body, I am feeling great and I can't say enough about sleeping all night through!

Another fun bit of news for Christmas break was that we joined the YMCA. It seems to be the perfect fit for us. Jared has tried in vain for a long time to find a gym or fitness program that suited him, but the Y has classes, open gym etc. at the perfect times and with a great group of people. Hannah's already been swimming once and is looking forward to swim lessons and I love the Christian, family-focused atmosphere. I'm glad to have found a place that is such a good fit.

Then, this week Jared started back to school. We are looking forward to Aunt Becky, Uncle Thad & Cousin Josh's visit this weekend and to Grandma Stubblefield's visit next week.

We hope you all had happy Christmas and New Year's celebrations and that this year has been a good one so far. Happy New Year!!
