Snow Much Fun-Christmas 2013

At Christmas, in Jared's family each married couple (the six kids and his Mom and Dad) puts together a Christmas gift for one of the others. We rotate names and over the years get turns to give to and receive from everyone. Well, for Mom and Dad's gift to us, they gave us...family memories and some really fun indoor snowballs. : ) Over the next year and a half we got to enjoy several awesome family activities that gave us memories, that we love, forever. Mom S. decorated the bucket of snow balls with the words, "snow much fun." And that's exactly what it was!

"He tore the lightening from the sky
And the scepter from the tyrants"

I love this beautiful quote about Benjamin Franklin, the scientist and the statesman!

This room was all about electricity. The kids were fascinated! Especially Ben, who has always been interested in electricity and electronics.

Caleb loved building a building and then making an "earthquake" knock it down!

Hannah was especially captivated by the paper making demo and ended up making some at home, with a Bill Nye kit, later in the year.
The boys watching some teenage visitors cycle across a suspended wire!

This room was all about the science of sports.

Caleb and Naomi could not contain their adorableness!!

The view from one of the upstairs windows out over Logan Square.
Now, you'd be able to see the temple being built in the upper left hand corner of the photo.

We weren't able to take pictures in the visiting Pompeii exhibit, but it was amazing. Life changing in ways. Jared and I are both fascinated with history and it was especially meaningful for us as we had been learning about the Roman empire during the time of Christ. We talked about how the artifacts that we were looking at, were made and used during or near after His life on earth and may have been types of things He would have known. Jared was especially interested in the Roman armor. At the end of the exhibit we purchased three coins that were  made to look like the Roman coins of the time. I use them at Easter time to teach about the 30 pieces of silver. The children were entranced with the entire idea and visiting the exhibit inspired a theme of study in home school for the next month. The children have not forgotten Pompeii and when the cowboy and Roman soldier had no idea what Roman city they were visiting in Night at the Museum 3, our kids tried so hard to tell them. : )

This was an outing for the older three with Dad. They had a blast, but their photog wasn't there to capture the smiles. : )

Well, at last we finished up our "snow much fun" adventures with a trip to the Cape May Zoo.
It was a really lovely day, complete with ice cream and a carousel ride.

Naomi is quite in love with her babies lately. She likes to put them to bed and feed them breakfast. : ) She has two from Grandma and this little one from her Daddy. She loves having her own backpack and being able to take "little baby" along!

Love this sweet flower! So happy!

Six hearts full of thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for the best Christmas gift ever! : ) We are a family who values experiences and we truly had so much fun together and made so many great memories, because of this awesome gift!
