You Can't Always Get What You Want....

...but if you try sometimes...well you might find... you get what you need.  -(Mick Jagger, Keith Richards)

Sometimes what I want is not the same as what I need.  Sometimes what I want is not even good for me...except, maybe, when it comes to chocolate mousse.

It is easy to lose sight of what I need.  Often I don't want to see the alternative...the thing that I need.
God always knows what I need and He patiently persists.  Sometimes in a drought, you wish for a deluge of rain and you almost miss the dew.

He comes in the dew and covers you softly, gently, and completely.

When Morning Breaks....

My soul seems to go through seasons.(I know I do...I read my own blog sometimes and note the ups and downs!) Do you ever feel weary? Get discouraged? This season felt as if there was no end to it, and it felt very lonely.

And then one day the fog lifts. After a particularly dark turbulent night, a big disappointment, I sense a new day dawning. Something brand new and good is around the corner. Weeping may last for a night but rejoicing comes with the morning. You can see and hear more clearly.  The day seems brighter.  You feel like yourself again.  So who am I when I'm not myself?

I may get discouraged but I don't lose hope.

  • I posted entirely too many photos of my holiday up North.  But it's quicker to pore over my favourite favourites here than gaze at the entire photo album on my hard drive :)
  • I wish you could see the trees on my street.  They're gorgeous.
  • I spent some time with good friends. A friend is someone who makes you feel good about yourself after you have spent time with them.  They nourish your soul. I hope you have friends like that!!
  • My son is home from college for a weekend.   No wonder we feel complete again :)
  • 3rd family reunion of 2012 coming up later this weekend.  Can't wait for the beautiful drive :)
  • Soooo much to thank God for today!!
  • I'm blessed and as Matt Redman would say:
    Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
    Blessed be Your name

    Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
    Blessed be Your name

    Every blessing You pour out
    I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
    Still I will say
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

The Serpentine Loop

My beloved and I went camping recently.  It was great to spend 5 days together.  Completely uninterupted.  Off the grid.  Above are a few(...okay maybe 20) glimpses that speak to the beauty up there...  And the quiet.
