Tooth fairy

Well, much has happened with Christmas and family and fun! We will post a ton of pics and videos soon, but tonight our little princess passed through one of the thresholds to adulthood- she lost her very first tooth. It has been loose for some time now and she kept saying that she would loose it Christmas Eve so that Santa and the Tooth fairy would come the same night. She didn't, so they didn't. But tonight as I was tucking her in bed she was wiggling it so far that you could actually see under the tooth. We called Daddy in and a few seconds later with a little blood--it was all over. She has her tooth tucked safely inside her pink heart tooth fairy pillow and is excited for the morning! I love childhood!

Christmas Fun!

Well, we have had quite a busy last week or so, as I am sure that everyone has. We are prepping to host Christmas Eve as well as enjoying parties, lights, making cookies, events, etc.

Last night David's parents and sister took us to dinner and Moody Gardens to see the Festival of Lights as well as a shortened 4D version of Polar Express. It snowed in the theater and sprayed water at you and the room smelled like hot chocolate. We all really enjoyed it--well except for Kylie, who really did not appreciate getting sprayed in the face with water! After the evening was over we headed home from Galveston at a rather rapid pace. Unfortunately one of Galveston County's fine policemen pointed a radar gun right at us and David now has the speeding ticket to prove it. Well, when you get a speeding ticket with three kids in the back you get a barrage of questions. "What is he doing?" "Why did you do it?"etc.etc. So, we told the kids that Daddy had broken the law and now he has to take an (incredibly boring, lame, horrid) class and pay a lot of money. So then the following conversation ensued:

David: Ok kids, because I got a ticket and it's going to cost a lot of money, we're going to have to take back all of the Christmas presents to pay for it!

Kids: Chorus of boos!

Amy: Well, Daddy is the one who was naughty, so let's just take back all of his presents.

Kids: Chorus of yeas!

David & Amy: Explanation that we are just kidding and all is well.

Silence

20 seconds or so pass

Dallin: (slow and deliberate, as serious as a heart attack)
Daddy, Santa knows what you did...

We couldn't stop laughing!

Pictures to follow.
Just one of all three at our ward Christmas Party (at a horse ranch) with Santa (who rode in on a horse wearing a cowboy hat!)

Memories

I realized recently that I never posted pictures from my cousin Angie's wedding--sorry Pange! Anyway, she and Jason were married last May and our little Emily was their flower girl. She was the flower girl the summer before for Angie's sister, Chrissy, too. Lots of use for a beautiful dress. Maybe the reason I thought of it is that this Sunday Emily's Junior Primary is recreating the Nativity scene and Emily will be an angel and they've asked her to wear white. So she will be donning the flower girl dress once again. Needless to say she is excited. Also this past weekend I took Emily to see the Nutcracker with some girls from her dance class. In my usual manner, I forgot the camera. So, Amber when you read this, it's your reminder to send me the pictures--thanks!
Alright so back to the flower girl, I just want to post some of these pictures, so here we go. I forgot to mention that she had been determined to catch the bouquet as soon as she found out that meant that she would get married. Well, the more age-appropriate girls fumbled it and she swooped it off the ground. So, yes, my five-year-old caught the bouquet! Oh, Heavens!

Then these last two are from Chrissy wedding summer of '07

And lastly a favorite video from quite a while ago. This was from May of 2007. The kids went through a phase of wanting to walk on the moon and be spacemen. Emily found an old coat of mine from the college days in Utah and said it was a space suit. Then she added some tall boots of mine and a belt and it made for one great way to blackmail her in the future. Well, we have found this hilarious, but maybe you just have to be the parent's on this one. Anyway, we love to torture our children so here you go!

Santa

Well, with the stomach flu in our family last week, Emily and I didn't make the annual trip to the Markwalters to visit Santa. David took the younger two and got some great pictures. Normally I try to dress the kids in festive Christmas attire, but when Mom's in bed, Dad doesn't really think of these things. Oh well, here they are with Santa in their sweats and drooled on shirts. The last picture is the classic. We now have a picture of all three kids screaming at Santa. Gotta Love It!

SNOW!!

Down here in Sugar Land Texas it snowed this afternoon. No, not gather it up and make a snowman, or flop down in a cloud of fluffy white stuff to make an angel, snow. No, this is Texas snow! The kind that comes every 5 or 6 years and just flurries around your head and sticks to your hair for about 30 seconds and gathers ever so lightly to your roof top. No there is none on the ground, but there are flurries none the less and I LOVE IT! Nothing makes me happier than to see snow in my little Sugar Land. My kids fed off my excitment as we took pictures and hoped a few flurries would make it on camera. So fun!

stomach flu

One thing I am truly grateful for in our day of modern conveniences is a washing machine. How in the world could I survive the stomach flu going through a family of 5 (David is the only one who has been spared--thus far) without a washing machine. With that being said, why is it when you are your most careful to grab the part of the sheet that was not puked on, the puke part always seems to be the one part that brushes against your arm. YUCK!

Well Kylie is currently the ill one and babies just rip your heart out when they are sick, but especially babies that have had surgery to prevent them from throwing up. She can of course, throw up, the fundo didn't hold, but it still much harder for her to get anything up. It's awful!!!

With all that being said there are a lot of other things to catch up on so here we go:

Emily turned 6 last Saturday and we celebrated by taking 9 little 5 and 6 year-olds to the movies (can we say I'm in need of a sanity check?) We had breakfast at her birthday party and plopped some candles in a donut, which she thought was hilarious! After her party we went to the Incredible Pizza Company to party some more and then we came home and ended the day with a friend's kids to come play while the parents went out to celebrate the mom's birthday. Busy, busy busy! However, our little princess had a blast and we could not possibly be more proud of the young lady she is turning into. On Sunday we went to my parent's house to celebrate Emily's birthday and that is where the castle cake is from--not me--I don't have that kind of time. :) But of course she loved it.

Emily also had her dance recital two weeks back. She loved the hip hop number the most. She was completely adorable and I am loving the fact that she still wants to be a ballerina when she grows up!

The same day as the dance recital Emily also had her Thanksgiving feast at school. I was able to go and even got a friend to watch the younger two, which was nice--thanks Amy C! Anyway, I ended up leaving my camera in the car, so I am stealing this picture from Sally's blog. They also
made these great Turkey hand shirts that you can't really see in the picture, but super cute!

We also headed to the zoo last week. It was nice to be able to spend some time with Emily, I feel like I miss so much of her little life now that she is in school. I really look forward to the breaks when she is home with us. Anyway, we went to the zoo with a group of friends and all enjoyed the day.

Kylie: that poor child has been through a ton the past few weeks. She has been measured and molded for braces for her lower legs--she was tortured just through that process so I have no idea how she'll handle something on her all the time. She has gone into the hospital twice in the last few weeks to get a Renal DMSA done. It's to check for scar tissue on her kidney from all of her UTI's. Twice I have gone to the hospital. Twice they have attempted to get an IV in her to do the test. Twice I have cried in frustration and at her pain and twice have I left without the test being done. I don't have the answer folks, I just don't know.

To top it off her G-tube button started having serious issues. It would break and fall out on an average of every 6 or so days. This is really not good. They only will give us one spare at a time and they have to UPS them over night. It's not like we can run to a 24 hour Walgreens and say, "hey, yea, I need a 14FR 1.2cm G-tube mickey button. Oh, yea aisle 9, great thanks!"
The worst time it fell out was when I was waiting to pick up Emily at school, standing on the black top talking to another mom. I glanced down, saw it picked it up and kept right on with my conversation as if I had dropped my keys. She didn't notice and for that I am grateful. That's a little hard to explain. The good news is (knock on wood) I finally got her into the surgeon's office and they gave her a shorter one. It has lasted a total of 9 days, so we'll see how long it makes it. She lost 5 in about a month.
As a side note, my girl who loves lights, loves all these Christmas decorations. If she is ever going to crawl I think it might be to get a hold of the tree.

Last but not least our little Dallin. He started off all this flu business on Thanksgiving morning. While Daddy was off playing in the local Turkey Bowl, we had our own bowls filling up at home. Needless to say not a relaxing Thanksgiving, but I did get the pie and fruit salad made. We did eventually make it to grandma's house, David's sprained ankle and all. Me and my boys... However today, David took off from work and while the girls (me and Emily) were in bed moaning the boys had an excellent time going on a bike ride, playing street hockey in the driveway and starting work on the train table they are making together. We'll post pictures when they are done.
