1 Sam 15-16

I was reading 1 Samuel 15-16 and these verses stood out for me so i just wanna share them with you...
God delights in our obedience to Him. 1 Sam 15: 22 "But Samuel replied: 'Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams."
To love God is to obey Him. Although obedience may sound like something that we don't like to do, cos as sinful humans, we tend to want to do things our own ways, but it is what God wants us to do. In fact, God grieves when someone turns away from Him and does not carry out His instructions. (1 Sam 15:11)

Another verse that I found was 1 Sam 15:29 "He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is not a man, that he should change his mind."
That's who God is.

And..."The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." 1 Sam 16:7

Obey God, who does not lie or change, and keep our hearts focused on Him. This is my prayer for myself and all of you.

Women's Concert Choir Retreat

I went to a weekend retreat at Beechpoint camp in Michigan with the MBI WCC. When I found out that we actually have a retreat so soon(even before the classes start), I didn't felt like going but it turned out great!

Arriving at the camp with our pillows and bags.. We went there using the blue vans. The blue car belongs to Ms. Hong, our choir conductor. She is actually from Singapore and she is such a nice and friendly person!
There's a wooden bear beside the lake..
The weather was beautiful so we could just read our bible and relax under the sun or trees.
Playground and cabins.
We had a campfire that night and had marshmellows with crackers and chocolate. We sang songs around the fire and just thanked God for His wonderful love.

The flowers are so pretty... God is amazing! Nature is amazing!

The lake..
I'm in love with nature..
Morning time...
Our lunch..
Worship time..our theme this year is peace and grace.
This cat just sat there and welcomed us..
Enjoying lunch..Julie and Claire. They're MKs from Mexico and the Philippines.
Playing the name game to get to know people. There are three Sarahs and three Rachels in the choir. haa..this kind of situation makes me appreciate my name even more..cos it's more special.

the person beside the pink girl with her hand up is Ms. Hong.
The place where we had our choir practice and sharing time.
Getting ready to sing!
The room with bunk beds that we slept in.
We had games and skits, prayer time, sharing, boat-paddling in the lake too. I have to get the pictures from someone else so I'll post them in the future. The camp was really great cos we got to know each other better and prepare ourselves to evangelize through choir in the future. We'll have choir practices three times per week. God is just wonderful! I actually wanna write more about what I learned in the retreat, but I need to go sleep as classes start tomorrow morning. I'm excited to start school!!

First few days at Moody

My first impression of Moody the same place at night(viewed from my dorm)
CPO obviously, where I hope to receive mails
student dining room(SDR). I just got a job as a dining room worker here. praise God! I'll be doing things like serving food, cleaning the tables, etc.
on the 2nd day of orientation, we went around Chicago city to do scavenger hunt. We were assigned several locations/landmarks that we had to go to get our pictures taken and the theme for our group was "cops and robbers". They are all international students or missionary kids.
MBI
went up to the roof top of my dorm for pizza dinner.
it's pretty cool to see the buildings around MBI. The black building is the Hancock building.
some other international students/MKs on the roof top.
the water tower place which is one of the attractions in Chicago(taken during the scavenger hunt). buildings at night
a hotel with Hancock building behind.
I never know there's horse carriage rides in Chicago too!
Chocolate!! didn't went in though..haa..
A cow with ladybird skin climbing up the wall of a building. How weird is that?
Moody Church. Went there for sunday service.
Inside the church
International students and MKs having picnic in the plaza.
People watching the air and water show. The beach was packed!
My new friends(some of them):
This is Susan. She's from Honduras. She's on the same floor with me in the dorm. Vin Sie(She's from Malaysia too! I was actually surprised to know someone who's from there too. but she lived in Hong Kong for a long time.) Tony from Dominican Republic(he's a graduate student). Michelle from the Philippines(she's a graduate student too).
Haruna(from Japan) and Katie(from England).
The thing I was surprised about is that a lot of them are actually 20+ years old instead of 18 because some of them transferred from another college or worked before coming to study.
Today, the American students moved in. My roommate, Lana moved in today and she's really nice. She's doing a piano major and she's a really cheerful and chatty person(in a good way of course). Anyway, more updates later...till then, everyone take care ya!!

MOODY!!!

ok, i've been at Moody Bible Institute since Saturday. It has been a lot of fun as we're doing our international orientations these few days. I have been so busy cos there are lots of things to take care of such as unpacking, getting paperworks done, running around the campus to different departments.. anyway, the internet in my dorm room is not set up yet, so i'm using the computer in the lab now. I have so many things to tell about Moody but I can't do that now..hahaa.. I've been really tired these few days..can't seem to get enough sleep. anyway, i really wanna thank God for everything at Moody..i've met friends from other countries(international students n MKs aka missionary kids). the American students will move in tomorrow and my roommate is coming tomorrow too. I will try to update soon when i get settled down. btw, i miss Malaysia a lot!!!!

Back in Evanston

I arrived Chicago this afternoon. The plane ride was so so long..i kept counting the hours left. Anyway, thank God we arrived safely. I'm still feeling dizzy and that i'm in a dream. It's like I don't realize the fact that I'm back in Evanston and not in Malaysia anymore. haa.. I'll slowly put up pictures of Malaysia and write about them when I settle down.

my summer holiday is almost over..

I'm flying to Chicago tomorrow. Once again, time flies before I know it. I went to quite a few different places in Sarawak and ate lots of local food, but the things that I will remember the most are the memories I had with the people I met. It's GREAT to be home. As I was leaving, lots of people asked me when will I come back again and I said probably after four years. If I get a chance to come back soon, I'll be thrilled, but if not, I'll keep in touch with you all through internet. =)
