Since I'm not really going out this weekend cos I'm working on my paper and it's my turn to work in the student's dining room, i'll post pictures about what i did last weekend. haa..
Thursday night. Every Thursday, we have Thursday praise, which is one hour of singing praises to God. It's not a required thing, so students who want to go can go and worship with other students. It's a really wonderful time to just sing praises to God and think about what He wants us to do..

went to Chinatown friday night just for 珍珠奶茶bubble tea. Peter, Sam, Vin Sie and Meghan.

Vin Sie and I. We got durian bubble tea(it's actually smoothie with pearls in it) and it's so good!! We're so happy they have durian flavor so we didn't even consider other flavors..haha..

On Sunday morning, went to Lawndale Community Church in the suburbs by train. LCC is a church with mainly African American congregation. These are the girls who went with me. Vin Sie, Rachel, Ayren, and Chelsey.

walking towards the church. I love the purple wall with the purple flowers.

The choir. It's gospel style singing, with clapping and stuffs. It's really nice.

outside the church. It's not a very big church, but the people are really friendly.

Taking the train back to Moody. The weather was gorgeous that day..just look at the sky...

Sunday afternoon, PCM(practical Christian ministry) at Warren Barr nursing home. It's only 10 minutes' walk from Moody so it's actually very convenient for us. PCM is a requirement at Moody and it gives us a chance to live out what we learned. I have to go there every week for the whole year with my team.

Our ministry there is to lead worship service for the old people there and to talk with them. This is David sharing a short message. Only 8 people turn out for the service, less than i expected, but still good. We sing hymns with them and try to make conversations and encourage them.

They actually have a very pretty rooftop, but most of them are not very happy living there. It's understandable that they're not happy though, feeling lonely and unneeded. Please pray for me to have compassion and a heart that really loves them cos it's hard to love old people who are not related to me and who may not really understand what I say when i'm trying to have a conversation with them(because they're having trouble seeing/hearing or not very healthy anymore). I have to admit that I am not super-excited about going there every week, but i pray that God will help me truly love these old people, not just doing it because it's my assigned ministry.
The view from the top is really pretty. A nearby church.

My wonderful teammates: David, Janessa, and Lana with the ladies.

again, the view from there.

Chicago has lots of tall buildings.

Sunday evening, I went to Chinatown with a bunch of Moody students(mostly internationals) because dinner is not provided in the students dining room on Sundays.

Renee and Christi learning how to use the chopsticks from Sung Hyun. It's fun watching them learn. Sometimes we just take for granted our culture and don't realize that what may seem normal for us is actually new to others.

Our big group of Moody-ers in Chinatown.

All of us. From the left: Swen(Brazil), Sung Hyun(Korea), Lauren(Hungary), Rachel, John, Renee(US), John (Egypt), Vinsie(Malaysia), Mindy, Roy(India), Christi, Ayano(Japan), Kwang, Terry(France), and Akira(Japan). I don't know some of them really well, but international students usually know each other cos we were together during the orientation.
