I miss Korean Food

It has been a week since I arrived in Toronto. Friends who know me well would know that I like to eat Korean food very much. I remember that the last Korean meal I had in Malaysia before I left was on the 18th, the day before I left. Clearly, you can see how much I like to eat Korean food. I was quite excited when I reached my dear's place in Toronto, because it is near a Korean street, where there are a lot of Korean restaurants, convenience stores and shops owned by Koreans. I was pretty sure that my dear would bring me for a Korean meal one day.

That day came on a Saturday evening. I was too lazy to cook so he decided to bring me for a nice Korean meal. We spent 15 minutes walking to reach there. When I entered the restaurant, I saw that it was almost full. I thought then that the food must be nice and the 15 minutes of walking was really worth it. Without looking at the menu, my dear ordered 2 "kam ja tang". I have always liked to eat kim chi soup and bulgogi, but for a change, I let my dear decide for me this time.

The food was ready in 10 minutes, the Kam Ja Tang is some kind of pork bone soup. It looks spicy but is actually not. The soup is really yummy and the pork is nice too. As expected, some small side dishes were served. I did not really like them except for the kim chi. I told my dear that I wish to travel to Korea because I would really enjoy the food there.

The kam ja tang served was too large a portion for me. It costs only $7. After dinner, we walked home with full stomachs.

My home cooked food

Ming Sheng 's family have gone for holiday for a week since last Wednesday, so I have to cook by myself at home in order to save money. Cooking is fun and enjoyable only when the food is appreciated. To make myself happier, I would ask for a grade for each dishes that I cooked. My dear always give me a B because he does not quite like my style of cooking. I like to have a lot of sauce or gravy for a better taste. Whenever I cook, I like to add soy sauce, black sauce and pepper. For him, adding salt is more than enough. He prefer a plain taste, so he can eat the taste of the food rather than eating the taste of the source. Today, I had only 30 minutes to cook a "ginger onion chicken" dish, because we have something on in the afternoon. I cut the thawed chicken drum stick into pieces, it is quite difficult though. In less than 15 minutes, it is done. I am happy that my dear like it so much, he can finish everything in minutes and finally give me an A for that. Here are some of the pictures of my home cooked food.

Ginger onion chicken. (It does not look nice, because the picture is taken when we half eating it, so it is a bit messy.)

Dinner on Thursday . There are zucinni with mushroom, black pepper chicken and a herbal soup.

Dinner on Friday. There are fried mee with vege, curry pork and a left-over soup.

Breakfast on Sunday. There are pan cakes with honey.

Wiarton Trip ~ 2nd day

On the 22nd June, we again woke up in the morning to pack everything for checking out. Because our plan later would last for 5 to 6 hours. Our activity plan is fishing and hiking. Ming Sheng and his parents decided to go for fishing, they bought fishing license and rent a fishing boat, which cost $ 100 per person. His sisters and I decided to go hiking, since we are lack of interest for fishing and at the same time save some money. So we separated into 2 team at 8am, and our hiking start at 8am . According to his sister the hiking trip would be fun , because the final destination would be a very nice and interesting place.

We walked along the Cyprus Lake for about 1.5 hour before we stopped for breakfast. On our way, we saw people camping around and some wild animals like rabbits. We stopped at the side of the lake and ate our breakfast. After gaining energy from breakfast, we continued our journey, we passed by Horse Lake and Marr Lake and reached a beach with a lot of pebble stones. We stopped for about 45 minutes for our snacks this time. About half an hour later, we reached the final destination- Georgian Grotto.

It is a cliff, where there is a underwater cave underneath the cliff. We were allowed to climb down the Grotto to see the cave. But it would be difficult and need extra careful. In the Grotto , we saw a fantastic under water cave that goes to Georgian Bay. There are divers swimming through it some times. We enjoyed the climbing trip and enjoyed the view of Georgian Bay for more than an hour. Then we continued walking and back to where we from.

This trip is tiring but I really like the experience and the nice view. Here are some of our pictures.

Wiarton Trip- 1st day

On the 21th of June, we woke up early in the morning for a 2 days 1 night Wiarton Trip. Wiarton is tourism destination located in Ontario, it is about 3.5 hours drive from Toronto. It is a place with a lot of big lakes and bays.

We arrived there in the afternoon, and the very first thing to do was filling up our empty stomach. I ordered a big burger and it is very delicious, it costs me $6. ( about Rm 20). Hehe, if I keep doing conversion like this I may save a lot and at the same time eat less.

After lunch, we went to Colpoy's bay for a short walk and then we checked in to a resort. The resort has a very nice view of Colpoy's bay and we can enjoy free kayaking and peddle boating. We enjoyed kayaking and peddle boating a lot, since it is a nice place with fresh and cold weather. The resort provided an area for bbq too so we went to buy some meat and sausages for our bbq dinner.

We bought a very cheap ice cream for dinner too. 2 liter of chocolate ice cream cost us $2.50. Hehe, we enjoyed the bbq dinner and the ice cream very much.

My Arriving

I was flying with MAS from KL to HK. I had a bad experience with the HK air-port because the transit counter are separated far apart. It took me 20 minutes for walking from one end to another end. When I arrived at the floor of departure, I walked another 20 minutes to the gate. What I can say is HK airport is really big. I was trying to call back home, but the service is really poor. Before I can reach them, I already wasted RM 20.

After staying 2 hours in HK,I went on board again. This time would take me 15 hours+ to reach the destination. 15 hours is relatively long for me, because I could barely sleep due to the old women who sitting next to me. They were really disturbing and annoying while they leave their seats for toilet, they talked a lot and the worst was they keep coughing. At that time , I was thinking may be I am not tolerance.

Finally, I arrived at Toronto on the 19th June at 6.05 pm. The study permit process took me only 5 minutes, and everything was gone smoothly without baggage check and interview. I went out to the gate at 6.30pm with my 2 heavy luggage. I was quite surprised because I didn't see my boy friend there. I sitting alone at a side nearby and trying to make a phone call. Unfortunately, my cell phone has no sufficient money to make a call. I had no small change to use the public phone too. So I decided to stand at the middle of the waiting crowd, and yet I could not see my TALL GUY. I was thinking may be he was late, because he came from work. After 5 minutes, I saw him approaching to me. I was happy and angry at the same time, because he made me fear for a moment. His explanation is satisfying me, he was sitting on the floor while waiting for me, and he was waiting at the left side of the gate and i went out by the right side.

After that we took 1 hour of subway ride to reach home.

My Leaving

19th of June is my big day in my life. It was a day when I step across the boundary to achieve my dreams. My feeling was excited and i was looking forward to a new environment. I was sad at the same time, while my family and my friends are sending me off. I was sad to see my sister because she is like a crying baby. She has been crying for a week, and i guess she will continue doing that for a couple of days. I am proud of my parents, they did not cry on the spot, but i know they were sad in their heart. For me, I was stronger than what i expected, i did not cry in front of them. However, I cried a little while i was sending them my last sms on the plane.

Lastly, I would like to say thank you to my parents and sister for giving me a chance to further my studies in Canada. And Thanks to Wei Shin and Yuet Chong for coming to KLIA purposely.
