It has been a week since the last blog was written. This shows how busy I am for exam preparation. I was so happy and sad today. I am happy because I had done my first final exam in UOM. That means I have 4 more to go. I am sad because my ice cream course is done for now. I have no more ice cream class, ice cream lab, ice cream test, and no free ice cream in class ever. I think this is the most interesting class I ever have in 16 years of educations. I enjoy the class so much is not only because of the ice cream but the knowledge of ice cream I learnt. There is no doubt that I am a better ice cream consumer now.

After taken the course,
I can evaluate ice cream based on their texture and flavour, knowing their defects and reasons of defects.
I learnt what are the ice cream technology that producing low fat and high quality ice cream.
I learnt the ingredients and compositions of all types of ice cream. I can now differentiate each kind of ice cream products such as gelato, soft ice cream, sherbet, sorbet, ice, italian ice, regular ice cream.
I learnt the ice cream manufacture process and have visited an ice cream manufacturer.

After the last class today, I said thank you to my professor. I think he is a good and kind professor, he always bring ice cream to the class. During midterm test, he brought us biscuit because he knew some of us starving and not eating lunch to study for the test. He offers an open book test for us, where we were allowed to refer to book during exam. He allowed us to hand in lab report late, he gave us a lot of information for doing the lab report. I am sad for no more ice cream class that teaching by him. However, I will definitely enroll to his " CHEESE" class in fall term. I am wondering do we have free chesse in class in future.

I am very busy this week because I have 2 midterms on Thursday and one test on Friday. In the mean time, I have to settle my apartment contract, start buying furnitures and moving them. To keep myself awake and energetic, I drink coffee and tea. They are really wonderful, they keep you awake even though your brain and body is tired. I think I am going to drink 1 cup of each everyday,so that I can be awake all the time. My sleeping has shorten from 8 hours to 6 hours everyday, due to the powerful of these drinks.

I have a good news, our application for the apartment has approved, and contract will start on this friday. Therefore, we can have the apartment's key by this friday, and start paying rent. I cant wait moving to the apartment, having 2 nice housemates staying together. I think I have to stop here to continue my revision.

时间飞逝，一个星期又过去了。这个星期应该是我在上课以来最空闲的一周，因为这一周没有考试。可是我依然很忙，忙着准备下个星期的考试，还有买家具的问题。过去几天，好像有点不快乐，可能是大考将近还有搬家的问题，造成压力多了，烦恼多了。也可能是几天没和家人聊天了，因为家里的Modem坏了。我一直以为自己不想家，后来我发现我好像在逃避着现实，我经常梦见我回到马来西亚。有时想起家的时候，眼泪一直在眼里打滚，心情很不愉快。所以我选折了逃避。我的表哥要结婚了，可是我没办法参加他的婚礼。我堂姐的儿子出生了，我没办法看着他长大。原来出国读书，要付出代价，错过很多家庭的快乐。


今天是星期五，不知为什么今天的心情特别好。可能是下雪的关系。白白的雪，悠悠的被风吹着，飘到我身上，变成了水滴，好像是一颗颗的水晶。走在飘雪的环境和软软的雪地上，感觉特别的好。上完课后，突然想弹钢琴。可能是下雪的关系，谈起钢琴也特别的快乐。音乐加美景真的很舒服，过去的不快乐，烦恼和压力统统抛去了后头。很久没有好像今天那么快乐了，原来快乐可以那么简单。今天我发现，原来闭上眼睛弹钢琴可弹出一种不同的味道。我想以后不开心的时候，就到楼下弹钢琴。钢琴声可以让我望去烦恼。可是，搬出去后我就没什么机会弹钢琴了。

I had my contract signed yesterday. I was happy because I finally settled one important thing and I dont need to look for apartments and rooms any more. We like the place because it is convenient, it is near to bus stops and grocery stores. Now I have to really think of my furnitures problems.

I am happy that I finally bought a desk, because I get one thing done. I have to think find some other furniture right now such as : bed, mattress, chair, lamp and so on. If anyone know people who selling these items, pls let me know.

Yesterday was a great day, first was I signed a contract, second was bought a desk with my friend's help, third was POOl. I went to play pool on campus. This was my first time been there. I went there with my 2 korean friends. We play 8 games, and I won 4 of the game. I think I am just being lucky, I am not good at pool. I started to feel that I have quite a lot of friends here, and started to have some life rather than studying all the time. I went to eat Korean food last week, play piano with friend, went shopping and played pool with friends. Thanks to all my friends here, I think FRIENDS are really important especially you are away from home. Now I have realised how true is the chinese idiom "在家靠父母，在外靠朋友"。

Human life cycle involve with few categories. Baby, children, teenagers, adult, elderly. Which one do you think is the best?

When I was young, I thought being an adult is good. Because adults can make their own decision, enjoying their life by earning enough money and having their own family. When I was young, I did not have a lot of freedom both in social and financial. I was not allowed to go shopping with friends, afraid of asking permission to go to friend's house or party, I could not cycle to school because of heavy traffic even though I liked to do that so much, I could not buy toys and things that I wanted so much. I had a lot of restriction because of my MUM. She was very strict and I was quite afraid of her.

When I was a teenager, my parents let me to have a lot of freedom but I still could not make my own decision. Therefore, I still like to be an adult. I was so happy when I turn 21th years old. I told myself that I became an adult and I have to make my own decision. I have make quite a lot of decision since then. The biggest one is to study in Canada.

Now, I am an ADULT, I found that becoming an adult is not really good. It is because we have to make a lot of decision, need a lot of problems solving, need socialise, need education, need hard work and need more money to spend. I changed my mind, I thought ELDERLY is better than adult. Since Elderly have much money from savings, pension and from their children. They do not need to work nor study but enjoying life everyday. I wish to play with my grandchildren, travel around, gardening and socialise with old friends if I am an elder.

However, something changed my mind again today. I think becoming a BABY is the best. Because elderly may suffer from sickness and problems. Why i think baby is the best? It is because a baby does not need to do anything. His or her jobs are sleep and eat repeatedly. Food will be in front of him once he cries, after finishing he can straight away close up his eyes. He does not need washing up, BATHING by himself, thinking so on and so forth. I really wish I am a baby or more specifically a baby who will never grow up. Because becoming a child is the beginning of all I described above.

It was my 4th time gone to see the manager, and finally got to see her and the apartment rooms. She was not there when we were to see her, eventhough we had an appointment with her. . The apartment is really close to our campus, 5 mins bus ride or 15 mins walk from my faculty building. The rent is not too expensive nor too cheap, $ 977 for a 3 bedrooms apartment. BUT it is going to increase in JAN to $ 1010. The rent is include all hydro,heat and electric but it is not furnished. So today we met her, and there are a lot of problems bothering us:



1) The apartment is available on 15th Nov. There are people coming to see the rooms next week. Once we submiting application + deposit, then we are safe to have the rooms but it is AVAILABLE this month, means we have to pay the rent from this week. 3 of us have our own place and fully paid, so we have to pay double rent if we applying it now.

2) One of us have contract with other house, before she ends her contract she cant apply for this apartment. Her contract ends in June, she cant apply anytime soon until she can sublet to others. If she cant apply, then only 2 of us applying and 2 of us paying the rent.


3) Since there are not furnished, not even for lights and curtains. I have to spend quite a lot of money on furnitures. Problems are where do I find cheap furnitures? I dont tend to buy new furnitures because I may not staying here for long ( well,my expected graduation date is May 2010), and unlike my housemates, they are staying for 3 or 4 years more, they can afford to buy new items.



4) Each one of us need a co-signer . I think I can find a co-signer, but not my housemates. If they cant find a co-signer, we have to pay 1 year full rent.

早上起来就发现外面的景色变得白白的，代表着冬天的降临。虽然我不是第一次体会到下雪，我依然很喜欢下雪的日子。 这可能是我曾经有过美好经历。2003 年，当我17岁考完大考后，我与我的好友一同参加了北京旅游团。那时我第一次感受冬天的气候还有享受下雪的情景。考完试能放松一下，是多么好的感觉。

第二次感受下雪是在2005年，在多伦多代两个月的冬天。 那个时候真的很快乐，因为那时才考完高中3大考，过着无忧无虑的生活。每一天都跟着男朋友上课去，但不必专心听课，不必提起笔摘笔记，更不需要考试。多伦多的雪比北京下得多，我很喜欢往有雪的地方走。一起走的时候，我很喜欢把我的手放进他的衣袋，很喜欢看到我俩在雪地中留下的脚印。所以我觉得下雪的情景很浪漫，每当我看到白白的景色，不自禁地在偷笑，心中充满着喜悦。


朋友告诉我说这里的冬天会维持到明年的三月。现在已经是零下一二度，我还很很喜欢这样的气候。再过不久，到处都是满满的雪，气候也会越来越冷。朋友都说我不会喜欢这里的冬天，因为一二月份的冬天会是零下四五十度。真的希望我能受得了，因为我不想因那而破坏了我对冬天的期待和影响冬天带给我的喜悦。

Today, I being told that my mum was in hospital and was waiting for a surgery. Although it is not a big surgery, I am sad and worry. I am sad that I can't stay by her side to support her and help her. I am worry that she might not get well very soon and have problem walking after the surgery. When I had appendix surgery, my mum was there for me always. As a daughter who is far a way from her, I really cannot do anything for her but pray for her.



Her leg was not well since a few years ago. She has been seeing physiotherapist, Chinese and western medical & therapy but she was still not well . Seeing and thinking her walking painfully and applying cream on her foot, my feeling was very sad. My mum is working hard for paying my expensive tuition fees. The sad thing is I cant do anything for her now in return.



I wish she can recover and walk perfectly as soon as possible.

What I can do now is study hard, find a good job in future and earn money for her to enjoy her life. Daddy and Mommy, you two must stay healthy always so that you can enjoy your life in future.

为何没降临？

I had a long time never listen to music, since I was in Canada. Last time, when I was in Malaysia, I like to listen to radio. By doing so, I tend to know a lot of songs, especially new songs. I used to read news paper daily for the entertainment part. I got to know a lot about new albums, concerts of singers, and their gossips. However, I did nothing when I was here. I don't even know what movies are available and what movies or songs are nice.

I used to download a lot of songs online last time, but my favorite downloading site ( baidu) is no longer available. I did not download any songs since then. During the weekend, something prompt me to listen to chinese songs. I was happy that I found a good websites for listen to chinese songs. It is very convenient and easy, without downloading the songs, they are available within a seconds. http://www.99real.com/

I quickly gone through the list and select some songs sang by Fish Leong and Jay Chou. While listen to songs, I like to read their lyrics and understand them. Some lyrics are really bad and meaningless. I like songs with meaningful lyrics. I started to not admire S.H.E whom I admired a lot last time. I found their songs are meaningless and just sing for fun + EARN MONEY. However, I tend to like Jay Chou now whom I used to dislike him. Last time, I was curious why people admire him. He is not handsome, his songs are unclear and he change gf quite often. He changed my thinking and impress me by his movie "Secret". I like the movie because i think the plot is good. I like his songs after watching his movies. I started to pay attention to his songs after that, I found that his songs are good and not simply composed and the lyrics are very well written.

On the 31th of Oct, it is the Halloween day which is very popular in western country. Throughout the weeks, people here started decorate the place and busy thinking of what to wear for costumes. On that day, I saw a lot of people dressed up to school. Some of them are really dressing well, with heavy make up and wigs on head.

My friend told me something about Halloween. Trick or Treat is a costume for children typically on Halloween. Where the children will dress up and went around the neighbourhood for candies and treats. If somebody fail to give them treats, they can play tricks on them, such as throwing stones and mass up the garden.

My residence have a Trick or Treat function too, although they are not children. I did not join them and I think I don't really adapt to this culture. Halloween seems a normal day for me, studying and playing game in my room as usual.

This is my first time experienced with Daylight Saving Time. Most people think it is nothing special because this happened every year. When I told my friends from Asia about this, they were quite surprised and confused about it. Daylight Saving time is typically adjust clocks to one hour later, this happens during autumn. It will be adjusted an hour ahead during spring. The purpose for this is to prolong the availability of daylight. During Autumn or winter, the sun appears to rise early, when people are usually asleep. By adjusting one hour later, the sun set one hour later and it seems to stretch the day longer.

The reason DST works is because its saves energy due to less artificial light needed during the evening hours.

I was told to adjust my time before I go to bed on Saturday night. Because the DST is started at 2am on Sunday. So if I set my time before I sleep, I will gain one hour more of bed time. However, I tend not to change my time yet because I don't want to sleep more than usual. Surprisingly, I was awake at 2am and I saw the time change automatically at both my computer and cell phone. It is good so that people wont forget to adjust their time.

Last Wednesday, I had a field trip to Lucerne Ice cream Plant. The trip is really fun, I learnt quite a lot of things and fully understand when the QA was explaining. The Ice cream class taught us a lot of thing about ice cream.

The most amazing thing throughout the whole session was the ice cream freezer store room. We walked into it without any jacket but lab coat. It was really cold, the temperature in the freezer room is -20 over. In the ice cream freezer, there are tons of ice cream stacked on one another, the whole freezer is really a large area. I think there is 2 to 3 story high. It was my first time ever see so much ice cream.

The plant manager is very generous. They prepared every products with different flavours for us. There are more than 15 different flavours of ice cream, we were like having ice cream buffet, tasting all different ice cream. I prefer 3 of them, there are nutty better, maple walnut, and rum raisin. There are too many ice cream and we cant afford to finish them. We were allowed to bring back the unfinished ice cream too. So our lecturer took a a box and packed everything to bring back to school. He told us that we will have a class cream party in one of these days.

After visited to the Ice cream plant, we had a chance to visit their cheese cutting plant. It is only a small plant cutting cheese and packed nicely. It was my first time seeing such a big cube of cheese. The cheese was shipped in a big box, is about the size of a big tv.

This is my 4th time visiting a food manufacturer plant. This is the most fun because the products are very desired and the process are interesting since we knew quite a lot of things during class.
