Snapshots of My Life
Here are a few random moments from life over the past few months. Well, these first few pictures go back further than that. They are pictures that needed to be scanned and never made it in with the original posts. First, here are Connor and Aiden's spring soccer pictures. Yes, spring...
And Aiden's Machine Pitch photo from the summer...
Now, the rest of the pictures are from the last couple months. So, here's a look at a bunch of random moments from our life. Viv and Mike went out for ice cream one night. Viv decided it would be fun to cheese for the camera...
Again...
And again...
And again...
One Saturday, Mike asked Cohen to go clean his room. After Cohen had been up there for awhile, Mike went to check on the progress. The room was still pretty messy, but Cohen had taken the time to set up this TMNT play set (that was in pieces before) and had even carefully positioned all his Ninja Turtle figurines inside it. Can you say OCD?
One night, I needed to run to Lowe's to look for a curtain rod for the dining room (more on that in a future post). I called Kristin to see if she wanted to come with me. It took us all of five minutes to pick out a curtain rod. Well, it seemed lame that we had only been gone from our families for a few minutes, so we decided to make a girls night out of it. We went to JCW's for shakes...
And then rounded out the night with a trip to Smith's Marketplace where we stumbled upon these for our parents...
Now if *that* isn't an exciting night out, I don't know what is. Don't be too jealous! We decided a night this amazing deserved it's own hashtag. #momsgonewild Fitting, right?!?
My job comes with some perks. One happened to be that I got to hang out with a couple of Batmobiles that were brought into the station one night. Here's Val Kilmer's...
And Michael Keaton's...
#momsgonewildpartdeux happened when all three sisters went to Swiss Days. Mom was out of town, so it was just the three of us--but we still had a great time shopping, talking and eating scones bigger than our heads...
Here's another perk of my job. I got to meet the one and only Gladys Knight one morning. I guess that makes me an official Pip. She was so kind and gracious to all of us, and she's gorgeous too. How does she look so amazing at 70-years-old? I must find out her secret...
This kid beat me at bowling--by a lot. My self esteem was officially in the toilet for several hours. Then I got over it...
Have you ever tried cabbage salsa? It's awesome! Every year, after LOTOJA is over, we go to our favorite little Mexican restaurant in Jackson Hole. They make this great cabbage salsa that we all love. Mike tried to recreate it at home and actually came pretty close. It was delicious...
As you probably know by now, my co-anchor, Amy, and I always end up dressing alike. We are definitely on the same wavelength because it happens several times a month. Well, apparently, Jimmy (our movie critic) has joined that wavelength because he's starting to do it too. This was red and black day, I guess...
The Ogden Temple was dedicated toward the end of September. Kristin babysat our little kids while we went to one session and then we babysat Landon for another. Kristin sent me these cute pictures that she took while she was watching the kiddos. Here they all are hanging out on the love sac...
And, I just thought this was the cutest thing ever. Look at Vivvie's arm around Cohen. Love how close these two are to each other...
Viv is a girlie girl, but she can keep up with the boys too. Sometimes her two sides combine, like this day when she was "Ninja Princess" for the afternoon...
"As long as you have a smile on your face and a fedora on your head, everything will be alright." --Deep Thoughts, by Connor...
Cohen and Vivienne at "Engineering Day" at Cohen's school...
Every fall, our school puts on a carnival for the kids and their families. There are lots of fun little games and food vendors. The older boys went with their friends, so we didn't see them much--but here are a few pictures of Cohen and Vivvie playing the games...
Vivienne is a little cheater, but she's so cute that no one will call her out on it...
We finally ran into Connor and his friends for a few minutes, but never saw Aiden and his friends...
Watch out for vampires...
Especially the ones in disguise...
Uh, Viv, watch out for those teeth surrounding your head. And, Mike, you're crooked--just FYI...
Vivvie got a henna tattoo at the carnival. The longer you leave it on, the longer it stays. Viv left it on for several hours before washing it off, so she had this design imprinted on her arm for almost two weeks before it finally disappeared...
After the carnival, we came home and watched "Enchanted." Vivvie had never seen it, and we knew she would love it. Well, she did love it. She loved it so much that she insisted on dressing up in one of her princess dresses and going to her own ball afterwards. Daddy was her date...
We went to the Body Worlds Exhibit at The Leonardo Museum. It's the traveling exhibit that uses real human cadavers to show you what the inside of our bodies looks like. Mike and I thought it was fascinating. Connor and Aiden really liked it. Cohen was slightly disturbed--to say the least--and was requesting to leave about 30 seconds into the door. And, Viv was just happy to be there. If you have older kids, I recommend it. If they're younger, not so much...
Another twin day. It was even the exact shade of blue. It's seriously strange, people...
Having fun at a very cold and rainy Real Salt Lake game...
Playing at the park with cousins in between General Conference sessions...
Climbing a few trees as well...
And just swinging the time away...
Everyone back at Nana and Poppy's house waiting for the afternoon session to begin...
I got this fortune. My first thought was, "because four whiny kids isn't enough?!?"
As we were getting ready for family pictures, I realized that Cohen's outfit reminded me of a certain character from a certain 80s movie. Can you guess which one? Think October 26, 1985...
Speaking of pictures, here are my kids' school pictures for this year. Handsome little fellas...
Another Real game in the cold...
Picture of the partial solar eclipse sent in by a viewer. Thought it was pretty cool...
Amy went on maternity leave at the end of October. Management brought back a familiar face to anchor several of the weekends with me. It's my old co-anchor, Issa, who did the show with me the first time before it was cancelled. Love hanging out with this guy...
Teaching Landon the art of the selfie...
Cohen has the selfie thing down pat now...
Halloween trinkets + Vivvie = Weird things like "Bat Princess"...
Mike reading a story to Cohen and Viv while we waited for her Pediatric Endocrinologist appointment. It was Halloween--hence the pirate costumes...
A late night dinner for me and a late night snack for Aiden. Our conversation was about FDR's "There is nothing to fear but fear itself" speech. How many nine-year-olds want to talk about stuff like that? Love this kiddo's brain...
Mike and I have still been sleeping on the same mattress that we've slept on our entire marriage. That's 14 years! Yes, FOURTEEN YEARS on the same mattress. We were overdue for a new one. Well, Mike has been known to over analyze decisions from time-to-time. Case in point--it can take him 30 minutes just to decide what to order for dinner sometimes. I'm not even kidding about that. So, I'm sure you can imagine how fun he is to go mattress shopping with. He had to try out every mattress in the store at least 22 times in order to be sure we were buying the right one...
For the record, we ended up buying the one that I predicted five minutes into our shopping trip that we would end up buying! It's pretty heavenly! However, when we bought it, I didn't think about how much taller it was than our old mattress. It makes our bed and nightstands look teeny tiny! I'm going to need either stairs or a serious vertical jump to get into it each night. However, once I get there, I don't even care about that because it's so comfy...
So, there's a few moments from our life over the past couple months. Love this wild and crazy life of ours. --Lindsay
