Vivvie Turns Five
Our Vivvie Girl is five-years-old! I can't believe my baby is five!! She wanted to have a "Rapunzel Birthday Party" with all her friends to celebrate.
To decorate, I made a bunch of floating lanterns and just taped them to the ceiling. We had some in the entryway for the girls to see when they first arrived...
Some over the island...
Some over the table...
And a strand of lanterns between the kitchen and family room...
We also decorated with Flynn Rider Wanted Posters too...
We started the party out with lunch...
We ate sailboats--an orange wedge on top of jello. I had a hard time finding blue jello, so I got purple and tried to turn it blue with food coloring, but that just turned it black. I probably should have bought green and tried adding the blue to that. Oh well...
Rapunzel braids--braided pretzel sticks straight out of the bag...
Pub Grub--fruit skewers...
Magic Golden Flower Juice--Crystal Light Lemonade...
And Maximus Apples...
Here are all our cute party princesses. They each wore a princess dress to the party. Starting from Vivienne and going clockwise, we have Vivvie, Ella, Harper, Hazel, Swazey, Bentlee, Ilaria, Charlotte, and Kira...
After lunch, we played some games. First, we played a game we called "All Tangled Up". The girls split up into teams of two. Each team was given a roll of yellow crepe paper--yellow so that it looked like Rapunzel's golden hair. One girl tried to wrap her partner in as much yellow crepe paper as she could in one minute. We ended up with an odd number of girls, so Ashlee was gracious enough to step in and play...
Next, we played a Tangled version of Pin the Tail on the Donkey. It was Pin the Pan on Flynn's Nose...
Then I gave each of the girls sticky lizards, and we played "Pascal Toss" where the girls tried to get their sticky lizard into the frying pan...
Then we did a little art project. The girls got to paint their own floating lanterns. We put Mike's work shirts over the top of their pretty princess dresses to protect them. I think we came away without getting any paint on clothes, so I'll call that a success...
You'll notice Grandpa in the background of some of these shots. He came out to visit for a few days over Viv's birthday...
After cleaning up the paint mess, it was time for cake and ice cream...
And then presents...
It was a fun little birthday party! Vivvie is still talking about how much she loved it, even a few months later! It was a lot of work, but all the girls had a great time.
The next day was Vivvie's actual birthday. We held a family party that night with all the cousins. We did dinner, and then opened presents...
And, of course, ended the night with more cake and ice cream. We had cupcakes, but Viv wanted her leftover birthday cake from the party the day before, so we put more candles in it and lit it up. Haha...
Greg and Dan's birthdays are the same week as Viv's, so they got to blow out candles on the cupcakes. They look thrilled, don't they?
It was a fun weekend celebrating our big five-year-old! She's loving being five, and is looking forward to Kindergarten in the fall. I can't believe I will soon have all four of my kids in public school. Where have the years gone?!? When they were all small, there were some days where it felt like they'd never grow up. Now, I feel like I can't get life to slow down. Each year goes faster and faster, and I know they'll start leaving before I know it. Where's the pause button?!? --Lindsay
