August 2019

August 2019

In addition to the time spent and the pool and just hanging out, we took a quick overnight trip to Hershey Park.  Easton brought his buddy David so he has someone to go on roller coasters with.  Cache isn't into them, and Declan would love to ride everything, but he's too short for the big ones.  On his tippy toes, he could pull off 54 inches.

I'm pretty sure we should skip the amusement park next year and just go straight to the 'souvenir' store - which is basically just insane amounts of candy.

Cache had a friend join his soccer team this year who was on his original team when he started in Kindergarten (Brayden in the red shorts).

At the Loudoun United soccer game at Segra Field which was recently finished near our home.

I've been wanted to take the boys to ClimbZone - an indoor climbing arena with like 60 different climbing walls.  The place totally exceeded our expectations.  It's a little far and a little pricey, but definitely worth the adventure (and the Groupon).  For this trip Easton brought his friend Luke.

I've been working on a little interior updates.  My sister, Emily, suggested I take out the basketball hoop from the entryway and make a space I enjoy.

This is the essence of Declan.  He spent HOURS on the front porch burning and mixing different candles.  Pure joy for this kid.  Can't you see it on his face?!

My boss and friend, Beatriz, had an extra ticket to see the Beach Boys at our local outdoor theater called Wolf Trap.  I saw the Beach Boys with my dad in Seattle when I was just a kid.  That makes them pretty old, but it was a beautiful day and a fun concert to attend.

Finally, the summer vacation ends (and my vacation begins) as the kids head back to school.
Easton starting 6th grade.

Cache 4th grade.

Xander and Declan 2nd grade.

I've always made these little tags for the kids specials and lunch time in elementary school.  Easton's middle school tags got a little more complicated.

July End of Trip - St. Louis

On the final stretch back home, we stopped in St. Louis, MO and rode up the Gateway Arch. It felt a little claustrophobic, but it was actually pretty cool.  It had some nice vistas from the top and a cool museum in the basement.

At the point of the vacation where everyone just needs their space and yet no one can seem to leave each other alone!

Hmmm.  I like this ping pong table.

And we are home.  Heaven help me.
