Sticks and Stones

With all the stuff in the news about public figures / reality stars splitting up and cheating on their spouses, there are constant attacks on those couples from others outside of the family. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but when one begins to judge their decisions it makes the commentary you read in the press and online that much more unbearable.

Being from a broken home, I know first hand what divorce is like. Despite the fact that my parents were splitting up I continued to have a wonderful childhood and I'm still close with both of my parents. My dad wasn't a governor and neither of my parents had their own reality show. So whenever I see these stories, I immediately think of the kids that are a part of these families. Not only will they have to deal with the difficulites of joint visitations and nasty remarks about the other parent, but the whole world will be making their remarks as well. Just because these people are in the public eye, doesn't mean we know their lives. We don't see what happens behind closed doors or when the cameras are off. Everyone makes mistakes, some are obviously more trivial than others. But, it always reminds me to never be envious of someone else, because no one is perfect and every family has their dysfunction.

If you're religious...then pray for these families and move on.

"Let he without sin throw the first stone, but alas, all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God."

p.s. go see The Hangover. awesome movie. has any seen Transformers, yet?

mickey mouse records...

As I was driving back to work from lunch, a song came on that reminded of something. I have several songs that do this to me.

Here is a list:

Rick Astley - "Never Gonna Give You Up"
reminds me of Sky City (do you remember that store)
*sidenote* this was the first record I ever bought.

Fleetwood Mac - "Gyspy"
reminds me of Big Lots!

Belinda Carlisle - "Heaven is a Place on Earth"
reminds of Big Lots! (apparently, my mom did a lot of shopping here in the 80's)

Shenandoah - "Bop!"
reminds me of my babysitters house when I was 2.

Taylor Dayne - "Tell It To My Heart"
reminds me of Lottie Jean's School of Dance

*this is what I played my Rick Astley record on*

You're Welcome

So...the last time I had a blog was right after I graduated college in 2005. Circumstances and mishaps came up with my stories that I wrote and I voluntarily took it down. However, I'm in the mood to be quirky, clever, and connect with people who can give me feedback on stuff I enjoy, hate. Honestly I need a new hobby. I don't know how to Twitter...and Facebook is taking up my spare time, so I figured doing something where I actually write down collective thoughts would be a better use of time than looking at someones status 1,000,000+ times a day.

This time around, this blog will rarely be about stories that have happened. The format this time around will be more a stream of consciousness. It's gonna be personal...but not THAT personal. I'll keep it clean and classy this time around. Ory. i'll atleast tr

So...I know you've missed me and you're welcome. :)
