iLove Tuesday Tunes

Thanks for all the sweet comments on my Christmas decor. You all are really sweet! :)

From now until the Tuesday before Christmas, I will share with you my favorite Christmas/Holiday songs as part of the iLove Tuesday Tunes series (compliments of hotpants from Handbags and Handguns)

Seriously, I love this song. Not just because my boo JT is in it, but it seriously has a good beat. And it is absolutely absurd and hilarious.

Apt 222 has the Christmas Spirit

So, once again I didn't take any pictures this weekend. I mean, what was there to take pictures of? I spent the majority of my five day weekend on my mom's couch watching Deadly Women episodes on the I.D. channel.

But before Thanksgiving began, I did manage to get up all our Christmas decor up in our apartment. Being that I live in like a 100 square foot apartment, there is only so much I can do to spruce it up for the holiday season, but I do and I love it.

As you know, I collect ornaments...so I was really excited to put up my 5 new ornaments this year. I'm still really bummed I didn't pick ornaments up when I was in Knoxville or Louisville this year. :(
Our "Charlie Brown Tree." It cost about $25 at Wal-Mart 4 years ago. It comes in three parts and assembly can be done in less than 2 seconds. I found that bow in our closet and just tacked it up there for the time being.
We are BIG Gamecock fans I tell you. This was the wreath we've been using for the last 3 years and sadly, it's seen better days. So I decided to NOT display it on the door and instead put it below a Gamecock print and above Santa's doorway.
And here is my Christmas wreath I made this year. I realize that the green bow is a little bright, but I don't care. If you want to make your own custom wreath, you can read this post and find out how! :)

Have you got all your holiday decorations up, blog buddies?

Rivals!

Today is the big state rilvary game. South Carolina vs Clemson. If you live in SC, you're either a Gamecock or a Tiger. Plain and simple.
Being that I'm a South Carolina alum, you know which team I'm rooting for. I hope that we'll pull out a win and the Clemson fans will look like Drew does in the pictures below. :)

UPDATE:

WE WON! 29-7! For the first time in 40 years, we beat our biggest rival two years in a row! What...an accomplishment! So proud to be a Gamecock this year. Next Saturday, we take on the Auburn Tigers to fight for the SEC Championship! First time in history we've ever competed for this title.

The Card of Excellence that never was...

So remember back in October, when I did this post about the Christmas Card of Excellence I was in the process of creating. Well, I spent many tireless hours working, scuplting, and creating 3 versions of what I thought was the perfect Christmas card (ie when not busy at work I played around). Only to find out that my printer that I never use was out of ink. Oh well...

So I wanted to share what could have been with you blog buddies.

1. I think Family Stickers are ridiculous...and since I'm absolutely positively single I thought this card would be fun.
2. 2010 was the year of Betty White. Nuff said.
3. My Michael Jackson card from last year was the inspiration for this card. Sadly, it was at the expense of the late Gary Coleman.

Luckily, I was able to order some neatly priced MikWright holiday cards which are humorous, but not near as glorious as these above cards.

Flashback Friday

"Kickin' it just for you!"
I know I said last week would be the last rap tune for my Flashback Friday...but this can't really be considered rap, can it?

I promise, promise to do a non rap/hip-hop/R & B tune next Friday.

Do y'all have any suggestions, blog buddies? Let me be your DJ.

Ornament Swap

As you all know, I LOVE ornaments. I was so excited on Wednesday as I was putting up my tree that I had 4 new ornaments to add (pictures soon).

I'm a new follower to Mommy to a lil lady[bug]'s blog and she is hosting an ornament swap with other bloggers! It sounds so fun and this will be the 2nd bloggy ornament swap I'm doing this season. I'm so excited to find out my swap partner(s). Who doesn't love to get stuff in the mail?!

If you're interested in joining her swap click this link. You have until December 1st to add your name to the list.

Christmas Crafty

Yesterday, I was in the Christmas spirit and decided to spend some time at Hob Lob (or Hobby Lobby for those that don't know). That place is the shizz! If you ever need any crafty things or holiday decor...Hobby Lobby is your dude. They ALWAYS, ALWAYS have sales and currently the majority of their Christmas decor is 50% off. I'm for reals, blog buddies.

I was chatting it up with my work BFF, Jeannie yesterday and she told me about the wonderful idea of how to make your own wreath. So...I took a trip, got my items, and made my wreath in less than 5 minutes. And since it was so easy, I wanted to share with you.
  • Wreath
  • Ball Ornaments of your choice
  • Large Bow of your choice
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Put a pipe cleaner through the top loop of the ball (where the hook would normally go)
  • Tie it securely to the back of the wreath. If your wreath has a round metal frame I would tie it on that.
  • Repeat steps 1 and 2...leaving space at the bottom for your bow.

And there you have it! A pretty new wreath.

Total cost (after 50% discount on everything): $10.32

I think i'm going to take another trip to Hob Lob tonight and get some more ornanments to spruce it up.

The fun part is you can change it up each year with new ornaments and bows.

Flashback Friday

"ya'll know me still same ole G"

I wish Dr. Dre would put out another album...soon. I've seen him on a commercial recently so I know he's still out there. And I kinda miss the crazy Eminem. I don't think I'm really a fan of this cleaned up version we got introduced to in 2010. But kudos to being sober, etc.

And I PROMISE next Flashback Friday will NOT be rap.

Have a great weekend, blog buddies! :)

Wee Bit of Me Wednesday

{one}

what time do you normally wake up?
Well, my alarm clock is set for 6:30. Then the second alarm is set for 6:45. But I usually don't talk myself outta bed until like 7:15. I'll watch The Today Show for a little while and MUST be outta bed by 7:30 in order to make to to work by 8:30.

{two}

do you have a go-to song for karaoke?
I don't have a "go to" song for karaoke, but I love to sing it...after some totties have been consumed of course. The last song I did on karaoke was "Hey Lover" by LL Cool J & Boyz II Men. I know all the words by heart.

But I've been really wanting to tackle "Shawty Swing My Way" by KP and Envi.

{three}

if you could only see black and white except for one color, what color would you choose to see?
I don't have a favorite color...but I think I would like to see blue. The blue sky and blue crystal water is so pretty.

{four}

what color best matches your personality?
Pink. I would say Red since it's my hair color, but I hate that color. So i'll go with Pink. It's sorta Red, but it's a happier color and I'm a pretty happy person...most of the time.

{five}

if you could choose one meal to cook better than anyone else, what would it be?
Oh gosh I don't know. I don't cook. The last thing I cooked was Taco Soup and I thought it was pretty delish.

{six}

how many keys do you have on your key ring?
I literally had to count. But's it's 7 keys. 2 for work, 1 for apt, 1 for car, 2 for Mom's, and one unknown.

{seven}

do you give your pets birthday/christmas gifts?
Seeing has I don't have any pets, this question cannot be answered. Sorry folks.

{eight}

when your plate has different foods on it, do you mix or not?
I don't intentionally mix, but if the rice gets in with the mashed potatoes, or the corn with the peas, I don't mind.

{nine}

if you could hire someone to do one thing for you all the time, what would it be?
One thing? Really? It's a toss up between folding laundry or grocery shopping. I despise folding my laundry. The washing/drying I can do...but once they are done they usually sit in a pile on my floor for a few days until I get up the urge. And the grocery shopping is so tedious. I shop at the Wal-Mart grocery and it's always packed.

{ten}

when flying, do you prefer the window or aisle seat?
Window. I love to look out the window and see everything from a bird's eye view. I can remember seeing the Eiffel Tower flying into Paris and the Grand Canyon flying to Vegas. And I don't ever have to use the restroom on a flight (no matter how long) so I'm not constantly having to push my way through someone else to use it.

I know a lot of you may not be rap/hip hop fans...but I'm a big one, so please, bare with me. And if you're like me and like rap/hip hop then enjoy my new fave songs below. :)

Wee Bit of Me Wednesday

{one}
do you collect anything?
Yes. Christmas Ornaments.
I started when I went to Paris, France in 2008. Now everytime I go to a new place I get an ornament for my tree. Me and two of my best girlfriends get together every year and exchange ornaments too! This will be the fourth year...I LOVE that tradition.

{two}
what is one cleaning tip that you swear by?
I don't do THAT much cleaning.
I more or less keep things tidy, BUT I love my swiffer duster.

{three}
who would you call for bail money?
Mom.

{four}
what is one thing you miss about being a kid?
Summer Break, Spring Break.
Old School Nickelodeon shows.
No bills.

{five}
name a few of your guilty pleasures.
Blogging.
Britney Spears.
Reality Shows.

{six}
how early do you start your holiday shopping?
After Thanksgiving. I am NOT one of those Black Friday girls though.
That is ridic. I would have a nervous breakdown fighting someone for a Yankee Candle on sale.

{seven}
what is a family tradition that you would like to pass on to your significant other/children?
Well, each year me and my mom's side of the family get together on Christmas Eve and pile up in a van and go look at Christmas lights.
We call it the "Tacky Light Tour."

{eight}
what do you consider your greatest achievement?
Graduating college.

{nine}
what do you do to pamper yourself?
Buy clothes.
A good run through Forever21.com makes me feel sooooo good.

{ten}
if you were to start your own restaurant, what would it be called?
I've never thought about starting my own restaurant. I have wanted to start my retail store and call it either...
Cloud 9
or
Belle Avenue

Wordless Wednesday (sorta)

I had my first "blogging milestone"...I made it to 50 followers! Whoo hoo! When I started typing away this summer, I thought I was talking to air. Slowly, but surely people started catching on and realized how awesome I am (I kid, I kid) and actually wanted to read what I had to write. I know some of my fellow bloggers have close to a million followers and 50 is nothing, but to me...it's HUGE! Thank you ALL! I wish I could give each and every one of you a little hug...

Lesson Learned

So...I'm sure some of you are wondering what happened Sunday on the "date" with the Bartender? Well...nothing happened. Yup, that's right I was more or less stood up. WTF?! I'll be honest, I was majorly bummed.

Remember my post from Friday...where I discussed having a crazy Thursday night? Well, that night my alter ego, "Lizzy Jean" made an appearance. I hate that bitch. She gets me in so much trouble some times. And this proved to the be the case. I'll spare you the details, blog buddies, only because running the gray memories through my own brain has caused much humiliation that I would rather not replay. Long story short, it caused a little road block in whatever this thing Bartender and I had.

I sulked the whole weekend and thought "why did I screw this up before it even started?"...I bothered my friends with my rants about my problems...to which I'm sure they were thinking "really?! quit BBM'ing/texting/e-mailing me about your thoughts on this matter every two seconds." But, being the good friends they are put up with it and told me everything was going to be okay. I really appreciate them holding back what they probably REALLY wanted to say. It's good to have friends that build you up...BUT...you need those friends that will just give it to you straight. And I knew I had that friend in co-worker Jeannie. She's a former single girl, which mucho knowledge on all kinds of dating scenario's and she's the only co-worker I feel comfortable keeping abreast with my personal life. So I gave her the low down and she basically said "He's a douche...You can do better...He's a d*ck and if I ever see him I'll punch him in the face." Now, being the girl with the crush on a douche, I tried to defend him, but the more I thought about it and the more she told me I started to realize...he does suck a fat one and all signs pointed to douche.

1. He never took me out on an actual date. Yes, there was a home cooked meal (which was nice), but there were promises of actual real life dates and they never came true.

2. He's 29 (closer to 30) and works in the service industry. In no way, am I knocking people that are servers or bartenders, but that is not the fella I really need. He stays out until all hours of the night (most nights) with his co-workers and has rando parties at his apartment. This all resembles a missing college lifestyle.

3. With the events that happened Thursday night, looking back he could have defended me and not made me feel guilty about the whole situation (brought to light by Jeannie...thank you).

4. He's shorter than me...You SAY you're 5'8", but when I wear flats...we're the same height and I'm not 5'8". Sorry...that was just a jab I had to put in there. ;)

Of course, it bums me out that this (whatever it was) is no longer...but it could be worse. I've been single forever. But rejection (Michigan boy) after rejection (Bartender) is obviously not good for the self confidence. Oh well...If I was Taylor Swift, I would write a really nasty song.

Homework:
I need a cute boy to take to a fun formal in January. Got any prospects, blog buddies?

Blog Buddies

This weekend was pretty dull to say the least. Although, I was excited about going to see my Gamecocks play...that quickly turned around the minute the game started. We lost...by a lot. :(

BUUUUUUT...I was able to meet fellow blog buddy, Jennifer. She came to the game with her boyfriend, roommate, and met up with other friends. They were tailgating right at the stadium, so before the game, we headed over to meet her. I loved her and her boyfriend, B. They were HIGH-larious!

She lives in Myrtle Beach, which is about a 4 hour drive from Greenville, SC, but I hope we can meet up and hang out again very soon!

Five Question Friday

I am running on E this morning. I woke up, looked at my clock, and it said 8:05AM. Granted...it's like 12 minutes fast, but I have to be at work at 8:30AM. So I slowly got out of bed, did a quick brush of the hair, teeth, removed last nights make-up, only to put on more for work, found an appropriate outfit for 40 degree temps (thank God it's casual Friday) and headed out the door...sans a shower or deodorant...(quit judging). I'm pretty sure I don't think I should have been on the road this morning...I'm not exactly sure that the Riesling has been drained from my system in it's entirety. It was a long night.

Sidenote: I hate it when I wake up in the morning and look at the drunken texts I've sent the night prior...OMG! I'm surprised I still have friends that want to hang out with me. Is there some kind of group you can go to for Drunk Texts Anonymous?

Anywho...I'm barely getting any work done...at work, because my stomach is crying for food, but my brain tells me I may barf at any moment. So, while I wait for 12PM to come so I can exit immediately and go get me some good ole fashioned southern grub...(I'm thinking Chicken Fingers, Mashed Potatoes, Mac and Cheese, and Fried Okra) I thought I would do a bloggy post.

1. If you could have any talent and turn it into an occupation, what would it be?
I would enjoy the talent of being an illusionist. Like Criss Angel, but minus the creepy hair-do, crappy Affliction tee's, and weird accent/lisp. I would be a cute ginger magician doing awesome street magic.

2. Would you rather have a house at the beach or a cabin in the woods?
House at the beach fo sho! I LOVE the beach. And cabin in the woods sounds dangerous. I only like the woods when the leaves are fall colors. Other than that, woods can kick rocks.

3. Is there any meaning or reasoning for the names you chose for your child/children?
Well, being that I don't have children I cannot answer the question properly. BUT...when I have kids, I don't think I'll be using any family names. They all suck! There are like 3 Ethel's, 1 Wilma, 1 Gus, not even a cool last name...Cobb, George, Crawford, Uldrick. Slim pickin's. I really like "unisex" names. Like Avery, Keaton, Brady, etc. I'm gonna try to shoot for those when the name choosin' rolls around.

4. What is your guilty pleasure?
I would say reality TV...but I don't feel guilty for watching it. So I'm gonna have to go with blogging. I know that's weird, but I like to keep my blog a "secret"...like I don't talk about it outside of the interweb. If you speak of it in public, I will cut you. ;)

5. Do you live in a house that is deep cleaned or straightened?
Straightened! My apartment definitely needs a deep cleaning...desperately.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend, blog buddies!

Holla!

Thankful Thursday

November (and Thursday because of it's alliteration) is the perfect time to give thanks. I mean, we should always count our blessings, but I just thought it would be especially appropriate since Thanksgiving is right around the corner.

My best friend Sarah's grandmother passed suddenly last night and it got me thinking that I've never lost a grandparent. My paternal grandparents passed before I was born and when I was really young, but my maternal grandparents are still alive and in great shape (for the most part) and for that I am most grateful. My best friend, Sandi's papa, as you know, has been in the hospital for some time now and he has his good days and bad days. I pray for only better days to come. Also, Sandi's former college roommate's husband is having to undergo chemo treatments for malignant lymph nodes after having cancerous melanoma removed.

Here are some things I'm thankful for each and every day...

1. My Family.

They are all in great health. There have been setbacks, but they've always overcome the odds. And I am so thankful that after 16 years my dad will be moving back to Due West, SC. Where I grew up and my mother still lives today. Since my parents got divorced, they have never lived in the same city. It's such a blessing that he will be able to retire at the end of the year and move closer. Visiting both my parents in the same day is a small blessing for which I am truly grateful.

2. My Friends.

All my friends are like my family. And I am so grateful that the majority of my friends I've known since I was a wee-one and we are still great friends to this day. It's such a blessing to have friends that you've known for years and years and you're able to still keep in touch. Some people aren't as lucky.

I have the most amazing, smart, witty, beautiful, successful, honest, and loyal friends that I could ask for. I don't know if I deserve it.

I'm also so blessed that this blog has allowed me to meet so many new people. I never thought that something I would enjoy as a hobby to make others smile, laugh, and update them on my day to day life would give me the opportunity to meet such great new gal pals! I hope I get to meet each and every one of you someday! :)

3. My Job

With the unemployment rate like it is, I'm so thankful to still have a job. When I graduated college in 2005, it took me two years until I found the job I have now. I worked so many horrendous part-time jobs and internships until I got my first "big girl job." I could write a book on all the crazy, embarrassing, horrible interview stories. I've been on more interviews in a 2 year span than I can count on my fingers and toes.

Some days I may hate my job, but the people I work with are like my family (and they are crazy...as seen in the picture above).

Well...I didn't mean to get so sappy on you blog buddies. But I just wanted to share those things that I am thankful for and I hope those that are included in this post will get a chance to see it and realize how special they are to me.

sweetbef
