THIS IS THE LIFE

My two cute friends Misty and Lorilee are both having baby boy's very soon. On Saturday I hosted their baby shower at my house. I had so much fun decorating for this shower! I love my friends so much and couldn't be happier for them. I am also happy it's them and not me;) this way I can just enjoy, love and spoil their sweet little babies without being pregnant for 9 months! I like this plan!! I want to also mention that my awesome friend Melanie made all the cookies, cupcakes and cake pops. She really is amazing they were so cute! Toby is also the husband of the year and took my kids all day that day so that I could get everything done. He helped me out so much, love him!!

Since Brooklyn's bad dreams I felt like maybe it was time to drop Brooklyn's afternoon naps. So instead of having a nap at noon Brooklyn has rest time in her room. She reads and draws and plays with her stuffed animals and I told her if she is tired she can sleep but she doesn't have to. I think it is still important to have some down time even if she isn't sleeping. Well after preschool last week she went up for her little rest time and when I went to go get her out of her room I found her like this.

Last weekend Toby wasn't on call so we decided to take that opportunity and go somewhere fun for the weekend. We haven't made it home to Utah this winter and have been really missing the snow. Brooklyn kept asking us to go up to the mountains so we could play in the snow, so thats what we did. We stayed at a time share that Toby's parents have and we had a really fun time! We got some sweet sleds at REI and then headed up the mountain. We found the perfect sledding hill and were happy that the snow had hardened a little so it was easier to climb the hills with the girls. It was a really fun weekend! The place we stayed at has a HUGE swimming pool that they had heated and even though it was freezing cold outside we still had fun swimming and getting in the hot tub after being in the snow for a few hours. Lots of good times were had, one being I forgot to bring my pj's so I had to wear Toby's red long johns that he brought to be funny, that was a definite high point!

Ok so this was hilarious because the snow was like ice so I was going so fast, I almost hit a tree, then I turned around backwards and you can tell by my face I was freaking out a tiny bit. So, to stop myself I just layed my whole body out and slid for a little ways, Toby that I looked and sounded like a crazy person. lol, it's been a while give me a break!





The girls watched a movie in the hotel later that night while we waited for our pizza and I had to post these because Brooklyn is doing the thing she has done since she was a baby. She puts her blanket up to her lips and rubs it on her top lip, it comforts her and she does it to go to sleep. It also gives her really dry chapped lips most the time.
Nikell, of course sucks her two middle fingers and pulls one piece of hair across her face with her pointer finger and then plays with the end of it. So funny!

For the past few weeks Brooklyn has been having bad dreams. I asked her the other night what her dreams were about and she told me that she had a dream that two guys tied her hands and her feat up. (so sad!!) I told her that if she has a bad dream again to say a prayer or sing a song and she will feel a lot better. So every night before bed, in her prayer, she says, "please help me to not have bad dreams and to not have dreams at all". Whenever she says this she gets this little quivering lip and it makes me feel so bad!! So last week when we had family in town Brooklyn was sleeping in our room. One night in the middle of the night I woke up, I look down and see little Brooklyn on her knees saying a quiet little prayer. She had, had a bad dream and instead of waking me up she said a prayer. I know that her prayer was answered because, I mean, lets be honest, It takes a lot to wake me up! I was able to comfort her by holding her hand and she fell right back to sleep. I was so grateful that night for our loving Heavenly Father watching out for my little girl. The dream thing has got much better and I know she is being blessed!

This week was so much fun. Having family here to hang out with was awesome. This was the funnest New Years I have had in a long time! The week was filled with playing just dance and just dance 2, hot tubbing, swimming, having s'mores by the fire, going to San Francisco, watching Yogi bear (which I would probably give a big thumbs down), My mother in law on the other hand loved it! We shopped, played a million games and partied hard on New years eve with our sparkling cider along with a short but sweet firework show by Toby. I am so sad the week is over and everyone had to go home. The girls were sad to see that everyone had gone home when they woke up yesterday morning. Hopefully we will see everyone again soon!!
