a pink(eye) easter

Oh what a weekend we have had! Friday night we rocked the cousin egg hunt at Mimi and Papa's house, Saturday we had our neighborhood party and today we mellowed out with a cozy little morning of our own. Three days of festivities seems quite fitting for Easter, don't you think?

Somehow among all the ruckus and kids and dirt and playing, Gunnar woke up from his nap yesterday with two pink eyes, a runny nose, a cough and what looks like an ear infection. I had never even seen pink eye before, so naturally I overreacted as a (pregnant) mother and washed everything he has touched and disinfected the house. It's so disheartening when I look into his swollen eyes and puffy face and I can just see how miserable he feels but he keeps on keeping as only he would. There is not much that can slow down his enthusiasm.

He looked much better this morning after some eye drops and lavender oil, but still contagious and still just as miserable. As soon as I handed him his basket, his face lit up and he yelled "backet" and ran off to find his first egg before we could even get a picture! His vigor is inspiring.

Can you spot all three eggs?

Tan really gets into the search for eggs and baskets. The Easter bunny is extra sneaky at our house.

Showered

A few weekends ago, my sweet in-laws threw a baby shower to welcome little girl. There was fun, food and lots of pink. Thank you family!

going global

Let's just preface this post with the announcement that my procrastination skills have been at their finest when it comes to this blog. I am well aware of this and I'm sure they well reach new heights once baby girl arrives but better late then never am I right? ...eh? ...eh?

Many fortnights ago, when my family paid a visit to our home for the celebration of little guy's birthday, we all piled in a couple cars and made a day trip to the thrilling and ever adventurous town of Globe. Our trip was long over do and I was surprisingly excited to check this place out. My dad's side of the family grew up there which made it a bit more nostalgic for us. The drive was quite quick and pleasant. I'm always amazed at the greenery that can be found just outside the valley.

Once we arrived, we paid a stop to some local businesses and historic buildings in true tourist fashion, then drove through town to the cemetery to find any remnant pieces of a headstone that might belong to a family member. As we asked for directions, a nice lady said "at one point you think the road is going to stop, but it doesn't...." Now let me tell you that I have heard this before. It was on a ride at Disneyland where I was buckled into a machine that was also buckled and secured to the tracks on the ground. This wasn't exactly what I had hoped to hear driving on a narrow one way road, on the side of a hill, pregnant with my 2 year old in the back seat. When we found the spot she was talking about, it took a few minutes for me to gather my wits and decide the only reasonable thing to do would be to get out of the car stand on the side of the road and have my sister drive my kid (!) while I walked the next several feet all the while keeping firm contact with the ground beneath me. It was at this point where I realized just how awesome I am. Thankfully our brush with death paid off and we were able to find a few headstones that had not been burned or destroyed over time.

By now, we were all ready for lunch. We looked on the map and asked around for a sweet spot to stop. Enter George. We had heard good things about him and thought we'd take a chance. The food was not ideal but the George was nice and his shakes were scrumptralescent. It was a fun an amusing day to say the least.

"Tree Truck"

Our backyard has become a disaster zone! We are adding 20 pine trees along our fence line, a few citrus trees a long the back, relandscaping the front of our house and many many more outdoor projects! Our goal is to get all the green done before summer and refinish our pool, add a "new jacuzz" and fire pit area and have one big party house in the fall! Holla!

The boy in Gunnar has multiplied by 38 million the past few days. He is beyond beyond happy that there is a real life "tree truck" in our backyard. What more could a 2 year old ask for really?

Let's pause for a musical break:

Nesting

Oh I have caught the nesting bug like a bear on honey. It's bad. It's real bad. The benefit, however, is that my growing list of tasks that I've been working on since August has significantly diminished. Our rooms have been rearranged. Furniture has finally been refinished and found its "final" place in the house instead of a temporary hold in the office or guest room or a closet somewhere. Curtains and frames have been hung. The garage is completely organized down to the refrigerator and mopped floors. The office and all my crafting supplies are ready to be used and the sewing machine has its own little desk for my convenience. Unfortunately the list is still long and possibly never-ending but that's what happens when you're 8 months pregnant and constantly running around with a notebook in one hand and a pen in the other. Out of all the bedrooms, Gunnar's is the one that is completely finished (for now) and I'm really loving it! I have to give credit where it's due because Tan was the one who talked me into the "dresser" that we put in his room. I had an entirely different idea but in all actuality it was pure genius! I love that it gives G the freedom to not only pick his own clothes everyday but to also help me clean up and put them away. It also just looks so cute to have a tool chest as a dresser. We all love it.

The day we finished his room and each day since, this boy grabs a book and his blanket after he wakes up from his nap and cuddles in his chair for a few. I take that as he likes his room.
