Well... I can officially say that I have RV'd!! We are always looking for a good excuse to spend some time with my best friend from high school-- Emarie Irvine (who lives in Nashville) and Sam's best friend from college-- Brian Soule (who live in State College, PA). Both of these people are near and dear to our hearts and we don't get to spend enough time with them during the year... soooooo we decided to do something we have never done before and take an RV road trip to Knoxville to see the Vols play... or try to play! =)
Who knew that packing for an RV trip was so much work!!! You pretty much need your WHOLE HOUSE!!!!! whew! This is just a very small portion of what was packed!
Sam and Soule enjoying some brunch before the big game at our lovely banquette inside the RV!
Here is a little view of the humble abode! This pic is taken from the kitchen... there you have the sofa, which I covered in a quilt to add a little color to the space! Above the driver seat is the "up stairs" sleeping loft! Probably the coziest space in the RV! As you can see... Sam is still a little sleepy! =)
There she is ... the beauty! And by beauty I mean the RV!!
Ready for game day!! It was PERFECT weather!
We stayed in an RV lot on UT's campus which was awesome!! (Thank you Casey Hill for the hook up). And there was an old train which transported us from the RV lot into the main part of campus! The train was precious! It was all decorated for fall!! And for those of you who know me, know I love decorating for the seasons!! So I really appreciated this festive effort!
We stopped for a few shots inside the train, but road in the open cart for a more scenic view!!
Soule is so friendly... making friends with some Tiger fans on the train ride over!
We then made our way to watch the band play outside the stadium before the game! A sea of orange for sure!
Then of course... the Power T before the game! Although I am not a UT fan in the least... the power T was still very cool!! Got to give the UT fans credit for great school spirit!! Go Vols!
We ran into the Allen girls at the game! Always fun to see some familiar faces!!
Sam and Soule enjoying the game!! Although, it wasn't much of a game... =(
After the game was BY FAR the highlight of the trip! We had a post game cook out at the RV! We grilled steaks and hot dogs, made taco soup, rotel, sausage balls, cookies... pretty much anything yummy and unhealthy... we ate it!!
Gotta love the travel grille... compliments of PJ Tashie!
Emarie joined the next door RVers for a good ole game of flip-cup! It was very fun getting an inside look into the true life of the RV world... its like its own culture!! Very fun I must say!
Friends from Memphis who were in Knox for the game joined the post game RV party!
Can you see this face through the screen of the RV? This would be our new RV friend JP from Brownsville, TN! He is an RV veteran! He just walked up to our window and started talking to us... RVers are so friendly! He was hilarious!
Everyone had a great time!
Carol and David smile for a quick shot!
As you can see... JP (or peaches as we now call him) made it into the RV!! He spent about an hour with us talking football and such.. until his wife finally found him! HA... she was not too happy that he had just wandered off without letting her know where he was going! But he gave us some great insights into the true life of RVers! He is a pro.
The next morning we ate another huge breakfast then play a really fun game of Quelf before we hit the road back to Memphis!! Soule had to mummify his head as part of the game... no words can explain how random/hilarious/pointless/fun this game is... you just need to try it out for yourself! VERY ENTERTAINING!!
Well that about sums up our trip!
Super fun? YES
Totally worth it? YES
Would I do it again? MOST DEFINITELY!!!
Would I do it again 7 months pregnant?? PROBABLY NOT, but it was very fun... just not the most comfy sleeping arrangements when its already hard enough to sleep in a normal bed!! --- but I will say having a bathroom on board for a 6 hour drive was a PLUS!! =)
