So we showed up to the Orem hospital at 6 AM on August 6th. After filling out paper work, they started me on pitocin.

They checked me at 8 AM (which HURTS by the way! just so you know... becuase no one told me that and it was suprising!) and then they broke my water (very weird sensation by the way. it didn't hurt though. it was just weird...) I was doing good till about 9 AM. The contractions got so bad that my whole body was shaking and I thought I was going to die.
So they guy came in at 9:30 AM and gave me an epidural... They had me sit up and lean over a pillow to do it. Davin was right infront of me holding my hands so I had something to hold on to when the contractions came. They hurt so bad! The guy did a local shot of some numbing stuff and that hurt a little bit. Enough for me to say "ouch." Davin braced himself for the big needle but I didn't even feel it! The next thing I knew he was taping the cord up my back and I asked him when he was going to do the big shot and he said he already did it! haha It was WONDERFUL! After about three more contractions, I couldn't feel a thing! All I have to say is:
God Bless Epidurals!!! :) haha I have NO idea WHAT the heck I was thinking before. We live in a day and age where we are BLESSED with advanced medicine. We should use it! My advice to everyone... GET THE EPIDURAL!! LOL The whole thing was a breeze after that!
So at about noonish the nurse said I was fully dialated and they were going to let me "rest and drop" for an hour. This means I get to lay there and rest for a bit while the baby drops deeper into the birth canal so I don't have to push so much when the time comes. I got an extra dose of the epidural at 1 PM (very smart choice. it made labor so nice!) then I threw up because of all the medicine, but it didn't last long. I shouldn't have had Sonic for breakfast that morning LOL.
The Doctor took a little big longer getting there (he was coming from surgery at another hospital) and didn't show up until 2 PM. Then they had to move my whole room around so I was where the other bed was because it was infront of the huge lights the Dr needs to stich you up. So I didn't really feel much after this. I think he did an epesiotomy, but I didn't feel or see him do it, and then he got his forcepts out. The baby was facing sideways and he had to use them to wiggle him out. I didn't even have to push! I have no recolection of the placenta coming out either. The next thing I know they laid him in my arms. He was beautiful. That is definitly the Best feeling in the world. It is a little surreal. I totally cried. That's why my eyes are watery...

I thought he looked a little big when he came out and they informed me that he was 9 lbs 5 oz! OMG! I had no idea he would be that big! I asked my midwife if I would have a big baby and she said no. She was wrong! Can you imagine if I had him on my due date (one week later than this)? ah! he could have been over 10 lbs! scarey! ... But overall everything was great. The whole experience was wonderful. Granted, it wasn't a walk in the park, but compared to the horror stories I've heard, it was fine. The whole thing only lasted about 8 hours and only about two hours of it were painful... The whole labor thing was much better than being pregant too. I HATED being pregnant. And I'm so glad that is over with :) ... well at least for a few more years that is...

Davin LOVES this little guy :)

He has A TON of freakin hair!
