Duke Campus

Feb, 27 2010

Today we got out and went exploring. We are figuring out what is around where we live. We visited the Duke Campus. It was really neat and prestigious. It just had this Old World feel. It was all older stone buildings, and in the chapel there were all kinds of stained glass windows depicting the life and ministry of Jesus.

There was obviously a basketball game that weekend. All the students were camped out in tents outside the court. It looked like they had been there for a while. Serious fans. It would be fun to go to a game one weekend.
i
We had a memorable day strolling around. We even visited the Divinity School. I wish we had had more time to walk around. But is was just enough to get out and see some of our surroundings.

Catch me daddy

Papaw Pants

Feb, 24 2010

It is so funny to us the way our little guy looks in these pants. These and lots like them ride so high. Drew calls him soggy bottom. But I think they look like Papaw Pants. Noah, doesn't care though he just plays on and gets into everything.

Along with his trying to walk, pulling up on walls and walking them all around the house, he is opening all the cabinets (not really pulling stuff out yet but just seeing how they work), opening drawers and pulling all the contents out, and sitting in front of the refrigerator and crying until we open it and let him stand up to see what is in it. Wow, what a run on sentence. Well you get my point, he is in to everything.

Oh and waking up in the middle of the night, say about 1 a.m. and wanting to get out of his crib and play. We usually give in and take him out until he gets tired again. But we have had to adopt tough love and all for the sake of sleeping. Last night I know the neighbors heard out little wailer. He cried for an hour straight. He finally fell asleep. HOARSE BUT ASLEEP.

First Steps

Entermissions

Feb, 20 2010

Tonight we went to the missions conference at our church. It was so fun to see how active people are in supporting and sending out. We sampled all kinds of food from around the world. There was even a silent action. Gift baskets and services being auctioned off. People were dressed up. And when it was time for the LIVE auction, money raised for projects overseas, supplies, and funds...... Almost 20,000 was raised in an hour and a half. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!! We had a blast and are encouraged to be a part of this Body.

Mommy's Birthday

Feb, 20 2010

Today is my birthday. Big 28!!!! It started with Drew getting up with Noah and letting me sleep in. What a sweet present. I also went Sara's 3 year old birthday party. Dora the Explorer. Then the rest of the afternoon was spent with my guys. We went to the dog park near here for Noah to see the puppy dogs. I think he really misses seeing our two girls Madison, and Raleigh in MS. And we stayed outside for a while soaking up the sun. It was a fun time. Oh, We also got a family nap in the afternoon.

My mom sent me a Edible Bouquet and I got lots of cards and presents in the Mail. Thanks for all of you who sent them.

Endless Energy

Feb, 19 2010

Noah has lots of play time lately. He has so much energy and it has been harder for him to go down for a nap. When do babies not need a morning nap? I think he might be outgrowing it too soon. I guess he thinks he might miss something if he closes his eyes and goes to sleep.

We love MAIL!!!!!!

Feb, 16 2010

Noah has been receiving lots of mail. Valentine's cards, puppies (not real ones by stuffed animals), and even visitors (grandparents). I thought all these things would not phase him, or even go un-noticed but he must be my child because he just like me loves mail. If I could I would be a mail lady, delivering mail. I think that would be the best job.

He really loved opening the letter that he got from his Grana. And on Tuesday we got a box. When I pulled his new puppy (Charlie) out from his Mimi, he was all smiles. He kept flapping and flinging his hands up and down until I handed it over. Thanks for thinking of us.

Happy Heart Day

Feb 14, 2010

We had the privilege to spend Valentine's day with my parents. They enjoyed spending time with Noah. This morning we went to church, they spoke on Phillipians 2. How you are not the most important person in your marriage. Pride is what keeps us from being a serving spouse. Humbleness in a marriage helps that marriage and servitude thrive. I have known this for a long time. But we can become prideful about our humility. I am certainly guilty of this. I always love being challenged to better my marriage.

My parents watched Noah as Drew and I attended 1 of the 8 classes we need to complete to become new members of this body. It was nice to actually pay attention the entire time. Take notes and not worry about Noah. After church we went to eat lunch and spent the afternoon walking the campus and piddling around downtown Wake Forest. FUN.

Side Note:

Drew and I do not really celebrate Valentines' day. But this year I thought about who came up with Love. God first loved us. I appreciate this because this year I realized I have 2 valentines who I love the truest way I know how. My DrewBug and NoahBear.

A Few things that made my day.
1. My mom baked and brought a heart shaped chocolate pie all the way from MS.
2. I watched my husband pray for our marriage today.
3. I got to watch my parents love on my son.
4. I got to go out to eat twice.
5. I sang praises to my Lord.
6. We all got to talk to my brother in MS on Skype tonight.

Hope you all had a great Valentines too.

Finally Babu and Grana make it to NC

Feb, 13,2010

Well they planned the trip up to see us. Got off work early, and despite the prevailing snow at had fallen in MS the night before they headed our way. They were cautiously driving and made it to Georgia when they hit a standstill on the HWY. They inched forward for a while and this scene repeated itself several times through out the NIGHT!!!!! Yes they spent the night on the HWY. Or Motel I-85 as my dad likes to call it. Apparently a 18 wheeler jack knifed and there was traffic backed up for miles. We did not find out what a night they had until morning. When we called to see what time they would get back on the road from the hotel they were suppose to get to and stay at the night before. Oh what grandparents will do to see their grand children. And a whole 25 hours on the road to prove it.

Well it was well worth the wait as Noah woke up in his Granas' arms and was all smiles. He was just as surprised to see Babu too. They were amazed at all the new things he can do and how his personality has just grown. Sometimes it is hard for Drew and I to see how different he becomes day by day but they could see it easily. I added lots of sweets to my kitchen that were brought from Mississippi.

Noah's Kate

Feb 10, 2010

Today we got to Play with Kate. I say Noah's Kate because she is the Kate that he sees the most. She has a brother named Owen and she usually says Owee.... and Oah..... for their names. It is the cutest thing. Now she has it down. She says NNNNNoah. I can not wait for Noah to start talking. It will be fun to hear the kinds of things that come out of his mouth.
