Saturday Family Date Night

Oct 30 2010

Drew took us to Walmart, OCharley's to eat, and to Lowes Hardware store. It was a fun family night. We did not have to dress up. Had a good meal, and then got to see the Christmas stuff at Lowes. Headed home just in time to see the sun set.

35 degrees

Oct 30 2010

Okay I know these photos do not show you how cold we actually were, but YES we were freezing. I though I would be a good wife and go watch my hubby play flag football at 8 a.m. but we lasted only 45 min. I say "we" I mean Noah. Poor thing was so bundled up and just wanted down to play and get dirty. And be on the field with daddy.

My sweet boy

Waving the leaf

Swinging together

Even though we are a little under the weather we are tired of being inside. So we went out. To the park where we had Noah's first birthday. He is doing so much more than on the playground now. We had fun. Daddy even stopped by after school.

Blueberry muffins

Oct 26 2010

When it is raining (as it has been the last couple of days), Noah and I both have colds (so we are stuck inside), Daddy is at work, and we get a little hungry!!!! We bake. Hopefully I will teach my son how to cook for his wife one day. It may take a while but he has a good start.

Plus it is something fun we can do together.

Yes this is Mississippi State he is wearing. Hey they are clothes, he as about grown out of everything else that would be cool (tempwise) to wear, and since today was a 80 degree day in OCTOBER we were desperate. Drew came home, and I jokingly told him this could be Noah's halloween costume. REALLY, we put it on for Grana, Babu, Uncle Jeremy, and Aunt Ashley. Your welcome. I have to say he does look cute in those colors.

I think Noah was just excited to see the blueberries again. I love them while we were in Mississippi and when we brought a whole lot of them back to NC, we ate most but froze the prize last of them. To save for a rainy day. TODAY.

I think he liked them better frozen than fresh, something to crunch on.

Anyway found a great recipe online, you should really try, and if you can't print it off just do what I did. Read from the computer. It is my new cookbook. I have been trying to compile recipes as I go along, but I think I will just type, copy and paste, and find them and eventually make a book.

I love those little blue lips.

Before baking.

And by this point the whole house was smelling good.

YUMMY.

Women's Day

Oct 23 2010

I was so blessed to be a part of Women's Day at North Wake Church this past Saturday. It was a time of reflection, learning, and encouraging of all women. We had 180 women gathered together.

Sometimes I forget that WE women are all alike and struggle with lots of the same things. There was a main session, and then break out sessions. Some were

Bread Baking 101
Simply Flowers
Becoming a Generous Woman
Reinventing your Closet
Motherhood
Living on a Limited Income
Gardening
Leaning into Scripture
Sewing 101
In the Kitchen

I chose Motherhood, living on a limited income, and leaning into Scripture. Really great day of getting to know other ladies. Here is some of my take away.

MOTHERHOOD:
-Time and Fatigue are enemies of mothers.
-You have been entrusted to be a mother (you have no idea to who);you do not know the plans God has for your child.
-A godly mother: is one who loves the Lord her God with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength and then passionately, consistently, and unrelentingly teaches her child to do the same.
-Mothers are not perfect.
-Know GOD's word
-Pray (journal his provisions over your life)
-Spoil your husbands
-Love your children to death
-Take care of yourself
-Discipline well: 3 D's to discipline for (dishonesty, disrespect, and disobedience)

LIVING ON LIMITED INCOME:
-1 John 15-17 says "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world- the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride and possesions- is not from the Father but it is from the world. And the world is passing away along with it's desires. But whoever does the will of God abides forever.

-A budget is meant to give boundaries
-understand where you are spending your $
-Living Frugal=planning in advance
-Giving comes from the heart
-Make everyday things special
-COUPONS
-biblically meditate on what is eternal

LEANING INTO SCRIPTURE:
-Your abilities do not make you who you are, it is your choices.
-Trying so hard to make a bible study happen can be discouraging.
-Restart, try again, offer it up to God, ask Him to give you time, a desire for His word, give the Lord your best time.
-Meditation and Journaling
-Transformation by the Word takes time, it is a slow process, a "LONG, STEADY, SOAKING IN THE WORD."

WRITE OUT SCRIPTURE, PRAY IT BACK TO YOUR FATHER.

These are just a few of the things I learned on Sat. But believe me I could just keep writing and writing. I am so thankful for Drew, and his flag football buddies who watched Noah so I could have this time with women and me restored.

Last take away for the day.
Cherie Williams Toon (our guest speaker) she had 5 things she wished she would have know at an earlier age.

1.Life doesn't get easier it gets harder.
2.You never get enough of what you don't need.
3.God did not appoint you to be someone else's Holy Spirit.
4.Never give up on God.
5.If something falls off......just keep dancin.

Fall

Oct 22 2010

After waffles we headed to the park to take in some of the sunshine.

We LOVE Daddy

Oct 22 2010

I was reminded of how much my husband does for his family. He is a full time student, works full time, and still leads our family well. He (as I sometimes like to joke with him) tricked me, as I look back I imagined such a different life. But now as I know, this is right where we are suppose to be. He is so obedient the call on our lives.

SO this morning after sleeping really well, Noah and I got up and journeyed to the kitchen to make Daddy some waffles.

Firsts and Last

Oct 19-21

I know I know I am late in posting. Here are our activities lately.

Elise and I decided to check out BJ's (wholesale store like Sam's Club but,)/perk you can also use coupons, they send you a coupon book, you can split a membership with another family(ie, the charge as well), you get $10 back just for joining, you can use multiple coupons on one item/because they are packed together but have individual PC codes........... well you get the gist.

We got a FREE trial memebership, it is definitely something to think about.

I really liked the store, it is almost just like Sam's (which I love) and as you can tell Noah and Asher liked the store as well.

I have especially LOVED being Noah's Momma these past couple of days.

Things are changing, it is so funny when you see a light click on and they wake doing all kinds of new things.

We now have 14 teeth at the age of 16 1/2 months (AMAZING) and since I can't get in there for a picture here is the progress

What a CHOMPER.

Another 1st, which I am surprised at, is 1st time to tee tee in the poddy. Noah usually tells us when he needs to poo. But nothing ever happens once he is seated. But the other day Drew was so proud to announce the accomplishment, I am sure it happened on accident. But hey, at least Noah is interested in the Poddy and trying.

He has also (over the past couple of days) has been trying to dress him self. It has progressed from putting Momma and Daddy's flip flops on and trying to walk around the house. Monday I caught him in his room concentrating so hard to put his legs into a pair of pants. He almost had it down. I was so proud, but was too late to snap a pic.

Noah's first coloring. Grana sent big colors and a book, and Momma helped him, it needs work but his motor skills are getting better.

Noah is shutting doors. I AM NOT HAPPY about this stage. He likes to go in his room shut the door and read and play, but 10 minutes later you hear crying to let him out. He has figured out how to turn the doorknob quite yet. He can open his closet doors since those knobs don't turn just pull open.

He is really understanding instructions as of late. We suspected that he was picking up things faster than he let on. Drew tested this the other day. He told him to go from the living room to his room and get a diaper, moments later he came back with cloth diaper, and then went back for the wipes.

DANCING. It is not longer the stomping from blogs past, it is now bouncing, a little booty action, and clapping. Video to come when I can catch him.

AND FINALLY A LAST!!!!!!!!!!

BYE BYE PACIFER.

We were down to one, we only let him have it in his crib, and in the carseat (for our sanity), but the other morning I notice that he had bitten almost all the way through the nipple. So HE threw it away.

Moments later he reached back in the garbage for it. But we have been through 2 nights and 3 nap times without it. He'll live.
