Grady and Ashley

Dec 30 2011

We were thrilled to see Ben, Ashley, and Grady Mangrum. We have been missing seeing how their lives are going since they moved to NC. It was so nice to catch up while the boys napped and share a meal and stories together. We really wish we lived closer and had more time to spend with them. I have pretty much decided that Luke and Grady will be best friends growing up.

Sock Monkey Dancing

Dec 29 2011

We had some fabulous babysitters last night while Drew and I went to see Sherlock Holmes 2. And Kat brought Noah and Luke this Sock Monkey that sings and dances. Well Noah loves this thing. And obviously he learned to dance from his Daddy. It is so funny.

A few of my favorite Christmas things

Dec 26 2011

Looking back on this Christmas I am so blessed to have spent this Christmas with my family. Family that loves me unconditionally, and puts up with all my quirks. A husband and 2 boys who need their wife/momma, and always give the best hugs.

My boys who have learned to sleep in in the mornings just in time for Christmas. What a great present. They are just starting to learn that they can play with and laugh at each other too. And who are excited about seeing daddy while he has time off from work. These things I am thankful for.

But here are a few more things that have just made the season for me:

Seeing my baby boys handprints on tree

The cozy fire

The mistletoe

My Noah's artwork about Jesus. Which I will keep and treasure.

Christmas Night

Dec 25 2011

We headed to the Snowden house for Christmas dinner, gifts, and some time together. It was fun (if you know our family), bantering and picking with one another over all the memories we have had in Christmases past.

-We usually have all the normal dishes for our dinner together (sweet potato casserole, rolls, green beans, salad, pear salad, deviled eggs, ham, cornish hens (or variation of this), AND dessert.............chocolate pie, and sometimes my fav lemon pie.) But one year my mom made this AWFUL "coke jello" as we like to call it. (NO I am not hurting her feelings by calling it awful, she knows) My point is we all refused to eat and she threatens to make it again every years just so we can try it.

-We usually (before we had kids) use to get out the really nice Monopoly set and play a game together, complete with my brother and Drew going head to head for properties.

-We usually have a fire (like we did again this year) and lay on the carpet sticking our feet near the hearth so they stay warm.

-We usually watch Home Alone, or some fun Christmas movie (not ELF). And laugh at the things we had forgotten about in the movies.

BUT with 2 boys now, well our usually has changed somewhat. From all of the above to playing with the Home Depot tool set and Ouuuuuing and Ahhhhing over Luke as he plays on the floor. I wouldn't change a thing.

Christmas Morn'

Dec 25 2011

Dae Dae, Mimi, and Aunt Ali came over to have Christmas Breakfast and celebrate our Savior's birth. It was fun seeing the boys in their cute holiday pjs and opening presents. They both got new ornaments to put on the tree. Luke (his 1st Christmas ornament, and Noah ( a new radko ornament) to match all the rest. Mimi sure does spoil our boys and us.

Jesse Tree: Day 25/ Birth of Christ (manger)

Big Picture Bible (page 243)

Luke 2:1-20

The Birth of Jesus

1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.
4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Christmas Eve 2011

Christmas Eve with the Taylors'. It was a fun night, and Luke was the main event on his 1st Christmas with the family.
