Singing in the rain........

On Saturday I ran in a 10K with Natalie and Kresta. As you can tell from the pictures, it was just a lovely day for a run. It was in the 30s, raining (at some points pouring), and we had to run the course two times because it was only a 5K distance. The funniest part was the fact that maybe about a total of 15-20 people actually showed up to race. We were 3 of like 6 women or something so we took 2nd and 3rd...and got medals and everything!!! By the time we were finished we were all soaked to the bone and so we just jumped into our cars to get home to a warm shower. Thanks for letting me join you girls, it was, well....good company at least!

Gala anyone?

Chris and I got to attend the 2009 Children's Hospital Employee Gala on Saturday night. It was a lot of fun. They hired a MC to be in charge of the program that was pretty funny. They gave away lots of prizes (don't worry, we didn't even win a free ice cream) and we all had a hand held voting device to play a trivia game about the hospital. It was pretty fancy so it was fun to see everybody all dressed up because we all know that scrubs do NOTHING for the body shape! After the dinner and program we headed down to the dance floor and I, for the first time in our almost three year marriage, got to see Chris dance....it made the whole night worth it! We decided that perhaps we should invest in some dance lessons as a couple so we would even have a clue to what to do!

Personal Hygiene and More

Do you ever get tired of taking the time to put on your eye shadow correctly? Or making sure that you've brushed every last bit of plaque off your teeth? Yeah, these things can be tedious sometimes. Well, over this past week I've discovered a time saving solution to these problems. It is called the game of basketball. Get a bunch of friends together and start a game. The key is that at some point during the game you need to get one of your friends to bash your face with his head. In one quick connection (or two over the course of a week in my case) you can give color to your eyes (I think you'll agree that dark red/purple looks good on me...I'll try out yellow/green in a few days) and chip off those bits of teeth that you don't want to clean. Plus with the eyes, the color lasts for a week or so, much longer than your average eye shadow. And with every bit of tooth you chip away, you save yourself time while brushing. It's a good conversation starter, and you may even get a free toothbrush when you go to visit the dentist.
This week's handiwork....and a mirror image from Thanksgiving 2007

A couple of other random things. Last week it got up into the 60's for a day or two and I took advantage of the warm weather to go running outside for the first time this year. It was so nice to be out with just shorts and a T-shirt. I'm really excited for it to keep warming up.

Finally, Linzi and I had a wonderful date last weekend. With her working weekends for the past few months, we really haven't gotten out much, but a friend had given us some free movie tickets so we decided to hit the town. We went out to dinner at T.G.I.Fridays and as we sat down a guy from a table right next to us was leaving. He asked us if we had the 2 for 1 coupon. We didn't...we didn't even know there was one available. So he gave us an extra one that he had, cutting the cost of dinner in half. Linzi and I were very grateful for this little act...something he didn't have to do and for which he got nothing in return except a hurried "Thank you" as he walked out with his wife. It was a great night, made even more so by the kindness of a stranger.

Too bad we didn't find this until the last day of the month
