Why sit when you can stand?

Samantha refuses to do any sort of ab work on her own. Instead, she prefers to stand up. We discovered yesterday that she will sit if she is leaning against something. Who likes ab work anyhow?

A walk to remember....

So our ward campout was this weekend. Chris had to work both yesterday and today so Sam and I headed up to Camp Zion without him. We were the first ones to arrive (I wanted to make the 1 hour and 45 minute drive worth it so we got up there in the early afternoon) so we went on a hike. It was absolutely the perfect day. She rather enjoyed the backpack (thanks Wendy!) and was so happy, like deliriously happy because after waking up from her 2:30 nap she didn't really go back to sleep until we left around 8:30. There is just something great about mountain air and I think Sam agreed.

Have you heard getting older is the pits?

I am pretty sure Sam has decided that 5 months isn't so great. We started it out with trying oatmeal cereal for the first time because the whole 5:45 am wake up is not treating us so well...

As you can see, she wasn't super impressed by the stuff. I made chris taste it and he agreed that it tasted like cardboard.

To make things even more exciting, Sam had to get a VCUG (voiding cystourethrogram) done yesterday because she has had 2 UTI's already (one when she was 5 weeks and then another one a few weeks ago). They basically inserted a catheter and filled her bladder up with contrast and then waited for her to pee so they could see if her urine is refluxing back into her ureters and kidneys when she pees. It wasn't as bad as I anticipated. I have had several patients who have had it done and hadn't heard great things so I was anticipating screaming. She did cry, but it was all over in like 15 minutes. The conclusion was that she does indeed have reflux on both sides. They grade it on a 1-5 scale and she is grade 3. She now gets to enjoy a daily dose of yummy pink berry elixir and yearly VCUGs in hopes that she out grows it by the time she is 5 or 6 so she doesn't have to have surgery. I am starting to think that Chris has cursed us. First me with kidney stones and now Sam with this. Good thing he isn't becoming a cardiologist or oncologist or psychiatrist right?

With a moo moo here and a moo moo there....

Trying to capture Sam smiling is quite difficult because all the pictures come out a bit fuzzy like this one because with a smile comes lots of kicking of the legs and squealing.
Could these two look any more alike? There is no question as to who her father is.
Her mother on the other hand, we are not as sure about.
We have decided that she has some similarities with a cow. She drinks milk, she is constantly chewing on her cud, she looks great in black and white, and her farts are toxic to the atmosphere.

Pav'in the way.......

After 3 weeks, lots of sweat, and a whole lot of water and poweraids here is the finished product of phase one:

We had some fun working some of the areas like a jig-saw puzzle, trying to find the right cut for the right spot. Chis was much better at that then I. We rented a wet saw from Home Depot to cut the pavers. Chris worked it like a pro. He asked me if I wanted to cut any, I declined the offer. I happen to like all my fingers.
