Brought to you by Emily Jane Photography.....

We had the honor of getting our pictures taken by Emily in June.
We just got all our prints today and I can not wait to get them up on the walls.
Here are some of our favorites.

Living in filth.....

Chris is on a 2 month rotation that allows him to be home a bit more often than usual. (Let me just say that 12-13 hour days are AMAZING!!!!) Anyway, I love seeing his face more.  I love that the girls get to see him more. What I especially love is him noticing things around the house that I let slide because during normal life, I simply have to give up some things.

Let me give you  few examples:

We were loading up the girls in the car last weekend and he said to me, "have you ever washed this car seat cover since we got it?"  I think I responded something like, "I probably should more often" but what I was thinking was "maybe after washing all the sheets and towels and rugs and clothes, I sometimes forget about the car seat covers...."

Then there's the time he was doing the dishes.  It was taking him a while so I walked over and saw him scrubbing the sink stopper thing.  He said, "this thing is so disgusting.  Do you ever clean it?"  I said, "it doesn't really bother me" but what I was thinking was "yeah, I should worry about the small food particles stuck in the sink stopper.  I'll put that on my list of things to do right after make dinner, clean the bathrooms, and play with the girls."

Then this week I saw a recipe to clean grout.  It almost took me an entire day to do it with all the interruptions of my children.  I literally cleaned every tile with a scrub brush on my hands and knees.  When Chris got home from work he was sweetly admiring my work and said, "man, we have been living in filth!"  I really appreciated his recognition.

It has just become apparent to me that we notice such different things.  I will be the first person to pick up the dozens of toys laying all around and he isn't bothered by it.  He notices the gross sink stopper, but not the peed on panties and shorts that he leaves laying on the bathroom floor after helping Sam when she had an accident.  Thank goodness there is a dirty clothes fairy to take care of that.

I don't take criticism well, thus this post is being written, but you can bet your money that both car seat covers got washed on laundry day (I even washed the highchair cover) and that I scrubbed the sink after loading the dishwasher.   I really am genuinely thankful to be married to someone who sees things differently then me sometimes.  Did I mention that I love having him home more?  That's really what I meant to say.....

half way to 365.....

Madilynn has made it half way through her first year of life!

Here's her stats:
Weight 14 lbs 25%
Height 26 in 50%

Here's what she is doing:
-Putting EVERYTHING she can into her mouth
-Sitting up
-Deciding if she likes solid food or not (fruits are easier to shovel in than vegetables.  Even with sweet potatoes it takes a couple spoonfuls for her to finally start opening her mouth)
-Sprouting teeth (we just found her 2 front bottom ones this week)
-Being the funnest person to tickle ever (Every inch of her is ticklish.  Her thighs, her arms, her tummy)
-Taking cat naps (getting this girl to sleep longer than 40 minutes is a rare occurrence)
-Thinking she is ready to stand (I swear she will be walking by 9 months)

-Being a great sister (These two are thick as thieves.  No one brings a smile to Madi's face like Sam.
Sam pretends to tickle her toes and nibble her tummy.
She runs circles around her and says, "mommy look.  She likes it." and "I'm just talking to Madi mommy." She will point to madi and say, "that's just my little sista."  It melts my heart.)

-Proving to her dad that she does indeed like him
