An Army of Snowmen!

Savannah and I had fun today making snowmen out of recycled "Danimal" containers. After they came out of the dishwasher she filled them with candy and then we decorated them for the kids in her class. She arranged them in army formation for their picture.

The "Sweet" Pickle

We keep the German Christmas tradition of hiding a pickle ornament in the boughs of the Christmas tree after decorating it. Then we have the kids search for it. The one who finds it gets to open an early fun small gift for the family. Tyler found it this year!

Thanksgiving Break!!!

We spent a couple of days downtown Chicago with Gary's brothers. The kids especially liked the view from our hotel room. We saw the sites as we geocached the city!

Savannah had her Thanksgiving Program today. It was so cute. They were dressed up like Pilgrims and Native Americans. She had a speaking part in it that she was so nervous to do, but of course she did just fine. (bear with me on the videos...they came from my low-tech camera!)

My neighbor belongs to a hiking class and asked me to go with her to Staved Rock over the weekend. I've always wanted to go there. It was beautiful. The whole area was formed 2 ice ages ago and is made of St. Peter's sandstone. We got to see a lot of Bald Eagles that migrate there from October through March. We were on the trails from 9am until 4:30 pm and saw about 16 of these canyons with waterfalls. Awesome! I will have to bring Gary and the kids here!

The beginning of the sugar buzz!

We had a very nice and warm evening
to go out Trick-or-Treating! We all have had
our share of candy and more...I don't think
I can look at another mini candy bar.
(at least not until tomorrow!)

We had a fun time in downtown Chicago at Lincoln Park. Gary and Nate did their first 5K and Savannah did a Spooky Sprint and got her first medal. She already has it hanging on her wall. The only thing Tyler ended up running was a little fever.

Trip to Utah!!!

My brother and his family invited me out to Utah for the weekend. I had such a great time! I taught them the crazy art of geocaching! Agent Ethan and Archer took the business of "treasure hunting" very serious! They kept begging for more even in the rain. The boys and I made chocolate chip cookies while we dried off, and Ryder helped eat them when they were done! Liz help me set up this cute blog and get me going on it. I'm so thankful I got the chance to spend time with them, and of course I cried when I left. Thanks to Gary for taking on our kids solo so I could go!
