Her name is....Isele!

The Lyle family has some very exciting news! We have started to support a little girl named Isele through Compassion International. She lives in Kenya and in a town there that is severely stricken with HIV/AIDS. We are excited about getting to know Isele over the years and have goals to visit her in about 4-5 years...when both of our kids can go. We kind of feel like we have sort of adopted her into our family. We are already very fond of her and the kids have started to pray for her by name at dinner and at bedtime. I will keep you posted on her progress and please join with the Lyle family and pray for her. If you are interested yourself in supporting a child you can visit, compassion.com.

New York City

Seth and I traveled to NYC over a month ago. We had sooooo much fun. I think we would have fun anywhere together. People sometimes think that we are serious (ok just about me)...but what people don't know is how silly we act together...especially when our kids are not with us. This trip was greatly needed and very rejuvenating to us...plus we got to see some sights we have never seen before. Here are a few highlights!

At the motel in Harrisburg, PA, we go to check in and see a sign that states, "Seth Lyle customer of the day"...apparently they pick a different customer everyday randomly. Because Seth was picked we also got a bottle of Sara toga Spring Water...I think I would have enjoyed a bottle of Champagne better.
The Rose Reading Room at the New York Public Library...the architecture was amazing. The picture doesn't do it justice
Ground Zero

Battery Park with the Statue of Liberty in the background. We took a ferry to see the statue up close...amazing!

One of the many upscale shops on 5th Avenue

On top of the Empire State Building

Brooklyn Bridge...we walked on top of it...one of the coolest things we did while we were there

A view of the city from the bridge

Here we are at a Broadway show

My Loves!

Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday. I love celebrating "love". So this year, I thought I would post 5 things about my most favorite people (my husband and my kids) that I love. Sorry this is late!

Seth
1. I love the way he still pursues me and surprises me with his thoughtfulness
2. I love the way he provides for our family
3. I love his love for music...he has such great taste
4. I love his quick wit and how he makes me laugh at the most unpredictable moments
5. I love him sleeping next to me at night and waking up to his scruffy face and mohawk hair in the morning

Ella
1. I love her laugh and her innocence
2. I love how she remembers EVERYTHING...her memory is amazing
3. I love how she will randomly give me a neck message
4. I love her love for books and knowledge in general
5. I love her big blue eyes

Luke
1. I love that he is a social little boy...never met a stranger that he couldn't talk too
2. I love his imagination
3. I love his exploratory nature...he doesn't want to read about it, he wants to DO it
4. I love how he will randomly tell me that he loves me the most
5. I love his smile

Random Things!!!!

Here are some random things that have occurred in our lives recently.

Last Friday, me and the kids were greeted with these notes that Seth left us before going to work. I'm so glad I married him!!!

Ella had a "Penguin Day" at school...at the end of the day they put on a program devoted solely to penguins. Her class had been studying about penguins the whole month of January. I learned that there are 18 different species of penguins, they have about 70 feathers per square inch, that King penguins weigh about 90 pounds, they molt every year, and lots of other random facts about penguins that I never knew before.
They even dressed like penguins...even had their noses painted orange

Some species of penguins...I personally like the Rockhopper

Here is Ella's teacher, Mrs. McKinney

This is Ella's first speaking debut. A little nervous, but she remembered all of her lines...yeah! This video doesn't do her justice. Here is what she said..."Penguins have shiny, waterproof feathers that help keep them warm. They have about 70 per square inch. Each year penguins molt losing their old ones and growing new ones." GREAT JOB ELLA!!!

Luke has a pretend construction site under our deck and has now officially hired 3 construction workers and named them appropriately... goofy, cheesebag, and turkey. You should hear the tales about them and their work habits. Hilarious stuff!
Ella has her first loose tooth...she should lose it sometime soon! I love seeing her grow up...I get so excited for her.
Luke is still obsessed with the trash man and the trash service. He even told Ella's principal this morning how the garbage truck uses 2 arms and not one to lift a dumpster...
Ella is starting to read independently...I just love it.
Seth developed strep throat recently and fortunately didn't pass it on to us!!
I had to start taking antibiotics for "walking pneumonia"...I hate taking antibiotics, but I have to admit I feel sooooo much better than what I have in over a month.

Daddy and Me Ballet

Ella has ballet class every Monday. Today was a very special ballet class, becauase Seth got to participate with her. My husband is good at most things in life...but dancing is not one of them. It was great to see the two of them on the dance floor together and to see Seth trying his hardest to execute the ballet moves the instructor was teaching them. Seth now knows more ballet moves than he had ever imagined. Ella was embarrassed initially, but once she warmed up the smile of her face, as she was dancing with her daddy, was priceless. It was a great evening for them! However, we had to rush out of the house to make it there on time and I forgot my camera...I could have cried. I think I will remember some of the moments forever.
