Sometimes, you complete your schoolwork and feed the baby!
My mom found a miniature turtle in her pool, so she saved it for Isaac. I am writing this on November 18, and the turtle is still alive! When he first arrived, he was a big sensation! Isaac would read to him and have him beside him when he did Legos and listening time in the afternoon. The turtle would also sometimes join us for morning time (which we call “symposium”) when we start our school day.
In the background of this picture you can see our United States map surrounded by postcards from nearly every state. I bought a set of postcards for each state and mailed them to someone in each state. We needed help with a few states; for those, I posted on the CC group site and asked if we could mail a postcard to another homeschool family in the states where we didn’t personally know someone. We ended up getting back almost every state! It was a fun project that we worked on throughout the year while doing Cycle 2 for CC. (Cycle 2 focuses on US history and geography.)

Josiah doesn't want to be left out, so here is his roly-poly bug/pet.
Bathing the turtles in the guest bathroom!
Thumbs up for a job well done!
We camped at Fort Richardson with my parents the first weekend of May. Thankfully, this time no one saw a snake!

My dad was having tremendous chest pain on Monday, May 7. My mom called for the ambulance, and they took him to Baylor Grapevine. My mom really wanted him transported downtown, but the doctor said they just couldn’t justify transporting him that far in his condition. So many of our friends and family were praying for him. (I don't take for granted being able to text friends and ask for prayer and having so, so many of them praying and asking how they can help.)
The doctors ended up putting in my dad's seventh and longest stent. Dave spent most of the morning with my mom at the hospital, and I was able to go visit him late that evening. We praise the Lord for His protection over my dad and for his continued good health! The doctors who did his angiogram and put in his stent couldn't believe that he had 6 stents in such good condition from so long ago!
On the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend, Randy and I took a one-day road trip with my parents down to Houston for Ashley's baby shower! It was such a fun day! I savored every minute of having my parents all to myself and told Dave it was a perfect Mother's Day gift! We talked, read the newspaper, and stopped for coffee and Taco Bell on the way down. It was so special to see Anna and Gail at the shower as we all celebrated baby boy Sorbel! On the way home, we stopped at Cracker Barrel.
adorable picture of Emily, Nate, and my dad that they had framed at their house!
working on cursive
looking so much older - and I want to remember this year when her bangs were so, so short from her Easter bang cutting incident!
Emma and Isaac's choirs performed on a Sunday night at church.
It was a two-cart day for groceries! I love these happy helpers!
Isaac's first piano recital ~ his teacher, Mrs. Arnett
It was the spring of lots and lots of animals--turtles at Bear Creek Park and birds in our neighborhood!
Josiah loves his Daddy Nights when I take the big kids to choir rehearsals or AWANA! Josiah always asks to do the same thing with Daddy--play the Richard Scarry game!
Lily and Emma at the Countryside picnic!
This was our first year attending the Countryside picnic at Bear Creek Park. It was hot but so fun! They served In N Out burgers and ice cream from the best ice cream truck (the one that visits our neighborhood!). We had a great time talking with friends and watching the kids jump in bounce houses!
Papa and Nana came for a long weekend visit, and then Isaac flew back to Colorado with them! While they were here, we went on a bike ride with Papa, ate at Dickey's after church, and baked bread and potato salad.

Isaac's trip to Steamboat!
