A New School Year! 2019-2020

Our first day of Classical Conversations was last Wednesday, August 21.  I am so excited to be tutoring Emma's class again this year!  I also tutored her class last year, which was the Abecedarian class.  This year, her class is the fourth oldest class and are now called Apprentices.  Isaac also has his same tutor as last year, Mrs. Sears.

Isaac started Essentials at CC this afternoon, which is in the afternoon.  Emma is thrilled to stay for the childcare with the other younger siblings of Essentials students!  She said it's the best part of CC day!

We started back at our homeschool on Monday, August 19.  We changed how we do Symposium, the first part of read Scripture and a corresponding devotional, sing a hymn, read 3 poems, review the week's CC memory work, and pray.  Then, we disperse to our first activity of the day.  Emma and I complete her phonics lesson, Isaac bikes, & Josiah plays toys until I'm done teaching Emma phonics.  Then, it's his school time.  I bought a formal curriculum for this school year, and he is thrilled to be in Pre-K.  He told his siblings, "It's the best!  Pre-K is the most fun."

Josiah is learning how to write his name.  He focuses so intently.  One afternoon while I was putting him down for his nap, I asked, "Do you love your sd "Why do you love it?"  He said, "Because I get to be with you!  That's why I love it."

"Strawberry Girl" by Lois Lenski is our new lunchtime read-aloud book.  I didn't plan for Emma to wear her strawberry dress when we started the book!  She had another dress on that morning, but it got wet and this is what she changed into!
Isaac is so helpful with our foster baby during the school day!  He wanted to hold him while he worked on his spelling lists and cursive.  The Lord is using fostering to grow a big heart for babies in Isaac!

Oh, I love them!

It is a day for a lot of Kleenex and coffee. We are savoring our oldest foster baby one more day with all of his favorite things--swinging at the park, snuggling and reading lots of books, swimming, and salmon (made by Mom-o) & ice cream for dinner tonight--as he is leaving tomorrow. We love this precious boy so much. This isn't ending like we hoped and prayed for at all, and our hearts ache to think of waking up on Saturday morning without him. My comfort is found in knowing that this isn't a surprise to the Lord. When we opened our front door to a 5 pound, 2 day old baby on December 13, 2017, the Lord planned that we would love him for nearly 20 months before he left.
What a privilege to love this precious boy! Our hearts melt to hear him sweetly say each of our names. He loves floating in the pool, bath time, reading books, and walking around with a stuffed animal under each arm. He loves playing Paw Patrol with Josiah. He loves looking at all the dolls and accessories in Emma's dollhouse, and he adores when Isaac wrestles and tickles him! We will miss how he always finds Dave's work hat or my running hat and wears it around the house. I will miss carrying two babies down the stairs and into the kitchen each morning for breakfast. I have loved this sweet & busy season of being a mom of five children--what a dream come true!
Please pray for him as he leaves tomorrow. May the Lord bless him and keep him. May the Lord draw him to Himself at a young age. May he grow to love the Lord with all his heart, soul, mind, and strength.

"Before our birth He planned our days,
Laid out our course, ordained our ways;
The moments of our lives He weaves
So all the glory He receives.
To those He loved before all time,
To all He called in grace renewed,
He cannot lie, His word is true,
He makes all things to work for good."
