Third Trimester!

June 6, 2021
one day shy of 30 weeks

30 1/2 weeks - off to the doctor!
Baby was 3 lbs, 14 ounces and still frank breech.  I expected baby to stay this way, as Josiah did.  You could very clearly feel baby's head at the top of my bump!  Heartbeat was 146!  What a joy!

Heartbeat 154
I measured right on track for 35 weeks.  My c-section was scheduled for August 10 at 9:30 a.m.!

You can see baby's head protruding on my left side!  I think it was because he/she was wanting to hear the book I was reading aloud to Josiah!

On July 22 (36 1/2 weeks), I started crying at my appointment.  I was very anxious because I could tell a tremendous difference in baby's movement.  Movement felt more subtle to me.  Dr. Bradford hooked me up to the monitors after detecting baby's heartbeat via the Doppler around 160 (faster than usual). I was on the monitors for what felt like a long time, but it was around 10 minutes.  Both heartbeat and movement were great!  Dr. Bradford said she thought that the change in how I was feeling movement was due to baby flipping - I didn't believe her at all.  She had Joe do an ultrasound to confirm, and she was right!  Baby was head down!  My fluid was good (12 cm), and baby was very wiggly on the sonogram.

Baby's heartbeat was in 130-140s, and Dr. Bradford put me on the monitor for 10 minutes or so for "peace of mind" - she must have remembered how upset I was the previous week.  She said baby was "beautiful" - I had two small contractions (according to the monitor) and didn't even know it.

Sunday, August 8 - 2 days before baby was born!
We celebrated after church with lunch at the Feed Store - my favorite!
I realized later 4 of the 5 of us were in blue, and Emma was in pink!

The Sound of Music

We all enjoyed a special night at the Sound of Music on July 31.  We were supposed to go the week before, but my dad was in the hospital, and so thankfully we were able to change our tickets to the following Saturday night!

(Emma picked her dress to wear - 100 degrees didn't keep her from wearing her long sleeved flower girl dress!) :)
So very thankful for these times together!

Isaac & Emma’s Week in Steamboat

Isaac and Emma spent a week in Steamboat with Papa and Nana!

Fish Creek Falls
This reminded me of when they went to Steamboat for a week 7 years ago.  Look at Emma's little curls and how they're holding hands!  Agh!

The air quality was poor for a few days during their trip due to the forest fires nearby.  The kids baked bread with Nana, learned Chinese checkers, played a lot of hide and seek, and enjoyed listening to audio books from the library since they had to stay inside for several days during their trip.  But the air quality improved and they were able to be outside again before heading home to Texas!

Josiah’s Week (alone) at home!

Josiah experienced a week as the only child at home while Isaac and Emma were in Colorado!

Josiah and I went on a long walk on the first Friday morning that the kids were gone.  Josiah wanted to walk instead of ride his bike, and it took us a long time to walk my typical route, largely because Josiah gets so involved in asking questions or telling a story that it's hard to keep pace.  :)  In fact, I'm writing this now in November (4 months later) and today when we went on a walk, Josiah asked if it would be as long as the walk we took on the day we went to ICR!  Haha!  I'm thankful for sweet times to savor with Josiah, just like this long, hot walk!

After our long walk, we went to the ICR Creation Museum and then had lunch at In-N-Out.

We loved our family class at church this summer!  Here is a crown made out of play dough on "King Josiah's" head.  This was for a game at the beginning of class where one family member fashioned an item out of play dough and their family members tried to guess what the item was!
Josiah also enjoyed chess at Pop and Mom-o's!
"It's been a long time without Emma and Isaac and just you, me, and Dad, and it's been so, so fun!"  Josiah said near the end of our week together.  Another of his picks for the week was lunch at the Starwood Cafe together.

Enjoying kolaches and supervising work on the grotto

It was an exciting morning as we poured concrete on the grotto deck!

Josiah's last request before Emma and Isaac came home was homemade chocolate chip cookies!
