Halloween this year was so much fun! Lyla still doesn't understand the concept of trick-or-treating, but she LOVED her costume and watching all the other kids wearing their costumes. Ellen's mom made Lyla's Pixie Hollow Fairy outfit, and Ellen made Lyla her trick-or-treat bag. We were pleasantly surprised that not only did Lyla tolerate her costume, but she loved wearing it! Saturday night we went to our church's Trunk-or-Treat activity. Lyla enjoyed mooching off bites of pizza from anyone in the ward who would let her sneak a bite. When the kids circled around the gym for the costume parade, Lyla joined right in, leaving her mom and dad in the dust - she never looked back! It was a great people-watching night for Lyla, but it wore her out till it was all said and done.
Our pumpkins for the year came out great! Ellen made the ghosts and Dustin and Lyla made the owl. Ellen got her Halloween craft on and made these cool lights that are filled with gummy worms, as well as a pumpkin that had about a hundred suckers sticking out of it (not pictured, but it was freaking awesome!).
Lyla politely waited for her candy. When people answered the door, she slowly backed away, but she never broke eye contact. Thankfully, she only grabbed one piece of candy when offered to her and stuck it in her bag. If they offered her more than one piece, she gave it back to them! We only went to a few houses - Dustin's parents' neighbors and a few of Dustin's aunts and uncles.
Tonight was as good a night as any to give Lyla her first taste of chocolate. We unwrapped an Almond Joy for her to try. She opened her mouth very wide...
...and CHOMPED that candy down! That Almond Joy was gone in about 10 seconds! She is her mother's daughter for sure.
