Being louder, bolder or different counts as unique in many ways- more like standing out among the billions of people around us. But is it true? Does being outspoken, loud, etc., make someone stand out among the crowd?
To me, being unique lives in the quiet layers of who we are, what shaped us over time and how we react to things – some things that cannot be copied or replicated by anyone.
We are all scanned through the human lens. As we dig deeper, the layers within us show out differently. Same situations, same experiences shape different individuals. We can be dealing with the same things, but it counts differently -when we interpret experiences, based on the mindsets, beliefs and emotional filters. How we make meaning out of what we encounter is one of the strongest markers of individuality.
The invisible blueprint of our character is our experiences. Each person we meet, each situation we go through in life, every tiny memory shapes who we are and how we present ourselves and respond to life. Someone can be strong -even when dealing with a horrible childhood, and some can turn out to be replicating the same harsh feelings to everyone around them.
Another aspect is -what values do we carry within? It’s more like an internal compass- it directs us on how we want to shape ourselves. It helps guide us better and evaluate what we prioritize in our lives. Basically, the core of our soul.
All these again add up to the way we express our emotions, be it happiness, sadness, anger and anything for that matter. Two people may share the same feelings, but it all makes it different when they project it outward.
Another aspect is the beauty of complexity; one can be strong yet vulnerable, independent yet deeply connected. Some contradictions dont cancel each other out but complement each other well.
It’s not about trying to be different; it’s all about the quiet, complex things that make a person unique.
