3 months left to go in this world

***********

I asked my doctor point-blank today how much longer she thinks I have left to live, and she feels with my current symptoms, I have around 3 months left at this point. I am scared, obviously. I am already on morphine and it will be increased as time goes on. I already have trouble breathing and the morphine helps make things a little bit easier.

I need to go to bed. I can barely keep my eyes open.

I have a friend who’s whole life revolves around telling jokes that she makes up herself. She does a pretty good job of it. She keeps us all laughing and living in an assisted living facility we need something to keep us happy.

I find it hard to keep laughing in here. Things are so horrible that we need something to keep us laughing.

Today I have no hot water and this is my scheduled shower day and I can’t have it. That really sucks. Wish I could make up my own jokes like she can.

5 Daily Writing Prompts including Fandango and the 3TC

Today’s post includes 5 daily writing prompts.

FOWC. The word is bare.

The 3TC #MM198. The three words are liners, boat, and cruiser.

RDP. The word is howl.

The Daily Spur Challenge. The word is burn.

WOTD. The word is shelter.

**********

Hank and Heidi surveyed the harbor of boats. There were liners on one side, and cruisers, not to mention houseboats on the other shallower side.

They looked for the shelter that they had rented. It was a houseboat, one that could be moved to another harbor of their choice.

They wanted privacy so they could go bare ass naked if they wanted to so being able to move it was necessary.

They looked for a spot that allowed them privacy for howling at the  moon if they wanted, plus the chance for a place to burn a fire if they wanted to.

*************

What a shocking catastrophe the drastic fire was. They blamed the camping world for their problems. They had served drinks in a social setting featuring art in the woods. They went to bed and waked up to raw meat and other foods cooking on the grill, which most would say was the blame of the uncontrolled fire.

Sunday’s Six Sentence Story Word Prompt #386! September 28, 2025

Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and Sunday’s prompt word reveal for Six Sentence Stories!
“don’t look at the clock, don’t look at the clock, don’t look at the clock”. As if my telling myself three times would be the charm to stop time. No missy, not so simple. What is simple, yet not always easy, is writing a Six Sentence Story. Yes, we have moments when words pour forth and with nary an edit, we’ve created a most pleasing piece of writing. For those moments sitting, tapping our pencil erasers on the desk, tap, tap tap, consider writing a story, next scene bit ‘o poetry or soc for Thursday’s Six Sentence Story Blog Hop, doing so in exactly 6 sentences.  Simple, yet not necessarily easy, it’s always a lot of fun. While I can’t guarantee there won’t be any pencil tapping, I can guarantee you’ll be glad you wrote a Six. Bonus? You’ll have opportunity to rub elbows with an awesome group of writers this side of everywhere.

Rules of the hop:
Write 6 Sentences. No more. No less.
Use the current week’s prompt word.
Link up at Wednesday’s post. Link goes live at 6:00 pm through Saturday late…
Spread the word and put in a good one to your fellow writers.

PROMPT WORD:  TEAR

Human writing reflects that of the universe; it is its translation, but also its metaphor: it says something totally different, and it says same thing.” – Octavio Paz

  1.  There was a tear in my prom dress.
  2.  My mother didn’t mean to do it, but she forgot to turn the iron off and it burned the material of my prom dress.
  3.  It was prom night and it was the only dress I had to wear.
  4. She profusely apologized, but there was nothing she could do to fix it and I had to wear the dress to the prom, tears and all.
  5.  My tears were not preventable.
  6.  I spent most of the entire prom hiding in the back of the room so no one could see the embarrassing mark on my dress.

One Day my writing will come to an end due to the symptoms from my COPD. Today it is getting harder and harder to put together a blog post and write something to fit the prompt.

I am on Hospice and they tell me all the side effects are normal and will simply get worse. I am getting worse for sure.

Weekend Writing Prompt #435 – Speak

A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend.  How you use the prompt is up to you.  Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like.  Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise.  If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments.

Word Prompt

Speak

Challenge

Weekend Writing Prompt #435: This weekend your challenge is to write a poem or a piece of prose in exactly 22 words using the word “Speak”.

The challenge is simple: each week you will be given an exact number of words you can use to write a poem or piece of prose.  You can use any format or style you like; go wherever your inspiration takes you.  The only rules are these:

  • your poem / prose must contain this week’s word (see note below).  The word does not have to count towards the exact word count total – it can be in the title, or the first letters of the lines of a poem can spell it out – you can be as creative as you want as long as it’s there somewhere.
  • the length of your poem / prose must match the number of words stated in this week’s challenge.  No more.  No less.
  • A note on the word: you can use any variation of the word (for example: call, calls, calling, called etc).  If you find you are struggling to use this week’s word you may substitute it for a synonym – just include a note to explain the swap.  Remember, this is supposed to be fun

Today’s post includes 5 daily writing prompts.

FOWC. The word is commit.

The 3TC #MM194. The three words are walk, run and jog.

RDP. The word is piano.

The Daily Spur Challenge. The word is head.

WOTD. The word is gamble.

**********

The DeMott brothers were getting ready for the weekend frolic. It was held every weekend, and they had committed to hosting it for the town on the lawn of their huge mansion.

Frank set up the area for track and field. Scott set up a walking section, a running/jogging section with track equipment, and a section for parkour. Randall set up the music section and pulled his old piano out of the garage to head the group playing music for everyone who wanted to dance.

The largest section was the area set up for gambling. There were card tables with poker and blackjack, an old roulette table, and an old slot machine they had found. This area got the biggest group of people.
