A great weekend
On Saturday me and Mike went to the temple to celebrate our 5th anniversary. It was so nice to go there again since we hadn't been in over a year. It was so peaceful and calming, not worrying about the kids or the house or anything else. The time passes much too quickly. Then afterwards we went to lunch at the Olive Garden. Our waiter seemed surprised when we said that we didn't want any wine at all. I guess people get the wine quite often there. It was a nice weekend and it was nice to spend time with just Mike. That doesn't happen very often. This coming weekend we are driving to Oklahoma to visit Mike's family. Mike will be going to California on Monday and then get back on Friday and I didn't want to stay home just me and the kids for that long so we decided on a trip. This way Mike will be able to play some golf with his dad and his parents can see their only grandbabies. It works out great!
A trip to the park

On Friday we went to the park for a little bit and luckily it didn't rain on us. It was very cloudy and it did start to sprinkle but we did get some nice play time in. Daniel enjoyed running around and he took Emily down the slide a couple of times and then we went and swung. Emily enjoyed the swing and did very well sitting up in it. This was her first time playing at the park and we had fun.

Go To Jail!

Daniel captured Emily and put her in jail and just to make sure that she didn't get away, he sat on the laundry basket. Now this is a magic laundry basket. It is a jail, potty, train, and boat. Emily didn't mind going to jail, she just played happily and looked out the side at me so she could get her picture taken.
Here she is just playing and looking at me. She adores her big brother and loves it when he plays with her.
Here is one of my big projects right now. I am recovering our nasty kitchen chairs. I really can't complain about them since they were free and they are good chairs. Fabric just doesn't do well on chairs especially when you have kids.
Here is a before picture....
and here is after. I only have this one chair covered and three to go. Maybe they'll be done in a month or so. Hopefully sooner. I don't know where people come up with things like put fabric on kitchen chairs, carpet the dining room and bathroom, and put tile in the living room (absolutely no carpet). People who don't have kids, that's who.

New Shoes
Today I got two new pairs of shoes which is a shock because me and shoes don't like each other. It's kind of funny that I like to get new shoes and go shoe shopping because it is INCREDABLY hard to find shoes that do not give me blisters. It frustrates Mike that I buy shoes, wear them for a bit, and then say that I can't wear them because of the blisters they give me. I can't wear shoes with backs on them for the most part because they rub my heals raw. It seems that all shoes give me blisters at one point even if they rub the same places as my old ones. Why is that? Anyway, I finally found some church shoes with heels that I love and have been looking for some like them for years now. I am bound and determined to break them and the new sandals in and wear them until they are so worn out they are just disgusting. That is my goal anyway. I think that new shoes are just a lot stiffer than my feet like them to be so I'm going to wear these shoes as much as possible and break them in. I will also continue to cut back on the shoes that I buy. Hopefully it will be easier to get shoes for my kids as they get older.
Back to bed with Mommy and Daddy
Emily is getting up at least twice a night again and she thinks that she can come sleep in our bed. Mike is usually the one that brings her to our bed. Last night we had both Emily and Daniel in our bed for part of the night. When I get up with Emily, she doesn't fall to sleep right away anymore and she just looks at me like she's saying, "Come on mommy, I'm still awake and I won't go to sleep until you take me to your bed." I stay in the rocking chair until she goes back to sleep. I know that she doesn't have to eat twice a night.
While Daniel was in our bed, he peed the bed for the first time in over two weeks. He asked me this morning "Am I wearing underwear?" I told him yes and of coarse he had to ask the obligatory "Why" that annoys me to no end sometimes.
My 5th anniversary is coming up on Tuesday but since it's a work day we're going to celebrate on Saturday. We're going to go to the Temple. I'm excited because we haven't been in over a year. I would like to do something special on the day of our anniversary but have no ideas as to what. Any ideas would be appreciated because I'm usually not very creative.

I can sit all by myself!

Emily is now sitting up on her own quite well now. She also loves getting pictures taken. You can't really tell here but she has red hair! I'm so excited about that. Right now she's sitting on my lap trying to get the keyboard to eat it.
Daniel has now memorized the twelfth Article of Faith! I am so proud of him.

Band-aid allergies and the secret to sleep

Daniel has a small bite on one of his cheeks and wanted one of those small round band-aids on it so Mike put one on for him. At church I noticed that the skin right around the edge of the band-aid was getting red and almost blistery looking. I convinced him to let me pull it off so away to the bathroom we went (we were in sacrament meeting) and luckily the band-aid came off very easily. The skin that the adhesive part of the band-aid had been touching was very red and kind of puffy. I guess thats just another band-aid that we have to add to the list of the one's both him and me are allergic to.
When Daniel was a baby I started playing music for him all night and I wanted to do the same thing for Emily, so Friday I got Emily a cd player. The past two nights she has slept so good!!! Last night she even went 11 hours (6pm to 5am) between feedings! I found the trick to getting her to sleep good.

My miracle today
Today really started last night. When we went to Walmart last night, we were going to pick up a serger for me but they were all out of stock and told me to call tomorrow (today) to see if they had come in on the truck. At this walmart the serger was $196. So we went home and Emily went to bed around 10:30. She woke up at midnight, less than an hour after I had gone to bed, and since it wasn't time for her to eat I held her and put her back to sleep. She woke back up less than ten minutes later and I knew that it would be a really long night of her wanting me to rock her all night if I went in to get her. I feel really bad but I turned down the monitor and went back to sleep and completely forgot that she had woken up. I don't even know how long she cried but she put herself back to sleep. I feel like such a horrible mom! Well, Daniel started crying and calling for me at 2 and I thought that he had wet the bed. I went in and he said that his tummy was hurting really bad. He had complained about a little tummy ache earlier that evening but I didn't really think anything about it. I put a heating pad on his tummy and about an hour later he felt better and went back to sleep. I went back to bed but before I could go back to sleep Emily woke up around 3:40 so I went and fed her and got her back to sleep. Finally I was able to go back to bed but shortly after I had fallen to sleep, about 5, Daniel woke up again with his tummy hurting. I brought him into my bed and put the heating pad on him and he fell back to sleep quickly. Apparently his tummy didn't hurt as bad as before. Then around 7 Emily woke up and since Mike had to get up anyway he got her and brought her to me so I could feed her. I think I was then able to kind of sleep until 9ish. Well this morning my silly kids wouldn't let me exercise although I tried and I called up a Walmart about 15 miles away and they had the serger I wanted. We went there and got it for $165 (so worth the drive) and when we were just about home, Daniel looked like he was falling to sleep. I decided to drive around some more because if he didn't fall to sleep in the car, he wouldn't get the much needed nap at home. During the whole trip I kept thinking, "I wonder if I should get gas?" Then I would brush it off and think I have enough gas, I should be able to go at least 320. Well, when we were just about home again the car suddenly lost its go ability and wouldn't pick up speed. Luckily I was coming up on a gas station and was able to pull in. I put 22.5 gallons into my 22 gallon gas tank. Heavenly Father was really looking out for me even though I didn't quite deserve it especially after thinking so many times about getting gas. It was a miracle to me that I was able to run out of gas right by a gas station and that I was able to get there without having to try and push the car. Now I better try to get something done while my two angels are sleeping.

Calm time
Right now I'm supposed to be exercising but Emily is actually playing nicely on the floor being happy so I wanted to actually do something on the computer without her trying to help me type. Typing one-handed is very slow work. As another birthday has come and gone I have been thinking about what I want to do this year and have accomplished by my next birthday. These are things that I've tried before and never really accomplished.
- Get rid of the frumpy housewife that has been living here since Daniel was born, which will require weight loss, and get dressed every day as if I'm going out. This includes spending time on my hair instead of just pulling it into a ponytail and putting some make-up on.
- Have a clean, organized house!! Now I don't want to be one of those people who is obsessive-compulsive about having anything out of place but I don't want my house constantly looking like a hurricane went through it. Having counter space in my kitchen would be extra nice too since there's not much of it.
- Actually make dinners that require cooking, not microwaving, and have more than one thing (such as pizza) and that means some sort of fruit or vegetable.
- Something that really depends on Emily, but I would really, REALLY like to get her sleeping through the night in her own bed!!! She did pretty good last night and only got up twice.
So far I'm doing better with the dinner than anything else, but then I still haven't finished unpacking and sleep is very important. Mommy doesn't do so well with lack of sleep.
Emily is learning to scoot around on the floor. She can turn herself in circles and move backwards. I'm kind of looking forward to her crawling because then she'd be more willing to spend more time on the floor but it would also mean that my baby is growing up and then I'm all done with baby stuff. Okay, time to exercise. Sore muscles, here I come!

Daniel's wallet

Daniel has started earning an allowance and so yesterday we went and picked out a wallet for him. He gave the cashier the wallet and the money all by himself. He was very proud of himself. Daniel has also stayed dry now for 14 nights. One more night and he will be halfway to earning another engine. We are so proud of him for doing so good!
