Sick, sick, sick

This has been a long week so far.  Daniel was in school for 4 days and came home last Thursday sick.  He didn't tell me that he wasn't feeling good until bedtime and so we took him to the doctor on Friday.  He had strep, a double ear infection, and also a sinus infection.  His lungs were clear as of Friday but he had a cough.  he ran a fever all Friday and Saturday and as of today he is still feeling horrible.  I can tell that he doesn't feel good although he has bouts where he seems to feel decent but he's not playing like he normally does.  Emily got sick while at nursery on Sunday.  I was helping out in sharing time and went into nursery in between the times I was helping out.  Emily wanted to be held and didn't want to get down and play or anything.  She kept telling me that she wanted to go home.  So we went out to the foyer because I wasn't quite done in primary and she laid right down on the couch and went to sleep.  Later she threw up while in bed and she bounced in between  the playpen and our bed and an air matress all night, unable to get comfortable.  So we went back to the doctor today.  She has strep and Daniel's lungs aren't clear anymore.  It's not fully bronchitis yet but it's well on the way to it.  So both kids are on antibiotics and Daniel has to use one of his inhalers every 4 hours and another one at least twice a day, plus another medicine for his lungs to keep his cough from becoming full on bronchitis.  Poor boy isn't bouncing back near as quickly as I figured he would.  I really hope that in the next day or two that he starts feeling a lot better.
Then to top off the sickness, our air conditioner hasn't been working.  It's been out for about a week now and someone came by on Friday to tell us that we had a leak and said that someone would come either that evening or on Saturday but they didn't come until today.  I am so very happy to have it working now.  Daniel can now move from sleeping in the game room to his room and Emily can go back to her room from our room.

Picture update

Daniel is dressed as an old man for the 100th day of school.  They did a bunch of activities to celebrate 100 days of school.

Emily hit the pinata pretty good.  She's good with a bat.
Daniel and Emily really enjoyed playing on our new playset.  Too bad it's too hot right now.

Emily likes to play dress-up and dress herself.  She comes up with lots of original outfits.
Daniel waiting at 3rd base to run home.

Daniel at the closing ceremonies for baseball.  He got two medals and a trophy.

Emily got some eyeblack just like her older brother and his baseball team.  This was on a Sunday, the last tournament they played, and she didn't take them off until Saturday, nearly a week.

Daniel playing football.  He does that a lot.

I tree branch fell on our house.  It didn't do much damage but it was scary.
My silly sleepy kids trying to sleep in the shopping cart.
Emily and her doll have matching jammies!!
Daniel was so tired that he layed down on the couch and took a nap.  He slept almost 3 hours.
Emily loves her rocking chair.  I find her in there quite often.
Emily likes to tackle Daniel.
There is a guy in our ward who does ballons.  One day he went into nursery and made balloons for all the kids.

My Silly Girl

Ok, this is for journaling purposes and I really wanted to remember that Emily did this.
A few weeks ago, Emily came up to me and was sitting on my lap.  She started patting my chest and the conversation went like this:
E: mommy, is that your tummy?
Me: no, those are my boobs.
E: your booboos?
Me: yep, they're mine.
Since then she will randomly suck in her stomache as far as she can so that her ribs will stick out and she calls them her booboos (or however her unique way of pronouncing it is).  She also likes to find my bra's and wear them around.
Then today, she came up behind me while I was at the sink cutting strawberries and she started patting my rear.  She asked, "Mommy, is that your bum?"
I answered "yes."
She then started rubbing my bum and she whispered "It's so soft!"
Then she started patting her bum and trying to compare it to mine, to see if hers was as soft as mine.  Mine was apparently softer.

New Blog

I have been using this blog as a journal for my little family and now I have started a new blog for me to use as I work to regain my pre-baby body.  Feel free to visit it. It's mostly for myself, something that I have to report to to help keep me on track.  I think that I will mostly use it to post good food, exercises that I like or even don't like, and of course my progress.  If I get brave enough, I'll post before pics and pics as I progress to where I want to be.

Is summer over already?

I can't believe that school is starting in 3 weeks!  It seems like the summer has been so busy but at the same time like we haven't done much at all!  Because of my injured feet we haven't gone much of anywhere except for Daniel's baseball tournaments.
Daniel made the leagues all-star team and was able to play in 4 tounaments.  Most of the tournaments lasted 2 to 4 days.  It was all within roughly 80 miles from home but was still a lot of traveling.  For the first tournament Daniel kept his spot as the pitcher but was moved to 2nd base for the rest of the tournaments.  He did a really good job.  People would see how small he was and would think that he wouldn't be all that good.  Then they'd see him play.  Sadly I missed 2 tournaments because I had surgery in June but I got to hear about them.  I really enjoyed the games that I did see.  At the first tournament, it was a long day with 3 games in one day.  The first game they played against a really good team that was a select team and they had played together for the entire season.  Our team lost that game. Then we played against two other teams and won those games.  Some of those coaches were way over the top.  They would yell at the kids and try to coach from the sidelines (more than what would be normal) and the poor little lady ump had BIG guys coming up to her and basically bully her to get her to make calls that were favorable to them.  And most of the time it wouldn't have made a difference because they were so far behind.  I wanted to throw one of the coaches out of the game because he was just horrible.  He should have been thrown out because of how much he was bullying the ump.  Our team didn't win any tournaments but they won several games and had fun.  Daniel LOVED diving in the dirt after the ball. During one of the last games they played, Daniel was up to bat and I heard someone on the other team talking.  They said, "Where did they find cleats that small?"  It made me laugh.  He's actually grown nearly 4 inches since baseball season last year.  Last Friday, Mike and Daniel went to an Astros baseball game and had a lot of fun.  Daniel wore his Astros shirt and hat.  The Astros won 5 to 0.
Now that baseball is over, Daniel is gearing up for football season by playing football in the living room, diving all over the floor, and watching old BYU games that Mike recorded.
Emily went to several of the games and she enjoyed them.  She would run around and play.  On the last tournament, which was a Sunday, all the boys got eye black stickers for under their eyes and Emily got some too.  She kept them on until Saturday.  She loved them and would NOT let me take them off.  Her poor cheeks were so red when I finally pulled them off.  My little princess loves to dress up and change her shoes all the time.  She has a little toy camera and she likes to take pics with it.  She'll  walk up to one of us and tell us "Say cheese!" and then she'll take the picture and say "So Beautiful!"  She does it over and over.  It's so cute.  She LOVES to wear pretty dresses and she'll tell me "I so beautiful!"  She also tells me "You're so beautiful!" whenever I dress up for church.  She also likes to wear my make-up.  She's also wanting to cuddle more now that she did as a baby, especially at nap and bedtime.  She's trying to get rid of her nap but she still needs it and I'm not quite ready to let her get rid of it.  She's my baby and is growing up so FAST!!  She says lots of cute little things that make me laugh.  She has a mommy and baby stuffed bunny and she brought them up to me this evening.  She said "The baby wants its mommy!" so I put the mommy bunny's arms around the baby bunny and she said "Aaawwww, so cute!"
School starts soon and we'll miss Daniel during the day while he's gone.  Hopefully he'll like school and have fun.
For me I've just been trying to recover from surgery and my torn ligament in my feet and to catch up on cleaning.  What I'm trying to do is to get each room cleaned up so that all I have to do is a bit of maintenance to keep it all clean.  We're also trying to eat better and hopefully soon I'll be back to exercising.  But I do get to get some good tennis shoes so that's a plus.  Now all I have to do is convince myself to spend more than $20 on them.  I'm kind of thinking Sketchers Shape-ups.  We'll see.  We're slowly working on making changes to the house and hopefully soon we'll get the flooring in my sewing room done so that I can start putting stuff back in.  Our living room has a wet bar area that we are using as our computer area and it has a serving window and a counter that sticks out about a foot from the wall.  I was always paranoid about Daniel running into it with all of his jumping and diving around but then he had a friend over and they were playing football.  They came so close so many times to hitting their heads that we finally took the little counter out.  It's a miracle that neither one of them hit their heads.
That's pretty much all that's going on right now.  I think we're caught up.  Now I just have to put on a bunch of pictures (which I haven't been so good about taking lately).
