Travis & Dean's HARD work!

Travis and Dean (my step-dad) finished the pergola last weekend. It's great! It cuts down on the sun big time. We also tied a swing to it for Douglas. He's not a fan of that yet. We got a steal of a deal on the wisteria vines that are growing up the pergola though. They were originally $40 each but the nursery had them on clearance for $10!! My parents have that on their pergola and say that our vines will reach the top in the next 4 months and by next year will nearly cover the pergola. It's beautiful when it blooms in the spring! All we have left is to extend our patio to the pillars but that's just a matter of pouring the concrete, etc. Anyways here it is.

Happy Fathers Day!

Happy belated Fathers Day!! I hope everyone had a good one. I didn't get to do a whole lot for Travis this weekend b/c he was busy all day Saturday building our pergola w/ Dean. (Thanks Howard!!!) So in a couple weeks we'll go bowling and to dinner or something to to celebrate. Most of our blog readers don't know Travis real well. Travis is the most patient (he has to be to have married me) man I know. He also is the most selfLESS man I know. He's an excellent father and terrific husband. He does everything without a complaint. (I'm still learning.) Thanks honey for being wonderful.

Yesterday we went to my uncles to celebrate Fathers day. Here is Douglas hanging out with the big kids. Peyton is my cousins daughter and Brien is my cousin.

One Sweet Ride

We bought ourselves bikes for Christmas 05 and didn't get to use them much because I got pregnant soon after, etc. Well, we want to start riding again so we bought a bike trailer a couple of weeks ago. I felt the trailer was safer than a seat behind us (not as far of a drop). I thought it may be hard to pull but you can't tell anything's behind you. It can seat 2 children and can convert to a running stroller, not that I plan on running. The trailer is for age 1 and up and Dougie is almost 7 months. He slumps in it so Travis thought of putting his car seat in the trailer. It's so fun to ride along side Travis pulling the trailer and talking to Douglas. I know, I'll probably crash while doing so. Well, last weekend we went for a ride. There were a few puddles from all the rain we've received and when we got back home and I was taking Douglas out I saw the puddle had splattered him. Poor little guy, he didn't seem to mind though, at least not for too long.

See, you can't even really see the splatters. It wasn't very much but there is some on his cheek, arm, and clothes.

And finally, unrelated but so cute.

Bad Bunny

So, Travis is mister kind, sweet, loves everybody. Everybody except rabbits that is. I hate them too. They're everywhere here and they eat my flowers. GRRRRRR! It was actually for his birthday (sad I know) that he asked for a slingshot so he could shoot those bunnies. I got it for him. Well, today Dean brought over a nice bucket of rocks (for their pergola project this Saturday). When Travis got home he was watering our tree, garden etc and came rushing inside grabbing the slingshot. He made good use of those rocks to try to get this stupid rabbit. As you might gather, we are NOT animal people, especially little pests that eat my beautiful flowers. Here is a glimpse. (My camera only records 60 seconds, that's why theres 2 videos.)

Yard

We have/are making lots of changes to our back yard. You have to understand that our backyard was BARE when we moved here. It had nothing. In the last month we bought a crape myrtle tree, planted a little garden, and planted a little flower bed. Travis and Dean start building a pergola over our porch this weekend as well. We'll be extending our patio too. I'm so excited! Douglas is mesmerized by the outside so this will be so fun for him. Here's some pictures
Before any additions

After additions
My flower bed before and after my mums and day lilies bloomed. Finally, our garden. Travis isn't a big vegetable fan so we are only trying strawberries, blackberries, peas, and a watermelon.
