Preschool

I'd like an extra source of income and I was planning on doing a co-op preschool with friends for Douglas this year but if I could get paid for doing it, wouldn't that be fantastic!! :-) Does anyone know of people that might be interested in paying for a 2-3hr, 2-3 days a week preschool? I'd want it for kids starting Kindergarten in 2012, preferably age 2.5 or 3 now. I have a bunch of preschool ideas and if I was to have one at home that I charged for then I would buy some preschool curriculum that I've seen that have great reviews. If no one is interested now, I am always up for starting in January. Please spread the word.

Favorite things

Story Dice Douglas LOVES to have us tell him stories. We probably tell more stories than read books. I had seen the following before but thought "Why would I need dice to tell an awesome story?" But then my friend Sarah did some. Sarah is a rock star and I love her dearly and I totally want to be like her :-) so I did some myself. What we do is Douglas "rolls" (or he places them according to what he wants) the "dice" and then we have to tell a story using all of them. It's quite creative and Douglas told Travis he loved his blocks. I used digi-scrapping stuff and modge podge. That stuff is awesome. Anyways, they are super fun and I made a set for Douglas' friend for her birthday.

Number Cards(idea from Little Hands Big work) Who would have thought that something SOOOOO simple could bring so much joy. These are foam sheets about the size of a half sheet of paper. I bought foam shapes and Douglas loves to place them in the circles. He can count to 15 but is still learning the numerals for what he's counting, (i.e. what a 2 looks like, etc). These foam shapes are great b/c we say, find 4 squares to put on the number 4 and so it reinforces shapes too.

I found this from Spinners End Nursery. This is a number puzzle I made out of foam sheets. I burned myself several times on this dumb thing with the hot glue gun but well worth it.

Dinosaur week

We spent all last week talking about dinosaurs. It started with me doing a muffin tin meal for Douglas and using our dino sandwich cutter. Below is what transpired and I must say Douglas loved it and I loved it too.
top L to R: dino food (fish crackers), dino nest/bed (noodles), dino sandwich,
bottom L to R: dino eggs (yogurt raisins), dino flower (strawberries), dino POOP (choc chips)

We then checked out several dino books from the library and made two dino crafts. Below is one that we'll keep. Those are clothespins and the idea is to match the shape on the clothespin to the shapes on the dino.

better late than never

I was waiting to post these pictures until I had created a new blog header with them but I'm not feeling very inspired to create a new header so here are the pictures. They were taken in June for Harrison's 9 months pictures. He's 11 months now.

Help

I can't drag my pictures around in blogger anymore. WHAT???? It's ticking me off. Does anyone know how to fix it?? Anyway, here is one of the latest "games" I've been doing with Douglas.

You can buy the foam ABC puzzle at walmart for $1. Pop out the letters and stick them in rice. He finds them tells me what the letter is and the sound and puts it in the puzzle. He loves the rice part and finding the puzzle part. He really enjoys this.

I was going to do part 2 vacation but I only had like 3 pictures so its a no go. Anyway, when we got back we went with our playgroup to see a fire station.

Here he is climbing out of the window on the fire demo house.
