Evan Turns One

Evan turned one on Friday and we've had a wonderful weekend of celebration. Both sets of grandparents in town were by far one of his biggest Birthday joys:) Aren't those the best looking grandmothers ever??? I don't think Evan's bottom has made contact with the floor in two days.

We've has a whirlwind of a year. I can't believe our little guy is already one. A year ago today we were living with Jed's parents while we waited to move into a house. At 4months old, we moved into our home in Frisco and adjusted to life together. It was a sleepless, but sweet year. Evan's reflux kept him up much more than we'd like, but his sunny smile and hilarious personality made-up for our lack of sleep.

Evan has TONS of energy and keeps us on the move every day. He's been walking for 2 months and running the last month. Whew. Evan loves to push anything, eat, pat Mollie, wave, blow kisses, chatter, scream...happy & mad, play with Haley, stick out his tongue, high five and laugh. He is super busy, very outgoing, enjoying people everywhere that we go. His eyes light up at the sight of us in the morning and twinkle all day long. His cheery personality lights up the room and his sense of humor amazes us. Although he isn't much for quiet, sit-down activities, his coordination and determination help him figure out the world around him.

Evan brings joy to our lives, laughter to every day and a sweetness that can't be matched. We thank the Lord for Evan today and pray for 99 more amazing years of healthy life for him!

Amusement Park Morning

This morning Haley and I went to her first little amusement park. We were invited to join our friend Hannah for her circus themed Birthday party and it was such a fun party. Haley hopped right on the train that circled the park and loved the small rides that just went around in a circle. She rode the boats, horse merry-go-round and her favorite the race car....she rode in a pink car of course! Who would have known that she was made for speed. All of this is certainly in preparation for her upcoming trip to Disney World with Bebe and Papa. Considering that I am NOT an amusement park kind of girl, I never knew how my more cautious child would feel about being spun and twirled. But, she loved it! All those airplane rides in Bobby bonanza have prepared her for all things wiggly and fast.

Little Mommy

What a cute little Mommy. Haley loves to push Evan around in her doll stroller. For some reason, Evan likes it too. It was the new tactic tonight to keep Evan from getting into everything while I made dinner. We seem to have found something that works well. We'll stick to it!

Back in the Swing of Things

We're back home from the mountains and thankful for some cool weather here in Texas...well, highs in the 80's at least. What a wonderful vacation in Colorado! Jed and I love being in the mountains, the cool weather, being outside all day and spending time together. It has definitely been an adjustment to have him go back to work. It's so wonderful to have Jed around all the time we already miss him. I often have a hard time imagining that God would have designed our lives to be so full of work and time away from our families. In a perfect world I hope that we'd all get to spend the majority of our days together:)

For now, we're back to our morning walks with our sweet neighbors, engaged at church with all the upcoming fall activities and getting ready for preschool that starts in less than two weeks. I can't believe my big girl will be going to preschool this year. She is so excited. I can't wait to see what this school year holds. Evan turns one next week and is tearing up the wood floors at home as he zips around the house at lightning speed. He is really a crazy walker! What an exciting time with these two busy kids. What did I ever do with my life before them?

PS- The picture of Haley is one with a deer behind her. You have to look close. Haley LOVES to look for and find deer when we are in the mountains:)

Mountain Update

We don't have internet access at our cabin, which is probably good news for us all in the long run, so I am sitting in front of the park utilizing someone else's internet for a quick update. We are having a fabulous time in the mountains enjoying wonderfully cool weather, rainy afternoons and a break from the Texas heat! We've been hiking almost everyday, Haley has been to the rodeo with Jed, and we spent an adventurous morning in Minturn at their farmer's market (then took a 30 minute walk to the park for lunch which was suppose to only take 10). Haley and Evan have had a blast with their friends Gracie and Eloise and we've been blessed to spend time with our friends the Cassidas and the Larges. Whew. What an awesome week and we're looking forward to more fun to come.
