Homework?!?!

Allison has her first homework assignment!!!

The Day Care has all kinds of fun art projects on the walls (even in the 0-6 month room where Allison is), so we get to participate in all the creativity. She has until Monday to "decorate the paper doll how she sees herself". That makes sense for all the older kids, but I don't think Allison has had the time to be introspective and discover who she is and what her hopes and dreams are.

The only idea I've come up with is to smear poop on it....but I don't think the daycare would appreciate that :) I plan to decorate it this weekend, so I'll be sure to post pics of what I come up with.

So I'm officially back to work (for 3 days now) and things are going pretty well. My kiddos are really glad to have me back and now I'm busy playing catch-up (because of course the kids didn't learn a single thing from the sub while I was gone). It's hard to get good help these days...the kids tore up and trashed a bunch of my stuff while I was gone and the sub was totally oblivious to it. They even managed to steal over $100 worth of my games and books and prizes which really disappointed me.
Teaching is definitely something a person is called to do; it's not for everybody. Some people just don't understand the logistics of it and can't figure out how to keep 30 pre-teens in line and focused and learning about ratios and proportions. My sub is one of those people who had no business trying to be a teacher!!! That's just my two cents on the matter...

The ladies at daycare love Allison; they say she's such a chill, relaxed baby. They haven't had any problems with her crying or being fussy. They say she's really observant and likes to look around and swat her arms around at things. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who thinks Allison is a wonderful baby :) Every day they give me a piece of paper that reports what happened in her day. It lists when she ate and how much, when she had a diaper change and if it was wet/dirty, when she slept, and what her mood was for the day.
The first day I laughed at the report because it says that 17 minutes after she had a diaper change, she had to have another one because it got dirty....just like her; she won't poop in an already wet diaper, she has to wait until after you change it to a clean one before she can poop in it :)
PS-No I haven't cried when dropping her off.
It is hard being back to work though...after being home for 6 weeks with her, I feel like I haven't spent much time with her this week. It's kind of a bummer, but there's only 13 weeks left in the school year and I'm sure that will go by quickly.
That's about all for now...I'm off to go unload the dishwasher and get things ready for tomorrow.

This week in pictures...

She's almost 11 lbs now!!! Milk does a body good :)

Thanks Brant and Paige for the Baby Einstein Ocean Gym!! Allison loves it :)

Thanks Mammy for the headband and bows :) Now everybody knows I'm a girl, and a cute one at that!

With Allison's great great aunt Claire (Greg's great aunt) who was visiting this week.
Sometimes I wonder what babies are thinking...look at the expression on her face. I think we need to have a caption contest for pictures like this.

Our cutie pie

We decided to take a trip to Tyler to visit Grandma and Pappy (since Pappy still hadn't met his 6th grandchild). They were excited to see her :)

She's a squirmer...

Greg babysitting while I go work out. She's definitely a Daddy's girl.

This is how she sleeps: with her cute chubby arms up.

She is really strong. The picture didn't take until after she had let herself down a bit; she can hold herself up higher than this...she'll be crawling before we know it :)

And she's found her hands!! Not really a thumb sucker yet, but she is learning what she can do with them (including hitting herself in the face which I can't help but laugh at: "Stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself" a la Nelson from the Simpsons).
Notice the receding hairline...she gets those genes from her Pappy :)

With Amanda, a family friend. Just thought it was cute
