An update on the Wild Man!

Well it's been awhile since I've written anything down. Truth is, my spare time is now completely devoted to trying to keep up with a WILD 17 month old. Hayes has two speeds...on and off. He sleeps like a dream, but when he's awake, he's firing on all cylinders. His energy level defies any logic or relation to my gene pool. (I still believe in the saying, "When baby sleeps, mama sleeps." Even if it was meant for newborns.) For the record, I'm blaming his hyped up enthusiasm for life on James.

I believe that God gave him the gift of sleep and morning crankiness just to remind me that he actually does have 50% of my DNA.

Hayes has just started talking and it cracks us up. The little girls in his class have been talking for months and all the boys just listen and follow them around. (I'm sure just as God intended.) It's really nice that we are starting to have some level of verbal communication aside from growling. (I'm still not sure why he growls, but it's really funny.)

Here are Hayes' new words (with translation). To help paint the picture, he adds emphasis on the second syllable of every word (even if it doesn't have two syllables) and he has this crazy Alabama drawl.

More = Moah Moah (always twice)
Daddy = Da-Dee
Baby = Bay-Bee
Pumpkin = Pun-Kin or Da-Dee depending on his mood (James has a bit of a complex about this one.)
Truck = Schruck (then he will add rrrrrrrr to the end, I'm guessing to mimic the sound of a truck.)
Hayes = Heyssssssssssssssssssss
Ball = Bawl
Nose = No
Hi = Hi-ay (in this funny sing song voice) He will walk out of the room and come right back in just to say Hi.
Bye = BYE Mwah! (He always blows a kiss. Oh my heart!)
Thank You = Tank-Too
Shoes = Shewsssss
Dog = Dawg row row (Again, he's mimicking the sound of a dog barking.)
Duck = DUCK!
Poop = Poop (as he points to his bottom)

Of course he can say the last two words with no problem at all. Here is my favorite word of all:

Mama = Dead Silence

Awesome!
