So my last post was from Halloween and based on this title, it appears that I'm just like the retailers and going to skip right past Thanksgiving. Well y'all aren't going to get off that easy. This was the first year in a long time that we didn't make the trip to Louisiana for Thanksgiving and while it broke my heart to not be with my extended family, there was a part of me that was relived to not be stuck in a car for eight hours with a toddler who knows about 14 words and is NOT scared to use them. Often. And at the top of his lungs.
We hosted Thanksgiving at our house for eleven family members. (Yes...we travel in a herd. I think it both scares and fascinates James and his family since he's an only child.) As most of you know, hosting Thanksgiving means a lot of cooking and many trips to the grocery store. As a general rule of thumb, I would rather eat Ramon Noodles than go the grocery store the week of Thanksgiving, but I plowed ahead because I'm always up for a challenge (and apparently serving Ramon noodles as a side dish is frowned upon).
As much as I would like to go into great detail about how we spent our Thanksgiving holiday, I can't really remember. I think it's due to a turkey and green bean casserole hangover. However I do remember that we had great food, wonderful company and only one meltdown. (I was pushing Hayes in his cozy coupe and we hit a pothole in the backyard. The next thing I know, the cozy coupe, Hayes and I were completely airborne. I'm not going to say who had the meltdown, but she calmed down fairly quickly.) Here are a few pictures from Thanksgiving.
James left the next day to go duck hunting, but not before he helped me pick out a Christmas tree from thelocal tree farm Winn Dixie parking lot. Once we paid for the tree, he and daddy took it to the house to set it up and get the decorations down from the attic and I went shopping. When I got home, all I had to do was decorate the tree and he was free to hunt until his heart was content. Honestly this worked for us and may become a new family tradition. In the past, we would usually get into an argument over what constitutes a straight Christmas tree and how one should have properly put away last year's Christmas lights. This year was pure marital bliss!
Anyway, I got the tree decorated and honestly think it would have made Vegas proud. I'm not going to tell you how many strands of lights I had hooked together, but I did blow a fuse and I believe we are now Alabama Power's best customer.
Since there is no way I can sum up all of our adventures in one post, I will leave you with a few parting pictures from Hayes' class party and a video!

Yeah...I'm not sure why he looks shocked in the last two pictures and yes, I do brush his hair. Those curls have a mind of their own.
Here's a little video for my Louisiana peeps. We miss y'all!
