the bates motel

i can't believe that my little biscuit is 1! i know i say it ALL the time, but time really does go by way too fast! so here we are a year later and some days it feels like just yesterday! since i went down memory lane for carter i'm gonna do it for savanna, so they will always know the details of their birth. so savanna this is for you! march 22nd the day i went into labor was such a fun day! i had called the nurse at my dr.'s office to schedule my induction for march 29th because i was wanting to make sure i didn't have an april fools baby! so carter and i went walking at the beach (our usual walk along the boardwalk in huntington). your dad worked on main st for a dr. there, so he met us for lunch and we went to cronic tacos on 11th st. it was one of the most beautiful days at the beach :)! later that day i was feeling some contractions and was thinking ok i think that's what they are. we went to your brother's best bud chase's bday party and felt contractions the whole time there too, so we went home to our apt in mora kai and had nikki come over to watch carter until grandpa could come over and we went to the hospital that night to see what the deal was. when we got there they ran tests to see how far apart the contractions were. i was nervous, but excited all at the same time! i was soooo excited to have a baby girl i could hardly stand it! the nurse came in and said they were gonna send me home because they were too far apart! i was kind of emotional because i was "ready" to have you and then they were trying to say j/k! after a couple more hours of waiting to be released the nurse came back in to say ok, we decided to keep you and induce you! yeahhhhh! all thru the night there was not much progress. i wasn't dialiating at all or sleeping! so at 8 in the morning they broke my water and then things started to move along. i was way less drugged this time around so i was more aware of everything, which was great! at 2pm it was getting to be time, so we tried to see if we could hold off till we could get the video camera there, but you were just too ready to come out! i pushed a few times and you were out! you were born at 2:28pm on march 23rd, weighing in at 7lbs 7oz and 19.5 inches long! we had a couple names in mind for you, we thought we would name you piper if you were born w/ dark hair and savanna if you were born w/ light hair! funny because you were born w/ super dark hair, but we still named you savanna! that is a name your dad and i liked before we even got married, so i guess that's the one that really stuck! anyway, you have been such a blessing in our home and i can't imagine life w/o our little savvy girl! your brother carter just loves you and can't wait for you to get bigger and chase after him! you melt your mom and dad's heart and we just want you to know how much we freakin LOVE you! thanks for being apart of our family!

we've had fam in town this past week from both sides. bren's parents came to do some fun spring time things, we went to a spring training game and carter was seriously in heaven! we stayed for the whole game! i never thought that would happen. he was yelling and cheering for both teams. i think it was the cubs vs the giants. we want to try and go again soon! they stayed at an awesome marriott in phx, so we played at the pool n stuff there! the weather has been high 80's so it's been really nice and not too hot! we had a big easter slash savanna's 1st bday party yesterday and it was soooo fun! thanks so much for all the help of everyone! we made cupcakes, cookies, 2 hams, fruit & veggie platters, corn, mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, there was plenty of food to say the least! but savanna is only gonna have her bday on easter this one time, so we had to go BIG! everything seemed to go over well and the weather outside was perfect! i can't believe my little baby girl is 1! i'm gonna do a memory lane post for savanna next! so here are some pics of our fun doings!

i have been so busy lately that i haven't had a chance to catch up till now! a couple of weeks ago i got to spend the weekend in ut w/ my sister adrian! i try to do an annual sister visit! so we can just stay up late and have fun! my awesome hubby took a day off work to be w/ the kids and watched them for the weekend for me! of course i called him 80 times a day to check on the kids n stuff because i missed them so much! anyway, we had a blast. it's all about food when i travel, so we hit up the pie (a yummy pizza joint by the U). seriously sooooo good. then the next day scrub had to work, so i met up w/ some friends from back in the day patricia, and claudia and we went to hickory kist! it was so fun to see you guys! i never get a chance to see everyone when i'm in ut, so don't feel sad if i didn't get to see you :)! next time! then when she got off work we went to dinner at the pizza factory! seriously all about food right! we saw a flick at the dollar theater (i miss those) and saw i am legend w/ will smith. freaky! i literally screamed out loud in theater! crazy movie. anyway, it was a great trip and i got to shop and sleep in, and all the stuff that can be a little crazier w/ kids, so bren thanks soooo much for being so awesome and taking the kids! scrub it was so fun to spend the weekend w/ you and i love you sooooo much!

it seems like yesterday that my carter boy was born and now here we are 3 years later! wow! time really does fly by WAY too fast! we had a great day! we went to the gym, the zoo, the kids took a nap, celebrated at olive garden for dinner, went to build a bear and got a new stuffed animal, played on the mall toys, got to watch some AFV, and now it's time for bed (our least fav part of the day lately). but all in all a great day! here are some pics of the day! i'm gonna go down memory lane and tell about the day carter was born too, so it might get kinda long, but bren says i better write it down now cause my memory may not always be so good!


carter this is for you! on march 9th 2005, i woke up from a sleepless night (on the couch) feeling like i wet my pants a little! and dreaming that i had you csection! i was just convinced that's prob how i would have you! i told your dad and he said i bet your water is leaking. and i said "no way i still have to go to work and train the new girl". so i got ready and went to work still kinda leaking along. i got to work and was doing my thing and realized ok maybe something is up. i went to the bathroom and quickly called the hospital to tell them i was seeing blood. they said to come in, so i called your dad and we meet up at our apt in good ole mora kai. i remember calling your grandpa and saying "i'm not ready i didn't get a pedicure, and i don't have the baby clothes washed! (sorta silly i know) i went home and showered and got my things together and we went to hoag hospital to see what was up. i took a test around 1130 am and they came back and said that "yep your water is leaking" and your gonna have a baby today! i was super excited slash nervous! i didn't know what i was gonna do w/ a little boy! i only knew girly things! hours went by and i wasn't dialating, but i got phone calls, visits, and oxygen from time to time. they put me on some drugs that would speed up the process, so around 5pm i was ready for my epidural! ahhhhh. me and your dad talked about how excited we were to have you and what you would look like! around 10pm i was having REALLY REALLY bad pains and my epidural was wearing off, so they drugged me up some more! ahhhhh! at 1am the nurse told me that you were ready to come out! i called grandpa and said he better come to the hospital and grandma and gi gi had been at the hospital for most of the day waiting in visitors section! i pushed a couple of times and out you came at 1:15 am! our sweet carter burton bates, weighing in at 7 lbs, 15 oz and 20 inches long! i was soooo happy to hold you! it was really love at first site! it must of been the drugs talking, but i even thought you were born with some TEETH! your dad thought we should delete that part of the video, but that just shows how silly your mom is sometimes :)! i didn't know how i would respond to a new baby, but i really never wanted to put you down i just wanted to hold and love and kiss you! i'm getting choked up right now thinking back to that special moment in my life! your dad was beaming and was sooooo excited you were here. he was even kinda bummed because he thought you only looked like me, but that changed thru time (many people say you look like your dad and have my eyes)! carter we love you sooooo much and i don't think i ever thought i would LOVE being a mommy as much as i do! you have taught me so much. patience, love, laughter, happiness! i know sometimes i fall short, but i want you to know that i freakin love you so much and only want great things for you! thanks for being part of our family! we love you!

since carter is literally obsessed w/ scooby doo, we thru him a scooby bday party on saturday the 8th! he had a blast. he was actually still taking a nap when some people started to arrive, so i went in and woke him up saying "it's time to have your scooby party" and he popped out of bed and came running out! it was too cute. we had a great turn out and had too much food, but better more than not enough right! we had it in our backyard and ate picnic style in beach chairs and blankets and thankfully it was good weather! we also borrowed a bounce house (thanks earl fam) and that was a big hit w/ the kids! i wasn't a good pic taker, but i tried to get some snaps here and there. thanks to everyone who came, carter seriously had such a FUN time! and so did we! it's so fun to be a "grown up" and throw our cute kid a party! we love you carter boy!
