I went to open my blog today and out comes this puff of dust instead. I feel like Rip Van Winkle returning to life after years and years of sleeping, only this lucky lady got no sleep. Seriously though, in the business of my day and in a desire to do NOTHING when the kids go to bed, I guess I kinda forgot about this little area of life...but I did start this post how long ago, so I will go ahead and finish it and play catch up later, if there is anything I feel needs to be caught up on.

This post is going to be our Spring break; we went to the farm for a few days' getaway. Sunday was the first day and it was a beautiful one! We were inspired to go on a walk on the farm, exploring places we hadn't yet seen.

Titus and Micah were napping so we thought it would be perfect to take the other three kids with us. While we were out, I was inspired to take some pictures. Unfortunately, my camera was on the wrong setting and I have a lot of grainy pictures. These pictures were neat to me. You may not see them the same way, but at least you are seeing them, right?

I believe this is the view out the back door of the house, but it's where we started our exploring.

This barn is about ready to collapse from what it looks like but we peeked inside and then continued around the back. Granddad still keeps equipment in there.

This is a shot of the same barn on the other side. In almost 10 years of going to the farm, I had never been on this side of the property. What a shame.
Here is one of the many items of machinery that are buried on the property. It was like one day they used it and the next day they decided they were done with it and there it stayed.
Leaf River runs through the property, something I also didn't know. This area was so peaceful and relaxing. We told the kids to play and have fun and if they fell in, the water was only up to their ankles so not to worry. Not to TRY to fall in, but not to be scared that they might. This little boy's wheels are turning!
What's a farm without finding an animal skull? Granddad used to have cows and we believe this is one that got away...it was pretty cool to find.
This is one of the few moments when Levi wasn't complaining about wanting to go back to the house because daddy had to mention that one time years ago when he was a little boy (and not allowed to go exploring like the kids are doing now so he said it was his first time back here too) there was a snake on the property so Levi was determined that that same snake was just waiting for us around every turn and under every leaf. The mean mom that I am, I made him persevere even when he said, "I'm not going that way because we haven't seen the snake yet and that means he's still coming." I thought boys were supposed to like snakes. What happened?
Beautifully cool trees. God is such the artist.
And more. This doesn't look like much but I really got caught up in the landscape there. What I wouldn't give to have that all in our backyard!!!
These branches looked more to me like fingers walking on the ground, like what you'd do when your hand "walks" like a spider on the tabletop. How many of you just made your hand do the spider walk?
This was the fun part when all three kids wanted to cross the "ravine" on the fallen tree and so we were excited and naturally we encouraged them each to do it on their own.
Eden and I were trailing behind the boys because her feet "hurt so bad can you carry me mommy" so we were slow. I love this shot!
Speaking of shot...how funny was this? We brought the BBGun on our exploration "just in case we see any foxes or other mean animals." In this picture Elijah was just being silly, as usual, and collapsed out of exhaustion so I seized the photo op. I guess it could NOT be funny...it's kinda creepy looking now that I see it. I was there so it was funny but there are a lot of first timers looking at this now...hmmm. I didn't think about that. Moving on...
I told Elijah he'd better get up and run before daddy really did shoot him in the tail with that BBGun. He covered his assets and ran like the wind. Ok, now I'm laughing at my word...I was going to say "covered his goods" but that wouldn't refer to his tail end, so I chose assets and how apropos.
Here is one of several cars that are layed to rest on the property. Seriously. This car either has tree growing around it or it was parked there very carefully in between the trees. I don't get it. At anyrate, I went up close to look inside and there was a couple masked bandits in there looking right at me, only I didn't see them right away. Instead I was only seeing the reflection of the crops behind me and then my own reflection as I got closer. For a brief moment, once I was able to view past the reflections, I was scared thinking that there was someone in there. Then I laughed at myself thinking that a person was in there and then I ran away because I started to imagine the disturbed raccoon chasing me away from his home.
Eden finally managed to score a lift back to the house. Leave it to daddy!
The girls got new "babing" suits while we were there. Eden just LOVES the ruffle that goes from one hip all the way around the bum to the other hip. She delightedly says her "babing suit has ballerina on it."
In closing I've got these wet gents. It had been raining and some more of the rock from the "cliff" next to the lane (the forever long driveway) fell and were in the lane so grandad needed them moved. He was going to do it himself or grandma was going to have to do it so instead Tim took his little men and off they went in the rain to move boulders. Now, what kid in his right mind would complain about going out in the rain to get filthy dirty? Levi. That poor kid inherited the grumbling gene and often I'm inclined to spank it out of him. But alas, it runs deep. Regardless of the lack of younger brother cooperation, the boys had fun and one of them even worked hard. Tim pulled a muscle in his back with his hard work but it didn't make our trip to the farm any less fun or relaxing. Now can't wait to go exploring this summer!!!

Potty Trained at last...

Whenever the kids are potty trained, we go to the zoo, not matter the weather. This time it happened to be snow-free, but it was still rather chilly so we decided to go to the aquarium ("fish zoo"). There was one catch; it was President's Day (yes, I know that was weeks ago...so?). when we arrived at the aquarium an hour after it opened, there was a line outside that the security guards claimed was 1 1/2 hour wait. There was no way that we'd be able to wait with all 5 kids out in the cold for an hour and a half. We were very disappointed and didn't have a plan B so we drove to Moody to eat the lunch we packed while we figured out what plan B was to be. While we were at Moody, Levi found Tim's mullet wig. Pretty nice, huh?
Once we remembered how many exhibits were able to be viewed from inside, we decided to go to the zoo. Besides, Titus really wanted to see snakes and tigers, so that was the best choice after all.
One of the first things we saw was Mrs. Lion. Doesn't she look serious?
One of the first things we heard, however, was Mr. Lion and he meant business. Hearing his roar made me realize that the next time I have a chance to go on an African safari adventure, I won't go. At least not in one of those open jeeps where every bit of God's creation can come up and check you out openly. There's a reason this beast is called the king of the jungle (or the African plain). It was strangely eerie sounding.
I'm not sure why, but Titus stole a chance to be still while the other kids were actually running around and playing in some little play area in the ape house. Talk about strangely eerie.
Ok, this guy looks fairly sweet, right?
Right! Up until the point where he yawns and shows us what he's made of. Those teeth were HUGE!!!
I would have to say that besides the tigers, which were the last exhibit we saw, this was Tidy boy's favorite thing; the primate hands. It was cool and as you can see, and even with all we know of Titus, he would be no match for a gorilla.
The alligator had him standing still and staring for a bit. I wonder if he thought he could jump in "probally just for a sec," one of his new phrases.
This was the only time inside the zoo that these kiddos would even remotely be still for a photo opp. Turkeys! Sheesh, don't they know I have a job to do? They sure don't always make it easy.
The last thing we saw before leaving for home was the tiger pacing around outside. Tim had gone off to get the van and I had given him the camera, but that tiger was a bit kitty! There is this huge ravine thing between the animals and the outdoor habitat, but that cat was pacing right on the edge of the ravine back and forth, back and forth and the only thing I could imagine was that he was plotting his escape. He looked like he so badly wanted to run and jump out of his little prison and then it would be like the Jungle Book movie and we'd be cat bait. Yes, that's what I was thinking the whole time we watched the tiger. That and "boy I wish Tim would get here so we could quit watching this cat stalk us. I do believe all he sees are little steaks walking around and he looks hungry."
Micah dozed off the last few minutes so she didn't zonk out right away, but it was only a matter of minutes before everyone was slumped over in a sleepy stupor. It was a nice, quiet ride home.

Elijah didn't even complain when he became Levi's pillow. Now that's the mark of a truly nice ride home. I can't believe I have 4 kids out of diapers now. What a blessing that is and on the other hand, how sad. I can't believe it!

Now for a real post...it's about time.

Titus is 3 years old and behaving every bit of it! We started off the night with a birthday spanking from uncle John Paul, but birthday boy didn't like it so much. He can be such a crab!
Aunt Shelley made this adorable dinosaur cake complete with little dino eggs. The peanut butter cups were a great addition!
After dinner we sang right away so that the night wouldn't run too late and kids would get in bed at a decent hour. I know it's Friday and all, but I still get tired! When they can all get themselves fed without requiring a mop then I will let them stay up late while I sleep in in the morning. Until then, good bedtimes.
Titus went for a green "dino-egg" and apparently couldn't cram it in fast enough.
No matter how often I tell them the opposite is true, all the kids seem to think of their sleeves as a napkin of some sort. Will they never learn?
Now, this little guy didn't need a single thing for his birthday, but naturally got plenty more to add to the toy room. One of his favorite things was this flashlight/light saber that I found at the goodwill. It was really cool and it worked and everything (Why spend money on something they don't need or that will break soon anyways, right?).
We finished off the night with a little Wii. Here grandpa is bowling and doing a pretty decent job of it as well! We are going to get him to be a regular gamer if he isn't careful! It was lots of fun.
Happy Birthday our little boy. You have been a blast in many ways and I truly do look forward to what you have in store for us this next year. I love you!

Tagged!!!

Here's how you play:
1. Go to your 4th folder where you store your photos.
2. Select your 4th picture (no exceptions)!
3. Post the picture with an explanation and link it back to your tagger.
4. Tag 4 people to do the same!

Ok, so this is the picture I pulled from my computer (I have the majority of my pictures on an external drive). Last week or so was the AWANA Grand Prix and Levi wanted a Superman car. This was one of the many clips I pulled off the web to cut out and decoupage onto the car. It was a rather cool looking car, but nothing from this picture made the cut. Oh well. Now, to figure out how to link this back to Paul...hmm. What the hey does that mean anyways? But first, who to tag...how's about

Denise,

Donna,

Dolly

and Jocelyn.

Have fun!
