I used up all of the space on this blog, so I started a new one at http://thebreedings2.wordpress.com.

Carving Pumpkins

We carved pumpkins over a week ago, I just completely forgot about these pictures. I guess better late then never!

We thought Sam would really enjoy it, but he honestly didn’t want to get his hands yucky. I guess I should have known. He really doesn’t like things on his hands. He always asks me to wipe his hands off as soon as he is finished eating or doing something that makes them messy or sticky. So Jeff carved them and I did most of the scooping. Sam would stick a spoon in every once in awhile, but he didn’t touch anything with his bare hands. And Owen just watched contentedly from his seat. He just liked being outside with all of us.

We all had fun and I think they turned out really well!

Ten Months

Owen, I cannot even believe that you are ten months old already! You are such a sweetie! We love you so very much!

You are constantly on the move these days. You are crawling everywhere and pulling up on everything. You can walk while holding onto furniture or someone’s hands. I don’t think you are going to be walking by yourself anytime soon, but you could surprise me.

You love to eat! And you have become a little particular about what you eat. You still eat most of your vegetables as long as they are pureed. You are not a fan of actual chunks of fruit or vegetables. You love cheese, crackers, bread, and any combination of those three things. You really want to eat whatever we are eating, so I have started giving you little bits of our dinner. Sometimes you gobble it up and other times you put it in your mouth and then spit it right back out.

You sleep through the night, but you still want to wake up so early! I just can’t start my day with you at 5:30! There have been a few days in the last couple of weeks where you have slept until 6:30 or later and I am hoping that will become the norm for you. Actually, there were two days – in a row! – that you slept until 7:45! It was glorious!!!

You want to do whatever Sam is doing. You follow him around and want to play with whatever toy he is playing with. Sam loves to make you laugh and no one can get you laughing as much or as hard as Sam.

We are starting to see little glimpses of your personality. You are still pretty laid back and content, but you let us know when you want something. There are times when you are extremely demanding and impatient! Sometimes I think you just like to hear yourself make noises. You have discovered your tongue recently, so you love to move it around and make different noises with it. And when you are tired or in the car, you just kind of contently moan. It is so funny. Sometimes you are so loud that Sam tells you to “stop being noisy Owen!”

You still enjoy being held, but usually only when you first wake up or right before you go to sleep. Otherwise, you just want to be on the floor playing and getting into things.

You love the bathroom. I have to keep the doors to the bathrooms closed because you want to go in there all of the time and pull up on the toilet or bath tub. Other times you have gone in there and closed the door behind you and then started crying because you couldn’t get out again! You are also learning how to open cupboards in the kitchen. I am going to have to child proof those very soon!

Cuddle Bug

Owen is such a cuddler when he is tired. Becca took advantage when she was over a couple of weeks ago. I love it when he wants to snuggle!

Funfest

Immanuel Baptist Church hosts “Funfest” every October. Children come dressed up in their Halloween costumes and in each Sunday school room they have different games or activities for the children to play. The kids get candy and collect pages for a Bible story book in each room. Rachael and Josh have gone the last couple of years, so this year I decided to take Sam and Owen too. Sam dressed up as a fireman and Owen dressed up as a construction worker. They both looked so cute! Sam LOVED playing all of the games. After each game he would say, “Let’s play another game Mom.” And he told me several times, “I’m having fun Mom.” Owen was really too little to participate. Thankfully my mom came with me and she pushed Owen around in his stroller. He was actually very good. He enjoys watching people – as long as he is on the move.

Here is Owen the construction worker.

Brianna was dressed as a dalmation. She is so precious!

Jack and Sam were both firemen.

I attempted to get one with the kids together. This is the best one I got.

In one of the rooms, Randy and Cheryl were taking pictures of the kids and/or families and Cheryl was kind enough to send me the electronic copies of the picture.

Sam’s Birthday

Well, it is almost a month late, but here are pictures from Sam’s birthday. We had a fun little party with family. Sam loves Curious George, so that was sort of the “theme.” I use that word lightly because we only had Curious George plates, cupcakes, and a sign. 🙂 But Sam loved it all!

This was probably the funnest birthday yet because Sam actually understood that it was his birthday and he was excited by all of it. He opened his gifts from me and Jeff before the party.

Owen wants to be in the middle of everything!

Sam always wants to play with my camera, so Jeff and I bought him his own camera for his birthday. This thing is pretty cool. It takes actual digital photos and videos, and there are all kinds of editing features.

Here are all the goodies.

I am still kicking myself for not getting this on video. Watching Sam while everyone sang “Happy Birthday” to him might be one of the sweetest things I have ever seen. He sang along and clapped excitedly when we finished. It was so cute.

For weeks leading up to his birthday, every time we asked Sam what he wanted for his birthday he would say, “Jack come to my party.” He loves Jack so much. So it was a real treat to get to share birthday cupcakes with Jack!

After everyone left, Sam and I opened all of his gifts and he played with everything. He loved all of it. And he enjoyed munching on a few candy bars too!

It was a fun birthday! He is already asking about his next birthday. I keep trying to explain that it is not for a long, long time!

Our Little Hog Fan

I took these pictures last Saturday while the boys and I were playing outside. I loved this jersey when Sam wore it and I love it now on Owen. But Sam was over a year old before he wore it and he definitely didn’t fill it out as much as Owen.

I think his face in this one is so funny. It is like he is saying, “You want me to do what?”

Oh! He is so cute!

“Oops! I spilled them Mommy.”

Our friend Matt came down this past weekend for a visit. He is in the process of praying about whether the Lord would have him come serve as worship pastor at our church. He is an amazing guitar player and as you know, Sam loves the guitar! Sam was so excited to watch Matt play and he tried to imitate everything Matt did on his guitar.

And Owen was mesmerized as Matt played and sang. He just sat there staring. I don’t think he moved an inch the entire time.

I told Matt that if he decides to move down here, Sam will be one of his first students!

Nine Months

Time is just flying Owen! How is it possible that you are already 9 months old?!?

You continue to be such a happy baby. Many people have commented that they have never seen a baby who smiles so much whenever anyone just looks at him. And your laugh – it is just precious! It is so soft and sweet. Honestly, it sounds a lot like the Pillsbury Dough Boy to me. I just love it!

You started scooting across the floor this month. And just over the last few days you have actually started to crawl on all fours. It is a little difficult for you though because your pants slip and slide on the hard wood floor. But whatever you do, you manage to get to wherever you want to go!

You also started pulling up on everything over the last couple of weeks! You are always so proud whenever you pull up. You look at me with this huge grin. It is like you are saying, “Did you see what I just did Mommy?! Aren’t you proud of me!” Much to Sam’s dismay, you love to pull up on the train table because it is just the right height for you. In fact, you want to play with all of Sam’s things. Sam is definitely learning to share. And you are learning that you are not as big as you think you are. You want to do whatever Sam is doing and you get so upset when you can’t.

You have seven teeth and another one is just about to break through. I think there are two more on top that are about to come in as well.

You have really started to eat table food this month. You LOVE cheese! But you really eat just about anything I have given to you. I think your favorite food is ice cream even though you have only had it a handful of times. But you know exactly what it is when you see it and you pitch a fit until I give you a taste!

You are a joy Owen. I was telling your Daddy just the other day that I love this stage and I wish I could slow time down and keep you at this age for awhile. But it is so fun to watch you continue to grow and develop and learn new things. We love you!

Happy 3rd Birthday Sam!

Our precious Sam,

I cannot even begin to describe the amount of joy that you have brought to me and your Daddy over the last three years! There are times when I feel like my heart is going to just burst with love for you.

Watching your language develop over the last year has been one of the most amazing things I have ever witnessed. I never get tired of listening to you talk. Your voice is so sweet. And you absolutely love to sing! You love music! Anytime you hear a song, you want to get out your guitar and sing along. You recognize the sound of different instruments too. (Which I find to be quite impressive.) We will be listening to something and you will say, “That’s a guitar Mommy.” or “That’s a violin.” You love the violin. You sometimes pretend your guitar is a violin and you use a bobby pin as your bow. I think one of my favorite things is listening to you sing along with CDs in the car. A memory I will always treasure is hearing you sing “Hallelujah! All I have is Christ! Hallelujah! Jesus is my life!” at the top of your lungs in the back seat.

You have a wonderful imagination. You play pretend all of the time. Lately you have enjoyed pretending to be The Man with the Yellow Hat (from Curious George) or Owen. But you also enjoy playing pretend with your cars and trains. And you talk to people on your phone a lot.

I think wrestling with Daddy may be one of your most favorite activities! You ask Daddy to wrestle every single evening after supper. Another one of your favorite things is to throw rocks in the creek or go on adventures in the woods with Daddy. And you also enjoy mowing the lawn. You pretend that your four-wheeler (which is actually a three-wheeler) is your lawn mower. You also love tools. You are always playing with your play tools and fixing something or other.

You run everywhere. It is a rarity to see you walk. There are multiple times throughout the day when you will just run around and around the house and if I ask what you are doing you reply, “I’m just running.” And for the past few weeks, you have wanted to run around in your rain boots and cowboy hat.

You are absolutely hilarious! You love to make people laugh – and you are very good at it!

You love Owen (for the most part). You love to make him laugh! In fact, the other night when I put you and Owen to bed, you two were back there laughing for over half an hour. I enjoyed listening to it so much, I couldn’t bring myself to go back there and tell you to go to sleep.

You started saying your own prayers this year. You want to pray every night after family devotions. There have been a couple of times that your prayers have almost brought me to tears. I will never forget the night that you thanked God for the cuts and the boo-boos and the cross and that Jesus died. And then the next night you thanked God that Jesus is alive. Oh, how we pray that you will come to understand what that really means and that you will put your hope and trust in the Savior! May we be faithful to speak the gospel to you and live it out before you on a daily basis.

We love you so much Sam. You are one of our greatest gifts from God. We look forward to watching you continue to grow and develop throughout this next year. Happy Birthday Son!
