From ear to ear

Reagan is smiling almost non-stop today!  Last night she just sat on my lap and told me stories.

She is more and more fun daily.

Sorry the pictures are a little blurry - I was in a HURRY to get the shot.

"Holds hands..."

We ventured out to the park, lunch and a fast trip to Target with Mandi, William & June.  While making our way to target (walking from Baja Fresh) - yes I had sweaty pits considering what this outing to Target could be like, considering my last trip -  Hudson looked down and then at William and proclaimed:

"Holds Hands 'illiam."

To which William grabbed Hudson's hand without a thought and replied:

"You're my friend Hudson."

***Melt my heart****
They held hands all the way to the toy aisle, and then forgot all about holding hands!

Who said...

Blinds were made for blocking out the sun?!?

Hudson's imagination is starting to fly!!

Sweet Cucumber Salad

Okay - so you have to try this out, especially since it is warming up a bit.

Sweet Cucumber Salad:
7 cups sliced cucumbers
2 cups sugar
1 sweet onion sliced in wedges
1 green pepper diced/chopped
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 Table spoon salt
1 Table spoon celery seed

*Mix the vinegar, salt, sugar and celery seed together before adding the rest.  Don't worry the cucumbers shrink and you might even want to keep adding more cucumbers once you run out.

*It is good right away, but EVEN better the next day!

ENJOY!!

Kristin - I am sorry I haven't posted the recipes from the cooking class, I am going to "get on that" hopefully sooner rather than later.

Baby no more

Hudson is even more of a little boy, today was a milestone... a REALLY good milestone.  Hudson went to the bathroom two times all on his own today!  I asked him this morning a few times, but got busy doing something and he came running in to tell me he went potty all on his own - I ran back to find a little toilet full.

IT WAS SO GREAT!

Spencer mentioned that he has never been so excited (Spencer that is) about pee in his life.  All I have to say is Spence wait 'til hudson goes number two - that will be an excitment you have never seen in me.

Just for Aarean's information

My sister aarean wrote the following email to me:

"hey just thought I'd tell you that your blog makes you look like hudson is your favorite."

SOOOOO.... just for her information.... he is NOT my favorite (dork - I know she was kidding, but still).  I love both my kiddos.  Promise.

I will admit it is easier to write about Hudson since he is, obviously, more active and tells me things that cracks me up daily.  So thanks for sharing my dim-witted sista.

Hello Birdie

Here are some recent pictures of our little bird, love-bug, peanut and reggers/reggies/regs.  She is THE cutest baby ever!  She is starting to semi smile, or so we tell ourselves.  She is 6 weeks yesterday and is growig like a weed. At her one month she was 9.5 pounds!  And 10 pounds when we weighed her later the next week at costco - nope we do not own a scale.

This is a pretty standard sleeping position for her mouth... wide open!  Hence the name baby-bird  or just bird.

This is a love of ours - a peace-i-fier... Spencer's brilliant term.

First bath, and with Superman - lucky girl.  :)

Yummy little girl!  I just want to kiss her all day!

Hudsie

Hudson has been pronouncing his name, lately, as: Hudsie... we don't correct him too often, actually ever, because we love it so much.  We are thinking of changing it to Hudsie - what do ya think?!?  Only kidding, but it does have a charm to it, that is when he says it.

The past two weeks Hudson has bloomed a little more, he has been so much fun.  He has been whippin' out words I didn't even realize he knew, such as "chiwll out mom!"  (chill out mom).  I recall saying that to him randomly about a week ago while he was getting upset over something.  He caught on real fast.    And the "fun" doesn't stop there... he has been throwing tantrums worthy of an oscar, seriously I see academy awards in the near future.  Picture the following:   Me walking REALLY fast to my car out or Target with one hand pushing a cart the other hand man-handling a certain little man upside down (so he won't smack my face).  Me not realizing that people are not looking so much as at Hudson rather at me in all my glory flashing the whole parking lot with my bra and undergarments for all the world to see!  Think of my neck line on my shirt pulled down around my boob, that is right folks - come one come all!  Free peep show - TARGET parking lot.  Gotta love that.  And the best part, other than being a little embarrassed is that it really didn't phase me... I guess that in itself is pretty sad - ha ha.

Here are some cute pictures from the past two weeks of "H" man.

Hudson at a local park, he preffered the sand rather than the water.  Go figure, it was only about 95 degrees.  Wasn't a fan of the random sprouting water.

Washing his own hands with half of the soap bottle.  He was so good that he also washed his face and hair.

This is Hudson's FAVORITE thing to do, above everything else!  If you call and talk to Hudson on the phone he will repeat "Hudson up high, daddy!"  translation: Spencer throws Hudson up - skimming the ceiling- onto the bed.  Hudson belly flops onto the bed and loves every single minute of it.  It is all he talks about all day and asks for when Spencer gets home.  It is even the last thing he says when going to be, "Mommy, up high? Daddy?"

Blowing bubbles

I am that mom...

You know the one who HATES when strangers touch my baby.  I even have a hard time when runny nose kids get too close to Hudson...  it is getting a little easier.  But today I took Hudson to pre-school and headed off to the grocery store.  I had Reagan in her car-seat - blanket over the car-seat and another blanket on her.  I walked in and this girl (about 18yrs old) who worked at the store looked at me and waited for me to pass her, then she turned around and walked after me.  She stopped me to ask how old Reagan was.  (You could still peek at her with the blanket over the car-seat - on the side that is)  She looked at her walked up to Reagan and put her finger in Reagan's hand and touched her... all I was thinking was GROSS GERM-IFIED HANDS THAT HAVE BEEN BAGGING FOOD AND TOUCHING EVERYTHING!!!  I quickley pushed my cart ahead and started to walk away; I tried really hard not to let some comments out - gaving her the benefit of the doubt considering her age.  I walked away making about 50 mental notes to WASH Reagan's hands profusely when I got home.  And I did.  I am that mom.

Ruggles

So, growing up... there really wasn't one of us that was a REAL dog person - that is until my little sister (the youngest) was born.  She might just have one of the most tender and loving hearts in general, but when it comes to dogs (or animals) she is on another level.

Thus this entry:

Yesterday my little Sadie had to say goodbye to one of her best friends: Ruggles

Ruggles was our dog for 14 years and was pretty much her other half.  She was put to sleep yesterday and I just wanted to let Sadie know how much I love her and that I am thinking of you.

Bugs!

Today I got Hudson out of the house (I tried for a good two hours to talk him into a bike ride... he finally stopped playing with his cars to join me.) on a walk and tried my best walking with two kiddos.  I strapped Reagan to my chest in a sling, and Hudson rode his tricycle, with a push bar for me.

Here is a little of what happened...

  • Had to hit every BUMP in the rode (the street divider bumps - you know... the bright yellow and blue ones?!).  He is really into bumps.

  • Had to stop and snack on a fruit snack every ten feet or so (mind you this walk was about a mile) until the bag ran out.  Lucky for me there was only about 10 fruit snacks.

  • On the way back (all uphill) from mailing some letters - that was the walks destination - Hudson walked the whole way.  That is until his "bum" started hurting him?!??  Then he got back on the bike to let me push him uphill - thank you Hudson.

  • While walking back to our house we saw a rolley-polly (sp?).  This is the first rolley-polly I have seen in ages, and Hudson's first time as well.  So I stopped him and got down to show him (Reagan was probably smashed this whole time in the sling - but she didn't make a peep, oh well.) how the rolley-polly works.  He was AMAZED to say the least.  He wasn't really sure about touching it until I gave him the "go ahead pick it up".  (Side note HE HATES ants and to be honest all bugs... the way I get him to brush his teeth is I tell him there are all sorts of sugar bugs on his teeth we have to get off of they will eat his teeth away - works like a charm every time.)  Once I told him to pick it up it rolled into a little ball and he was hooked.  He wouldn't put it down and asked if we could "take it to Hudson's house?"   So here was our convo.:

W: Hudson he has a house.  We don't need to take it home with us.

H: Peeease mom.  Hudson's house?

W: Okay, JUST DON'T SQUISH IT!
(Meanwhile Hudson is rolling the poor bug in his hands firmly - picture the scene of mice and men and the puppy?!  All I could think of was nasty little bug guts all over his hands - ew!)

Replay the above conversation for about ten min.

H: (while rolling and pinching the bug) Mommy,  bug has ouch.  - He drops the bug looks at it blows it a kiss and tells it good-bye.  Then stomps off to jump on more "bumps".

So - although my little man doesn't understand the concept of
"hold it soft" yet, at least he gives a proper valedictory.

Here are some cute ones...

Mandi took some GREAT pictures this past week of Reagan, of the many these were some she emailed me and I thought I would share.  You can't help but just want to love on her, am I right or am I right.

**By the way here is the closest thing I have to a picture of my new "hair"... I will post one sometime... when I think of it.  And when I don't have baby throw up in it, that is a staple lately.

Oh how I love thee ... Hebba

There are very few days in the past three years where I have felt completely legit with the way I look.   Some of these rare days are when for example I am walking and my stomach does not jiggle (remember I said "DAYS"), or I have a nice tan, or could be when my legs don't touch - I know ... we can label that one as "personal issues" - BUT come on... it is true.  When my thighs don't touch I am feelin' a little more fit and up to par.

Again take note all of the above are - "rare occasions".

But one of the best things in life is having your hair cut and colored... or just cut.  There is nothing like coming out of a salon walking a little taller with a spring in your step - because you know that when you walk the hair is going to bounce and shine and just look better than it is going to until the next salon visit.

So... today I visited my "hair wizard", as Mandi puts it, and have decided that today my love goes to Hebba.  Hebba is my fabulous "hair designer", if I am allowed to put it that way.  Like Mother Teresa, she can work miracles with her hands.  So... I heart Hebba.

**Thank you Spenny B for watching both babes for me.  I love you.
