I'm back!!!

Now that I have a little more time on my hands, I'm going to try this blogging stuff again. I see I haven't been on here since 2009- ouch!

October 6th, 2011... What a beautiful day outside. I love Indian Summers!! I mean who doesn't love 80 degree weather in October? Kolby had his preschool pictures today. Someday he is probably going to ask me why he was the only kid wearing shorts and short sleaves in his class portrait; but oh well, I didn't want the poor kid to overheat today.

Eli is loving kindergarten and comes home excited every day to tell me something new he has learned. His teacher, Mrs. Baker, is a great teacher and does so well with Eli and his classmates.

Christmas Break

One of the things I love the most about being a teacher is to have breaks throughout the year to be a full time mommy. This year we had a full two weeks and we had quite a busy schedule. We celebrated Christmas 5 times between Ryan's brothers and their families, My mom, dad, siblings, Ryan's parents and grandparents and our own Christmas (of course Santa too) on Christmas day!

Elijah and Kolby had so much fun preparing for Santa to come. We spent my snow day, the Friday before break, making cookies just for Santa. Before anyone would eat one, Eli always made sure to let them know that they are Santa's cookies, but we can share.:) Eli and Kolby set out a plate full of cookies and a glass of milk for Santa. Eli also wanted to make sure that the reindeer had something too, so he left some baby carrots and a bowl of water for them to drink. They were so excited when he woke up to see that Santa and the reindeer ate all of their goodies and drank all of their milk and water!

The weekend after Christmas my brother Josh got married in Grand Island, Nebraska. He and Rachel had a beautiful Christmas wedding! Ryan and I enjoyed being a part of their special day. Eli and Kolby loved the dance at the reception.

On Monday morning after spending the weekend in Grand Island, NE for the wedding, Kolby had tubes placed in his ears. We have seen an amazing difference in him since the surgery. We hope that this helps with all of his ear infections and high temperatures!

The rest of the week we had fun visiting daddy at his work and going out to lunch with him, going to Pump It Up, celebrating New Years Eve with Uncle Robbie, Aunt Cassie and Cousin Fitz, playing outside, watching movies and funny videos on Youtube (I think there's a tie between Madagascar "I like to move it move it" and the "Gummybear Song"!

Autumn Fun!

To enjoy the fall season this year, Eli, Kolby, Ryan and I have found many fun places to to visit in the metro area. We visited the Howell Tree Farm outside Cumming, Iowa in October. There the boys went on a hayride to go pick out their very own pumpkin, they went through a corn maze, played in the corn, had a blast going down the "homemade" slide and the kids delighted in all the fun things you can do on a farm! We had such a pleasant time that we decided that we had to go back at least one more time!

We also took the kids to "Night Eyes" at the Blank Park Zoo. The boys got to dress up in their costumes for the first time. Eli was Buzz Lightyear this year and Kolby was a 3-Eyed Monster. The boys were able to walk around and trick-or-treat at different company sponsored stations and of course, ride the train. Eli had fun asking kids what they were. He also loved it when people would recognize him as "Buzz Lightyear" or would correct them if they called Kolby and alien instead of a "Three-Eyed Monster".

I think our favorite place to visit this Halloween season was Living History Farms. The kids were able to dress up again in their costumes and trick-or-treat through the historic town, go on a horse and buggy ride and roast marshmallows before leaving. We were fortunate to have such a beautiful day to enjoy the festivities there.

The boys have gotten much use out of their costumes this year between Night Eyes, Living History Farms and Beggars Night! It was so much fun to have both boys mobile this year while trick-or-treating.:) Eli still enjoys wearing Buzz Lightyear. It's so fun to see his imagination at work, creating adventures and role-playing as "Buzz" almost nightly.

Eli and Kolby have a new baby cousin!

Eli and Kolby are so excited to finally meet their new baby cousin, Fitz Caleb! We thought for sure that Eli would be the one who would be so excited about his new little cousin, but actually, it was Kolby. Don't get me wrong, Eli was really excited, but Kolby was kissing and making sweet baby noises with him from the moment he met him in the hospital.

This makes the fourth "boy" cousin in our family. A total of 6 boys combined between Ryan's and my side. If we keep at this rate, we'll have ourselves a baseball team! I'm looking forward to Eli and Kolby growing up with all their cousins and making fun memories together!
