Riley update

Riley's surgery went VERY well according to the Dr. He said that the tonsils were covered in "Crap" was the official term used. His Dr. said there was so much infection down underneath the tonsils that it was a GOOD thing they were removed.

Because my son has a LOVE of medical facility's (NOT) he was lucky enough (SARCASM) to stay two days after this supposed "out patient" surgery. His oxygen levels tanked to the 60's and even today when we took Riley in for a check up they said that he needed oxygen at home. YIKES! So now my little man has oxygen hooked up to him 24-7. I feel so sad for him, but he is handling it well.

By way of tonsils, he is healing. We had a trip to CALIFORNIA planned, to go have some fun, but today at the doctor's office, our Dr. called the surgeon and he told us Riley DOES NOT have clearance to leave. So... we are here.

Other updates:

NONE. Just the overwhelming stress I feel everyday as deadlines get closer and plans are needing to be made. I wish I knew that David was into a medical school, I wish I knew the outcome of my heart, I wish I knew how to pack this house all while not lifting more than 22 pounds. I wish I could have more babies. Just a lot of wishing, with no well in sight.

Thanks Friend

Today my friend Liz drove ALL THE WAY from Riverside to Flagstaff just to cheer me up and take me to lunch. Let me put this in perspective. She drove 864 miles round trip. 14 hours in total just to put a smile on my face. What a friend!

Thank you Liz. You made my day, and my week! Get better from your shoulder replacement so we can go have fun! I hope one day I can return the gesture. Thanks for your friendship, all your notes in the mail and everything else!

Update

Yesterday pretty much STUNK, and today is not looking any better (although it is just 5 in the morning)

My Dr. and I talked about PERMANENT solutions to the "no more kids" scenario. I knew I shouldn't have more kids, but always hoped I would be the one that would be ok. He confirmed that my heart "most likely" would NOT survive another pregnancy. So there you have it, and now the tears have started and I haven't found the "off" switch. Any suggestions?

Riley is getting his tonsils out this morning, and for extra fun they are keeping him in the hospital for a day or two to make sure his heart and oxygen levels don't go crazy.

So I am taking the next couple of days off..... Thanks for the prayers.

Lacking

I have been accused (by my husband) that I am lacking on my posts, WHATEVER.... can you imagine my shock, I didn't even know he read the "family" blog. So I found something suitable to post about. Maddy. We caught video of her giggling, it is very cute. We love our little miracle!

We came, We saw, We fished!!!

This week David PROMISED the kids he would take them fishing. So with our lightning McQueen and Barbie fishing polls in tow we headed to Williams for a morning of fishing.

The second we got there the kids were dying to get their polls in the water, so David being the Daddy that he is, baited and set their polls. Not two seconds later, Riley's 'bobber' was dunking and David started helping him reel it in. And you would never guess that a little cars poll was actually capable of catching a fish.

The cutest part about the whole thing is that Riley reeled it in until he could see it, then he ran up the bank to bring it in the rest of the way... silly boy.

Two more seconds after that Keagan's poll started moving, long story short, she also caught a fish with her little Barbie poll.

David and I at that point said we could go home because they had both caught fish. And we did... go home that is, shortly after because it was too COLD!

Maddy was a cold watcher. We tried to bundle her in the car seat.

Hmmm....

Keagan Graduates!

At the elementary school Keagan went to they had a graduation ceremony for Kindergarten. It was cute, with graduation caps and all. Here are a few pics from this SUPER important event. wink.wink.

Keagan with her teacher and the teacher aide (for privacy purposes I am not putting names)

Keagan walking across the stage to get her diploma

Way to go Keagan... I didn't want to break her heart and tell her she had 12 more years until the next time she would wear the "cap"

This was the cutest thing.... The kids were doing a program and Riley took it upon himself to get an up close seat....on the lap of Keagan's teacher... So cute!

All safely gathered in, part 1

I have a goal to have a full three month food storage by the end of the year. Why you ask? Because not only is it smart to be prepared, but there is a certain security in knowing your family will be fine if anything happens financially. We are students, so we haven't been effected by the job crisis out there, but we have had friends who have been and I love that we can help there families with food items.

I am lucky to have a mother who taught me how to cook, make jam, sew (sometimes against my will). I have been able to be a better mother and wife from the things that she has taught me, and for that I will be FOREVER grateful! Thanks Mom!

This is the before:

And the after, YUM!

Any of you who need some Jam, you know where to find us!

All safely gathered in, part 2

As you know I have a goal to have a 3 month supply by the end of the year, and not just in big metal cans, but also the pantry things that people might not think about. I have taco sauce, three months worth! brownie mixes, baking spices, canned chicken and lots more. It wasn't very organized... but I did a "one over" on it this morning! Here it is:

Keagan does the Kitty Dance

Keagan was so cute at her end of the year dance performance. Her class were the "kitty's" and they danced to the song, "Everybody wants to be a cat" from Aristocats. I tried to upload the video of her, but it's not working. Sorry!
