Utah Trip

We took a quick trip to Northern Utah last month. I'm quite on the ball and finally getting around to posting some pictures from our little trip. Better late than never, right?

This is how Tommy spent his time--either freezing in the snow or playing with Papa's collection of animals.

Sammie spent her time doing homework, playing with cousins, and sewing. (Something she didn't get from me--I've never met a sewing machine that I did like!)

This is pretty much how Tom spent his 5 days . . . Guess that's what happens when your car is old! Too scary to buy a new one when we've got a job loss hanging over our heads . . .

We also made a quick run up to Arctic Circle for an ice cream cone, just like the old days. (Smart, I know, when it's like zero degrees outside!)

(I think Grandma Jen might kill me for posting this!) Isn't she cute though?

A Bit of Good News

Yeah! It's finally happening! We've been trying to get these crazies (as in my brother and his fam) to move to "our neck of the woods" for the past five years.
According to KSL, Utah is having the worst economy in 50 years, but they managed to sell their house in 3 days--just closed on it yesterday. It's destiny, I tell you.
Our philosophy here is the more the merrier. We've got Matt and Shari one mile away, Clint and Lorena will be here in June, Aaron and Rachel very soon, so that means Grandma and Papa, it's your turn next! Hint, hint . . .
At least happy news keeps us distracted from the mess of this world and the fate of Tom's job . . . will he or won't he be furloughed, do we apply for other 747 jobs now or wait, etc, etc, etc. Ah, the joys of being a grown-up. I'm going to hide in a hole and you can wake me up when times are better, ok?

Happy Valentine's Day!

So today is Valentine's Day--a day to share with your significant other. However, mine is in Shanghai, and I am in Arizona. Quite the conundrum. I could give in to my inner whiner and sulk (he already missed Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. . .), but that wouldn't be very productive, now would it?

So instead, I will try to look on the bright side. Last night my sister-in-law brought over FABULOUS homemade Valentine cookies, my sister sent homemade Valentines to the kiddos, Sammie gave me Valentines made at school, another sister sent a Valentine text, and best of all, I got a Valentine's wake up call this morning from my sweetie. All in all, I guess I'm pretty loved.

So, after a few hours of work, I think we'll (as in me and the kiddos) celebrate with a heart-shaped pizza from Papa John's, and attempt to make Shari's Valentine sugar cookies.

So, Happy Valentine's, Tom, wherever you are in this big world of ours!

Help . . . I Need a Nanny!

I consider myself very lucky to be able to work from my "home office" for my brother-in-law. Unfortunately, this is what the house looks like every day when I have finished. My little tornado zooms through every room of the house like this.

It's 5:30 p.m. and the work day's over. Now, let the real work begin!

Greetings From Utah

Greetings from Utah, where it's a balmy 25 degrees right now. The scenery is pretty and the company is even better, but . . . . baby, it's cold outside!! I doubt the groundhog can even make his way to the freezing cold surface!

No worries though, I'll be back in the AZ sunshine in a matter of days. Until then, bundle up!
