July-December 2013

I just tried to take a picture with my phone and I have no more space!  So, that made me sit down at the computer and download the pictures.

So then I got this bright idea to spend some time updating my blog.  I've got to put these memories somewhere for my children to look at someday when they get older and want to relive their childhood.

July 7, Harry Jack and Danny Jr., collided in my sister's swimming pool.  Danny jumped into the pool and Harry Jack jumped in right after him.  As Danny came up, Harry Jack went down.  Harry's chin hit Danny's head and the lip split!  There was blood everywhere and all the little children around the pool froze.

As much as I tried to talk myself into letting Harry Jack's lip heal on its own, I loaded him up in the truck and drove to the Dr.'s office.

That was not fun!  (But what I was actually dreading was the removal of the stitches 5 days later).
We had to take a pit stop to Sheetz on the way home for an Icee for Harry Jack, and Coke Zero for me.
Like I said...I was dreading the removal of these bad boys!
Seriously, five days later!  I am always amazed at how our bodies heal!  Do we have an awesome God or what!?

July 23, Danny--big Danny-- has been finishing our basement for the past 3 years.  I've helped him here and there, but he has done most of the work himself and I am SO SO proud of him.  To date, we are about 85% finished.

In these pictures below Danny is pouring the concrete for the counter tops.

These cabinets were in my parents old home.  When my sister and brother in law bought my parents home, they saved these cabinets before they began to remodel the kitchen.  We reclaimed them and Danny cut and pieced them together to fit our basement.  He did an incredible job.  Thanks Dolly and Leland!

This is the underneath side of one of the counters.

This the finished product!  Using reclaimed cabinets and concrete counter tops, saved us $1000's!  Plus, its sort of sentimental too!

July 30, we went to the beach with my whole family!  That was fun!  Below are pictures of our week.
Pulling out of our driveway, on our way to Myrtle Beach!
Shrimp and Cheese Grits--this is the meal that Danny and I made for our night on kitchen duty.  Yummy!
Getting ready to play BINGO!  These are the prizes.  My mom's treat!  She Loves to play this with the grandchildren!

Ripley's Aquarium

Right before we left for our vacation, I paid off Harry Jack's Dr. visit mentioned above.  Well,...on Thursday night of our vacation, Sweet Margaux Jeanne was running around the pool at the beach house, slipped and busted her chin.  So again, I tried to talk myself into letting it heal on its own.  But, within a few minutes we were back in the truck searching for the closest urgent care center.

We ended up here...the ER!

 Not too bad!

August 19,  Jane started preschool!  She was ready!  She walked right in the room, sat down by her cousin Michael and never looked back at us.

August 20, The rest of the children started school!  Yippee for me!!!

 Sweet goodbyes!

October 2,  Fall Break!  My family all met at a cabin in the mountains of Gaitlinburg, TN.  It was a great little get away.

We celebrated Danny's birthday, and my niece Charlotte's too!

We went to Dollywood and ran into lots of people from Lynchburg!  (Weird to see people you know when you're out of town!)

Big Danny took the boys to the Tennessee/Georgia game and Danny said it was worth every penny!

October 20 was Maddie's final show of Les Miserables!

October 31,  My sister Dolly and I took the little ones Trick or Treating to one of Danny's Psychology classes.

Halloween 2013
with Michael and Eleanore!

November brought three more birthdays and an Indian in her Thanksgiving program!

Here's a bit of sentimental history... my mother made this Indian costume for me 32 years ago exactly!  She made it for me, for "Famous American Day," when I was in the 3rd grade Mrs. Witt's class.  Famous American Day was the way LCA celebrated Thanksgiving years ago!  Those were fun memories!

and December...sadly, this is the only picture I took this Christmas!  Crazy weird that I didn't take any more.

One of my favorite days of the first grade!  Gingerbread house day!
This is Margaux's creation!

So that's a wrap of the past 6 months of our life.  New Years is just a couple days away.  Wow, 2014!  That just sounds like a fun year!
