Harry Jack Roller Skating

(Slightly long post--sorry!)
Monday night Harry Jack was invited to his first skating party, held at our local skating rink. You locals know where I am talking about.

Not exactly my favorite party place. Definitely not the place to drop my little boy off for a party and then leave. Nope! I stayed. Stayed the whole time and organized my coupons, keeping a close eye on my boy.

You see, when there are STILL grown adults decked out in their original "80's attire, be'boppin around the rink--first in line for the limbo, somethings not quite right. I found myself saying, "are you kidding me???" one too many times!

This place has been around FOREVER. Seriously, when I was a little girl, on Monday nights this place had "Christian Skates." You know--they played all Christian Music--Amy Grant, Michael English, Sandi Patty--you get the picture.

Anyway, on Monday nights my father would load all of girls up and take us skating for a few hours, with one stipulation. We had to have made a 100% the previous Friday's spelling test. Wow, talk about some stress!!! This was big time back then and we didn't want to miss it.

Oh the memories this place. There was one night when I left this place in tears. I was crying in the back seat of our blue station wagon because my father caught me trying to "couple skate" with Nick K...or was it Eric H???

I don't know what I was thinking. Hmm...couples skate...lights off with the disco ball spinning...Daddy sitting on the side of the rink watching his 5 little girls...and I thought I could skate by him without him seeing?????? I was a slow learner...

Okay back to the real reason I started to post about this place. It has had a few makeover's in the past 37 plus years of it's existence, but it is still stereotyped in my mind. Sorry _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _!

Below are some funny pictures of Harry Jack trying to skate. His boy CRACKED me up! He seriously is a funny kid! It was his first time on skates.

I caught these on my cell phone and for memory sake, I thought I would share them with all of you!

One of MANY hilarious faces!!!
He finally made it to the middle of the floor and...
...fell...

...so he crawled back to the wall and tried again.

Harry Jack and I had a good time together Monday night. It was just the two of us, something that is rare in our big family!

LU Pychology Barn BBQ

This past Saturday, Danny and I had hosted a Liberty University Psychology Barn BBQ at my parents home. It was a lot of hard work putting it all together, but worth it all in the long run.

On The Menu:
Ribs
Chopped Pork BBQ
BBQ Chicken
Potato Salad
Home Made Cole slaw
Home Made Mac-n-cheese
Home Made Baked Apples
Baked Beans (my Dad's are the BEST)

I am too tired to post all the pictures. If you are interested click here to go to my FB page for the pictures. (Hopefully this link will work.)

Thanks Daddy for cooking all the yummy meat and for the apples, beans and slaw. That was, for sure, some good eat'in! I love you!

Football Time!

Today was the first Liberty University football game of the season. It was played at our local city stadium because the remodeling of the campus football stadium is not quite complete.

Today's game brought back lots of memories for many of us, as this is where all the football games for both LCA and LU were played years ago! It was a beautiful day and a great game! For those of you alumni who have not attended a LU football game in a while--you've got to come back and see it for yourself. It is pretty incredible, pretty FUN! It's a whole new game!

Below are some pictures of our day, from my phone!

One of us is not very happy. Why? Don't know.Harry Jack dancing to some
"Funky Jesus Music."
Click here to hear this cool funky song!

My sister Dolly couldn't make the game, but my BIL Leland and nephew Michael did. I am posting this picture to show Dolly that Michael ate REALLY healthy at the game. (Dolly, notice who's hand is feeding him the nutritious candy bar.)
My sister Dawn eating a yummy funnel cake!

And, a special thank you to my sweet mother, a.k.a. Jenius, for keeping baby Jane for me. Ahhh! How relaxing it was to just sit back and watch the game.
Can't wait for the next game! Bring it!
