So this morning, EARLY this morning at 12:01am, Maddie and I made a memory. We went to the opening show of The Hunger Games. I dropped Maddie off at the mall last night about 8:45, to stand in line with her friends. When I arrived later, at about 11:15, I was SHOCKED to see the parking lot FULL of cars (I know, I'm a newbie to opening night movies). MORE shocking was who was sitting in our theater with us! It was like church! Hmm, surprising how many Hunger Game fans are out there. I think the only thing that would have surprised me more was if my mother, aka Jenius (who read the books by the way) would have been sitting in the theater too!
Anyway, for all you HG fans out there, the movie is GREAT! It was about 2 hours long. Obviously not everything in the book is in the movie, there is just not enough time.
Saying goodbye to Primrose in District 12-my eyes got a bit moist.
The "killings"--tastefully done (that is odd to say)--just like the book
Rue's death--again, my eyes got a bit moist, you will love sweet Rue!
Bloody/Gore--in my opinion, its very minimal--again tastefully done, just like the book
Ending--ended great!
Being in a movie theater with tired, sugared up, Team Peeta/Gale teenagers at midnight--WOW! That was an experience in itself! I'll say again, WOW!
Apart from the camera shots, that a times made me a bit dizzy because they wanted you to feel like you were actually there "watching" with your own eyes, I give it a 10! I want to see it again!
