New York City Adventure!!

NYC TRIP!!!!

JJ, Jackie, my Dad and I went to New York City for the weekend. My Dad had business there and so us three girls met him for the weekend. (Kip was sad to be left behind :-))

We had so much fun!! Up top is a picture of all of us shopping on Fifth Avenue. Of course my Dad had to buy every grandchild a little something.

Below is a picture of Jackie in a leaf blower. She caught 20 gold leaves and won a bag of candy! There were about 30 people gathered around watching her!

The Girls on Times Square at night.

We went to the play Mary Poppins. We purchased discounted tickets and just took the seats that we got, but at the end of the play Mary Poppins flew right over our heads! It was a lot of fun.

Jackie and JJ walking on the highline path/park.

Sorry to post this picture JJ, but I had to show the yummy pizza! We ate the yummiest food on our trip! Here's some pizza from a restaurant in little Italy.
And what we wanted to see... NEWSIES! It was such a great play. Lots of dancing and no down times. We really enjoyed it!
Eating at an AWESOME restaurant called Red Farm. It was soooo yummy.
Then we had to get some cheesecake in Times Square after dinner. NY cheesecake is so creamy and delicious. We ate it right up!
We went to the MET. It was a lot of fun. We also went to the Museum of Modern Art, but I prefer the Met.
We took the Staten Island ferry to get a view of the statue of liberty and then ate at Momofuku, which was good, but not as good as Red Farm.
Jackie and Dad at the Freedom Tower. Crazy to think 9/11 was over ten years ago.
Hamburger, cheese fries and shake from Shake Shack. It was yummy!
 Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge.
Getting autographs from some of the Newsies actors.
I had so much fun! Jackie and JJ were the planners and thanks for my Dad for helping us make it work. It was so much fun. We've never done anything like this before but hope to do it again.

And then the nightmare began.... JJ left early Monday morning. Jackie and I were on a 7:15pm flight from JFK - SLC. My dad wasn't leaving until Thursday. Jackie and I were at our gate and decided to use the restroom. I noticed a little blood (I was 29 weeks pregnant), so we called my doctor and while Jackie was on the phone I started bleeding more. So they called an ambulance, strapped me to a stretcher and took me to the nearest hospital, the Jamaica hospital in Queens, New York. They wheeled me into the ER. It looked like a scene from the t.v. show ER. I told Jackie, "NO, get me out of here. I can't stay here." But then I was quickly taken up to labor and delivery which was a lot better. My Dad got to the hospital minutes after we did. I am so grateful Jackie was there with me and calm through the whole ordeal. And that my Dad was there. I started panicking as they started prepping me for a c-section and wanting to give me all these shots. He quickly called Lewis and had Lewis talk me through everything.. (since I couldn't understand most of what the doctor was saying) It was great to have both Jackie and my Dad there.

Jackie trying to sleep in an uncomfortable chair with only a light sheet.
Me trying to get comfortable on a very uncomfortable bed! I couldn't eat because of the medication so I went 33 hours without eating!!! I was not happy.
The hospital food was not good, but the Russian lady who brought it to me wouldn't take it away until I ate most of it.
 Leaving the hospital!
I stopped bleeding, so they put me in a room and kept monitoring me. No food or movement, not fun. Jackie spent the night with me. Matt's mom came down to our house so Matt was able to leave on the first flight. He got in at 6am the next morning. After a few days of nothing but lying down, they did a follow up ultrasound and decided I was okay to leave. We took a flight out Thursday night and made it home! It was quite the adventure.

I'm not on bed rest, but I do need to be careful of my activity. I will probably have to have an early c-section, but won't know for sure until I get closer to my due date. My main objective is to not bleed and to keep this baby in!! Thank you for all of your messages and prayers. I feel comforted and am so grateful to be home!

First Day of School

Here are some recent pictures from the first of the school year!

Fischer was not too excited about the first grade. He had a hard time going to school for Kindergarten, and now it was a new school and all day. He didn't like going for about the first two weeks, but now he loves it. He is doing really well!

Sophie goes to preschool every Tuesday and Thursday. She begs to go everyday. She has the cutest, nicest teacher and loves it. I am told that she helps the other kids in her class. She will be ready for Kindergarten next year!

Here's a picture of Finn opening some presents from the pacifier fairy! However, he did not like the pacifier fairy as much as Sophie did. It was a rough couple of weeks, but he's doing great now without it.

The Zoo

Fischer didn't have school today, so we went to the zoo! Of course the most exciting part was riding the carousel.

 And the playground.

Finn kept touching the water and putting it on his head. And then he would come over to me laughing saying, "Mom, water on head."

They were all so good I let them pick something out. Fischer picked out a stuffed animal, of course. And talked Finn into one as well. Sophie picked out candy... BIG Surprise. I told her if she picked candy she could only choose the lollipop, thinking this would make her not want candy, but that's what she picked. What a funny girl.

Random Pictures

Here are some different pictures from over the last couple of weeks.

First: Fischer had a field trip to the zoo.
Here are pictures with his teacher and his class and some classmates.

Here is a picture with Sophie and the girls in her playgroup.

Fischer wanted to be a rattlesnake for his class project. This was my second attempt. I first made a black snake but Fischer informed me that rattlesnakes weren't black.
This was my best try... but I must tell you trying to figure out a rattlesnake costume kept me up a couple of nights. And thanks to my Dad, the end of the tail did sound like a rattle.

Hanging out at Matt's parents house.

 Sophie and McCall racing.

 Finn spinning around the pole.

Sophie had a princess dress on so I told her to go change because we were going to Fischer's soccer practice. She was in her room for about 20 minutes. When she came up she told me, "Mom, this is the PERFECT outfit." She had tried on many items of clothing and had come up with this as the perfect one.

John's Mission Call

Finn is TWO

We had so much fun celebrating Finn’s Birthday. He is such a sweet cute kid. He doesn’t have much preference for colors, or toys or just about anything. He doesn’t really like any food, but he loves anything sweet. He calls all sweets “cookies”. He calls all cars “Cars Two” because of the movie. When he counts he says “one, two, three, four, five, chicken”. I tried to video tape him saying it, but he didn’t say it as clear as he usually does. He loves to climb and jump and play anything that Sophie and Fischer are playing. He loves Matt and asks me throughout the day, “Where daddy go?” I say, “He’s at work.” He says, “oh, work. I want to play with Daddy.”

Finn LOVED blowing out candles so we kept lighting them and letting him blow them out. He also LOVED opening his presents. He kept saying for a week, “my birthday”. When you ask him how old he is he says, "three" and puts up three fingers. If you tell him he's two, he says "no, three." He is such a sweet little boy. He is still my little baby even though he is getting bigger. I still rock him to sleep for his naps and love it. He snuggles me and gives me kisses. We love him so much!
